  • It's interesting to see the stark differences between the before and after of these fellows. The click-bait format and questionable grammar had me quit after the first half dozen though. Some of those first few did specifically mention the player retiring with though not necessarily due to obesity related health concerns.…
  • Dang, that is very possible as women's flyweight is quite new. That hadn't occurred to me. Chookagian lists herself as flyweight so I went with that. Good catch.
  • Where on Earth did you get the impression I think he should not eat them at work?? The compromise is that he keeps his stash away from home. I don’t know about others but I have a difficult time resisting things in my home that I have no trouble resisting outside of it. I can easily turn down baked goods, chocolate and…
  • Fair enough. I honestly know nothing at all about Eva Marie other than what has been stated about her in this thread. Cheers!
  • So what is your point? I didn't state Eva Marie's weight and I didn't post a weigh in photo of Eva Marie. I posted photos of UFC fighters weighing in for a flyweight fight, one of which is the same height as Eva Marie, to show that it is perfectly possible to be 5'9" and weigh 125lbs without being a stick. Sorry, I…
  • You are very wrong. UFC is not WWE. UFC is mixed martial arts. There are definitely weight classes in UFC and what the women look like is largely immaterial as long as they can make weight and fight.
  • I agree is unlikely that either of those fighters walk around at 125lbs but women are less capable of cutting weight to make a lower weight class than men are. Some men drop 40lbs(!!!) to make weigh ins. Women tend toward 10lbs tops. I chose the weigh in photo though because Chookagian is guaranteed to be no more than…
  • There's almost no way that Eva Marie is more muscular than Liz Carmouche. She is an absolute beast (and I mean that in a positive way). She's also only 5'6" though. Sara McMann and Cris Cyborg are maybe more muscled than Liz, maybe. They fight in higher weight classes though, 135lbs and 145lbs respectively.
  • Why *kitten*? I posted a photo of a woman who is 5'9" and weighing in for a fight in the flyweight division (125lbs). The fighters can weigh up to 126lbs for non-title fights, which this would have been as neither of those ladies has ever held the belt, so she is no more than 126lbs as pictured.
  • It seems I am some sort of tyrant because there are a handful of things I don't let my husband bring into the house as I have a very difficult time not eating them if they are around. Mostly baked goods, chocolate and nuts. The baked goods and the chocolate were easy; he doesn't eat them anyway and was only bringing them…
  • It's certainly within the realm of possibility that she is that weight at that height. Her BMI is 19.0 at those stats so still within the healthy range. Most UFC fighters in the women's flyweight division tend to be between 5' 3" and 5' 6" but Katlyn Chookagian is 5' 9". She is pictured below on the left. The other fighter…
  • That may be the case. Again, FWIW, I had originally intended to cut down to under 120lbs but found myself at the same sort of impasse you are at now where I just couldn't seem to maintain the deficit to drop any more weight so I started eating at maintenance to see where that would take me. It's been slow, very slow, but I…
  • I've been recomping for just over two years now. Never had a proper scan or used calipers, just estimating based on appearance along with occasionally plugging my measurements into the US Navy calculator and I feel that I've managed to go from ~25%BF to ~22%BF. As such, I'd say 1-2%/month is an unfeasibly high goal. Now…
  • It's in the terms and conditions for the site somewhere. I'm not even sure where. The only reason I know is that I also have a scrip but have received a warning about it. Section 3.2 of the terms and conditions policy includes "no illegal activity". I guess since it's not legal everywhere they'd rather no discussion of it…
  • Or processed foods. It's virtually impossible to refrain from eating processed food unless all you eat is raw fruit and veg right off the vine. Cooking food is processing it for crying out loud.
  • You'll prolly want to edit out the mention of your smoking habit as it is strictly against MFP policy to discuss it despite the fact that it is legal in Canada, parts of Europe and many American states. I had trouble managing my weight until my doctor switched me to Wellbutrin for my anti-depressant. Apparently it's the…
  • 250g cottage cheese = ~220cal depending on the brand. I like Dairyland if you are in Canada.
  • Also, it doesn't matter how much a consumer scale is "out" by if you consistently use the same scale. Every measurement on that scale will be "out" by the same amount. For example, I changed scales in the summer from an inaccurate analog scale that measured in 2lb increments to a digital scale that measures to 1/10 of a…
  • I'm hard pressed to imagine a situation wherein more data is less accurate than less data. Maybe I lack imagination. I'm also not a scientist by trade. It seems to me, though, that the more measurements you have of anything, the more accurate the picture those measurements illustrate will be. I see no reason why weight…
  • Just be aware that he may never come around to your WOE, he may never use MFP no matter how successful you are. I'm 3 years into this, recomping now after losing all the weight I really wanted to. Meanwhile, husband is still eating the way he ever has and is still carrying 40lbs more than he should. I thought he would tune…
  • I have a whole bunch of things I just don't bring home anymore because I will eat it all in one sitting if I do. It's mainly baked goods for me: cookies, pie, cake, brownies, cinnamon buns, strudel etc. none of which leave a hole in my nutrition if I do not partake of them. Unless it's staple foods that you can't replace…
  • Very much this. For weight management, it doesn't matter what you eat, it only matters how much you eat. Husband and I are the poster children of this statement. He is vegetarian and eats very clean, no take out, no junk food. I am IIFYM and shovel whatever I like into my gullet as long I get enough protein each day and…
  • Not guilty but generally a little regretful because the fast food calorie bomb has used up so much of budget for the day that I really have to skimp on everything else to make it fit. It's analogous to being house poor or car poor. I can afford it in that I can make the payments, strictly speaking, but so little is left…
  • Posting a video of Dr. Fung talking about the marvels of Dr. Fung's snake oil doesn't prove much other than that he thinks his snake oil is fantastic. Peer reviewed science is needed to lend credence to his position. I think you'll be hard-pressed to find much, if any.
  • Punching a heavy bag or a speed bag isn’t intended to make you stronger, they’re for learning technique, timing and movement. Bag work is only a very small part of a boxer’s regimen and boxing itself is mostly cardio and endurance. I think you will find that most fighters do lots of strength conditioning over and above…
  • I'm confused by the claim that you can't spot increase. If all you ever do are bicep curls, the only thing that's going to get noticeably bigger are your biceps. I'm acquainted with a couple of fellows who are seemingly allergic to leg days but have massive arms and I'm sure plenty of others know bros like this too. You…
  • Cheese gives me incredible bang for the calorie buck. Costco sells a bag of Balderson's individually wrapped old cheddar that is only 90cal and tides me over very well.
  • I usually start out intending to savour but end up scarfing them so fast I don't even taste them in very short order. I don't keep bite size or snack size treats around because they're tricksy. I'd never eat half a dozen full sized chocolate bars but you better believe I will eat like 70 snack sized ones...and your arm too…
