I agree, I never realized just how BRUTAL the cold could be until I started losing weight. Fortunately, for me it's much more closely connected to how many calories I'm eating rather than my actual weight. When I overeat, I warm right up.

Alas, the closest Trader Joe's is 2 1/2 hours from me. I was not trying to lose weight when I lived near one, so I'd get copious amounts of their orange chicken, cookie butter, and chocolate covered potato chips. The only suffering I had was that it was in Ann Arbor, and the intersection it was located on was pure torture…

Not sure if specifically a holiday treat, but I only have them during the holidays: peanut butter bars.

1. Weight your food and track it in a diary, even on bad days (estimate if needed) 2. Don't "make up for" bad days 3. Take a nutrition class and understand the science of nutrition in order to avoid fads

I do the same. I'll do a "check" and see how close they are to the stated weight (if I'm not doling out my own servings, like with wraps). I'll adjust if they're consistently over or under. The only brand I really came across that was aggressively over was Joseph's wraps. Most other things I've tested tend to be about…

It's a thickener. It'll make the oatmeal a little less watery.

Good copypasta right here.

I always see those Daily Harvest smoothies in stores, but they just seem really expensive for what you get.

You have more faith in humanity than me.

I wonder when protein will become the new villain. Before it was fat, now it's carbs, perhaps protein is next.
-
Huh, put that way, sounds like it would be much cheaper overall to just buy oats and protein powder.

Agreed. Another note is that for petite people (which I'm assuming OP is since their BMR is 1350), each pound "counts" more than in taller people. 5 pounds up or down with me looks like a lot more gained or lost than a much taller person. Because of that, a slower rate of loss is still effective.

It's definitely sucky how much patience proper weight loss takes, but it's worth it in the end. It's not linear at all either, which is extra annoying, haha.
-
RIP old scale. Probably for the best to just get rid of it, haha.

This year we're actually keeping it real simple, and making homemade pizza, which is a weekly thing for us, so no baking for me. I kind of wish I had because I think I was craving it, and would have been satisfied with less baked goods than the store bought junk I was eating.

It's oats with soy protein mixed in, along with being a smaller portion size (most oats serving sizes I see are 40g, this is just under 29). https://poundstransformation.store/collections/default-category-food-products-breakfast/products/pounds-apple-cinnamon-oatmeal

Oh yeah, wet mask is a new sensation. I did like wearing it as a lightweight cover for my mouth though. Scarfs and ski masks were just too heavy and sweaty when I'm out exercising. I need something to cover my face because I get a lil asthmatic when I suck in too much cold air from breathing hard.

I wouldn't necessarily call it motivation, but I set up everything like clothes and shoes the night before. I also pick out a good podcast that I'm looking forward to listening to. I enjoy walking outside so it wasn't huge for me to just get up and go, although now I'm using the stationary bike because the sidewalk is too…

Yesss, I love the snowbells too! They are full of nostalgia for me.

Orange creamiscle bars. Fortunately, the brand I have is not crazy on the calorie side.

When this whole pandemic finally goes away, I'm definitely going to my old college town and getting myself some potbelly. Then thrift shopping.
-
I have the opposite issue, lol. I can still eat tons of food if I don't consciously manage myself.
-
I wish we had a potbelly in my area. Panera definitely has more locations, I think.

I had success only weighing myself once a month. It worked for me weighing after my monthly cycle for an "ideal" weigh-in without as much in the fluctuation department. The important thing for me was weighing my food, not myself.
-
This is generally the case with most nutritional deficiencies - you feel fine until the body can't manage homeostasis anymore, and then it really sucks. While the body can survive a while on fat stores, it doesn't do so optimally, and then your hair starts falling out and it takes months for it to recover.

Fortunately, unless you are predisposed to high cholesterol or are already struggling with it, dietary cholesterol doesn't really have any impact on bodily cholesterol.

Popcorn nutrition labels are pretty confusing to me as well. For lower calorie popcorn options, I like Orville Redenbacher's Smart Pop and Act II 94% fat free popcorn. The OR popcorn comes in smaller portioned bags as well, and both are about 15 calories per cup rather than 30.

Therapy is the only thing that helped me. I had to get my mental health under control, switching coping mechanisms didn't really help me.
-
I started a new job, and decided that if I could finally get myself out of the toxic environment of my old job, I had the mental fortitude to lose weight.

I have no clue how I would have handled these knee issues if I didn't have the weight off. I'm going through physical therapy right now for patellar instability (my kneecap likes to move out of place) and even the extra ten pounds I've gained has made the exercises a lot harder. I can't imagine what this would have been…
