Thank you. This is how I feel. Pasta with sauces of all kinds . . . Meat . . . Vegetable . . . Just butter . . . Now I suddenly feel hungry.

You can do it. Today is day 8796 for me.

Diagnosed with Lupus (SLE) in 1991. Went through Chemo in 1994-1995. I have been in remission since then and living with the damage that was done (lungs, kidneys, and hip replacements due to treatments). I now only get bloodwork every 3 months and it suggests Lupus activity, but only mildly. I will answer questions and…

Welcome and best of luck. I have been her 2.5 months and MFP has helped because there is a sense of accountability. The biggest hing that helped this time was that I started logging everything. I am getting much better at saying no to some things because I know that they will mess up my diet for the remainder of the day.

Tracking everyday has helped me a lot. Everyday has not been a good day, but I have started to get a much better handle on my food intake. I am 2.5 months into this and this place has helped.
-
I understand. I am 48 also and had to get motivated recently. I got the MFP app and started logging everything and started back riding my bike. That was just about 2.5 months ago. This place has been very helpful to me.

Didn't make it. SW=234 GW=214 Sept 12 = 216.2 = 89% of goal . . . so I am going to grade it as a B+.

Goal is 310 miles for September. Some friends from work and I are planning a century for November 5th. It is supposed to be a 1-way with us staging a vehicle prior to bring us all back.
-
Two lbs a week is doable. I started at 234 lbs with a goal of 180 at 6'2". I am 7 weeks in and have lost 16.5 lbs which includes a week where I lost nothing. I do, however, expect it to slow down a lot as I get below 200 lbs. I eat too much some days and too little some days, but with some exercise and trying to be careful…

Outstanding!!! Congrats.

Boatswain's Mate back in the day.

I have just started back cycling and am nowhere near ready to plan a Brevet series, but perhaps it is not too early to dream. It sure does sound like a lot of fun. Let me drop another 30 lbs and get up to riding a few centuries next year and then, perhaps, I will make a plan.

Update: SW=234 (July 6) CW=217.5 (Today, August 22) GW=214 (Sept. 12) I know I can make the last 3.5 lbs in 3 weeks if I just don't sabotage myself.
-
Welcome and good luck. Just turned 48 this week and have been here 6 weeks. My MFP friends have been very helpful.
-
Add me if you like. 48 y/o male and have been logging every day for 6 weeks.
-
Only two things work for me: 1. Go before work 2. Change at work take care of it before I go home If I go home, there is virtually no way I can get back out and exercise.
-
Feel free to add me. I have been here nearly 6 weeks and am making progress. I doing a little bit in the gym, but am trying to emphasize getting out and bicycling as much as possible.
-
Welcome. Add me if you like. I just started about 5 weeks ago.
-
Bad if you are not getting enough. Bad if you are getting too much. Good anywhere in between.
-
Outstanding. I just broke 220 today and trying to get to 180. I am now 44 days without a soda. I think this has been a big key. Man . . . I miss Cherry Coke.
-
Do it . . . but start off slowly. The fitness will likely come back. Just don't sabotage your progress by rushing. Also, have a blast doing it.
-
That is pretty awesome. You are well on your way.

I have started going to the gym, but only 3-4 times a week. I am basically just trying not to lose muscle while I am losing weight. I then want to put on a little muscle. It is good to hear that you seeing the results. Right now, I am just sore.

Logging has really helped me see what is actually going on in my diet. I am doing much better with it, but sometimes it is so annoying to order something that should be healthy, but then I get home and log it and find it is awful. It is, however, good to know. Before, I ate a lot of healthy things. But when I talked about…

Outstanding!!!

Shrimp and vegetables with sauce on the side. Then just dip the shrimp/veg to get a little bit of the taste of the sauce. This is working for me right now. I would love to hear the suggestions of others also.

Haven't run in decades due to avascular necrosis and then hip replacements, but I am riding my bike again. It is nice to see how just an hour on the bike opens up new calorie opportunities.
-
Mine is open to my friends. Some days I do well and some days are horrible, but I am moving in the right direction.
-
Diet first and then add in the exercise as you are able.

I am about to be 48. I was diagnosed with Lupus at 23 but have been remission for years. It did, however, damage my joints and kidneys. I had two hip replacements in 1998 and Dr is looking at revisions in the next few years. I am here to lose weight, but the diet tracker is also helping me get the sodium and potassium…
