Pass day. Slightly over on calories but the "if every day were like today" number is still below my current weight, so I'm glad I kept it mostly in check. Interesting how May was so easy for me (<3 pass days) but June has been harder. I'm not overly concerned but it's interesting to wonder about. Perhaps different routines…

Hi everyone, I've been part of this challenge since last August. This month I'll need to leave near the end of July for vacation (on vacation I like to just completely relax and not track or log) but I still want to be part of the UAC for the first 3/4 of the month in order to help keep myself on track before leaving on…

I'm back for July! Even though I will need to leave near the end of the month for vacation, I still find it valuable enough to join for the beginning of the month. I've been part of the UAC since last August, and even though I've been in the Winner's Circle the past couple of months, I didn't make it this month. But that…

I've had issues with connecting my Fitbit and MFP yesterday and today. So today after not being able to sync by tonight I ended up just adding my exercises (25 min bodyweight exercises and hour-long bike ride) manually so I could complete my diary. I'm at 4 passes already though, so not in the circle.

Yes x3 Bike ride today!

Yes x3 Better day today. Sticking with it even though I'm at 4 passes. 25 min workout and 75 min walk. Heel feeling okay. Meant to bike but when we went down to retrieve the bikes, my husband's had a flat so we took it back up to fix it this week. Under on calories. Was doing an intentional no wine day which turned out to…

@hollis100 Thanks. I've been wearing minimalist shoes for the past few years which has been great for my foot and leg strength but since it doesn't have cushion you need to be careful not to heel strike but instead have more of a mid/fore foot gait. I'm thinking it was probably some combination of daily 80 min walks…

Pass day #4 so out of the Winner's Circle for this month Today I did my 25 min of bodyweight exercises but didn't go on a long walk. On Saturday and especially Sunday my heel started hurting which I think is due to having so many long walks each day. So I'm taking a few days off. My goal is tomorrow to try biking since…

Yes x3 Woke up at 8 and did a 2-hour walk this morning. Though my left heel is hurting a bit so I might need to cut back some on the daily walks and switch to bike riding instead. Also did house cleaning today. Ended with 16k steps. Tracked and under.
-
@nodm very insightful -- I love that choice of language!
-
Yes x3 Had a dinner of cheese and crackers. Oh well. I still weighed, logged, and tracked and was under. Exercise was usual 80 min walk + Saturday 50 min of bodyweight exercises

Pass #3

Yes x3 Very active today. Did my last student gift bag dropoffs by bike in the morning, then in the afternoon I volunteered at my school for a family food distribution which involved lots of moving of melons, pushing carts, and lifting bags. My Fitbit thought I spent 20 minutes swimming in the middle of it 😂 Then I did a…

Pass day #2 Exercise: yes 25 min bodyweight exercises Tracked: yes Calories: nope -- ate a lot and due to rain and storms in the evening I wasn't able to do an 80 min walk to make up for it
-
Yes x3 No alcohol day so filled that hole with bread pudding from a local takeout place. Yes, it's interesting how you adjust to new things. I'm now in great daily-80-minute-walk-shape and good with calisthenics, but would probably be sore were I able to return to parkour.

Thanks @lexabeep and @BMcC9 That's a good idea to strive toward in the future-- once I slowly get up to what seems to be my personal maintenance level and am stable for a good amount of time I could try out not logging to see how accurate my "internal mental food scale" is. This might also change with circumstances too.…

Yeah the disagree button is farthest to the right so is the easiest to accidentally click when scrolling. Which is unfortunate.

Yes x3 Many more exercise calories left than yesterday. Yet don't feel hungry which is good. NSV is losing an inch from most of my measurements compared to last winter! Rick, am keeping your family in my prayers during this tough time
-
Thank you so much! I had no idea you could edit it-- that's great! I will do that and try your method of increasing slowly by 50, gauging effectiveness at each level before increasing. Thanks!
-
Yes x3 Was in the red by about 100 so walked in circles for another 3k steps til I got in the green. Even though I'm barely making it, this shows how UAC is pushing me to be better!
-
@BMcC9 thanks for the advice! That makes a lot of sense-- it would seem too abrupt to suddenly increase by 250 per day. I like the idea of starting with just an extra 50 per day. Did you accomplish that by just making sure you stayed 150-200 under your calorie limit (in the green) after switching to maintenance settings?…
-
@juliemouse83 so sorry about the layoffs. And how frustrating that they decided to include two of your best workers. I know it must be so hard to balance losing a lot of what you loved about your work along with losing a lot of the joys of life pre-covid. I hope that there are at least some things you still have that bring…
-
@Hollis100 thanks for the detailed tips! That's a very good point that in maintenance you keep going with what was working during weight loss. I think logging has helped me understand more about approx how many calories I can have in a day as it's become more intuitive, but weighing myself is something I will definitely…

Yes x3 I'm about a pound away from my goal weight (currently on the lose 0.5 lb per week plan) and would love to hear suggestions from UAC members about transitioning into maintenance. What are your tips?
-
Yes x3 I ate a lot but had a ton of exercise calories with 17k steps plus 25 min arm and leg workout. Dropped off 6 more student gift bags which was where the extra amount of walking came from. I'm not a pet person-- too much responsibility for me :)
-
@SuziQ113 what a great idea! I'll try that the next time I have salad.
-
Yes x3 Today's exercise was dropping off gift bags for three of my students. I walked about 35 min there and 35 back. Tomorrow will be more trips (the teachers split up the students so I have 12 total). It was good to see them and say hi and add at least a little bit of joy to what was a sad end of the school year for them.
-
Pass #1 Despite a morning 85 minute walk and ending the day with 14k steps, I ate a bit too much so was about 100 cal over. However I'm very close to maintenance so I'm still on the right track in general! I love in DC about a 20-25 min bike ride from downtown.
-
Yes x3 We did our first grocery order since March (we had a lot of staples, frozen veggies, and Blue Apron delivery so hadn't run low til now) which was great since it brought in some fresh veggies and fruit. My goal is to start eating fresh fruit most days since I haven't always had much fruit in the past. Today I had…
