  • Exercise helps stabilize my moods big time. B) I am a very intense, high energy guy who needs that outlet to engage something productive, challenging and beneficial. Everything in my life is ordered around goals, actions and reaching potential, so exercise fits right into that scope. If I am upset or discouraged, exercise…
  • How to log in cheat meal? I usually just don't... It's not cheating if it fits your calorie allowance. That ruins all the fun... >:) Seriously, I allow for that one day per week where I do not log foods and just eat whatever that one day. I lost over 100 pounds this way.
  • SOUNDS GREAT! :) I cook oatmeal in coconut milk with real butter, then add ginger with blueberries ...or cinnamon and sliced apples...or bananas and strawberries with a hint of nutmeg. I do NOT add raw sugar... I eat oatmeal with eggs and a multi-veggie smoothie.
  • LOL :D PERFECT!
  • Same here - except I have chicken and beef along with fish. It's actually quite easy! It's all about discipline... :D
  • For weight loss, you could eat only meat and lose weight...along with any notions of achieving optimal health. It's absurd. Good Luck!
  • It makes me feel like less of a woman, so yes, I'd call that a good thing. I'd make a lousy woman....lol
  • If you need to ask whether to "give up", you are suffering underlying issues that should be addressed. Good Luck!
  • It happens to men as well...
  • I remember those early days on MFP when I was rolling around at nearly 300 pounds. Just walking down the driveway to get the mail was exercise...lol Food intake was my major focus, and later, I decided to set goals related to optimal health and peak physical fitness. FIRST THINGS FIRST
  • If mere weight loss is a person's only goal, just restrict calories - whatever...create a deficit - whatever...and the weight comes right off. o:) You'll become a lighter version of yourself. Some of us want more, so to reach those goals, exercise was and remains paramount. Also, in addition to exercise to offset calorie…
  • For me, there is no solid, in stone weight "maintenance". I am either gaining or losing. I held steady my weight at various times in this journey, but it was always a fluctuating variable 5 pounds either way. Good Enough! And I can tell whether the number on the scale is bloat or creeping weight regain. I also take body…
  • SOLID COMMENTS! I have learned so much just lurking... My own experience with over-reaching paints a clear picture. When I lower calories too much, I get these wonderful results for about 3 weeks, and then everything just craters. My metabolism stifles, my hunger levels skyrocket, and I begin a fast regression. This is…
  • haha - same here - ANYWHERE -- ANYTIME!
  • This is a hard question to answer, because what I spend on health and fitness is considered an investment. Investments make money. If money is advanced toward gym memberships, nutritious whole foods or certain items of equipment or clothing, what is the return on that investment? I weigh money spent against money saved as…
  • It's a daily NSV I never want to take for granted. People treat me so much better fit than fat. The difference is huge.

  • No much is true about "everybody". :# I certainly have used food to bring pleasure into my past miserable existence and had to address some life issues to learn better coping skills. And yes, I love to eat, but when I do, I eat to feed my body mostly with nutritious foods that bring me closer to my goal of optimal health…
  • I count both, because my goals in this are not merely weight loss but optimal health and peak physical fitness. I actually count several items. You must define your own goals, then look to others who have achieved similar results and measure their activities against current scientific research. Sometimes when the science…
  • We all have ways of being self-motivated, and the comments above clearly demonstrate this. GREAT COMMENTS! <3 <3 <3 All I can add is my own take on internal motivation which is I just hated being fat. HATED IT! And I associate poor nutrition and lack of exercise with what I detest most in life: being fat...and sick...and…
  • Sounds great! I add greek yogurt to mine and include beets and onions along with various other fruits and veggies.
  • I remember getting that same news from my doctor, and it's what awakened something inside my very soul. He was going on and on about what medications I may need and the symptoms that would crop up...and so on... ...and when he was finished delivering all this terrible news, my doctor took off his glasses, looked me in the…
  • From a man's perspective... Five foot nine inches tall...
  • This is my position as well. I just am unable to manufacture feelings for my serving of meat, so I'd make a lousy vegan. o:)
  • If all your calorie numbers are close, then yes, it's usually OK. The problem with metabolism and calorie estimates usually come through faulty logging or crazy thyroid hormones that make calorie burn fluctuate. Women have it especially bad, so just take progress slowly and adjust your routines based on your results. Good…
  • Remember, fat makes you fat. That's what all the experts claim...oh, wait... THEY CHANGED THEIR MINDS - again... :p Seriously, as folks here are saying, you're fine, but I remember well the mass indoctrination to the foolish notion of "fat makes you fat". "Experts"...lol
  • Thanks, all I desire is to get back to peak health and physical fitness and never take that for granted again...
  • After a biking incident, I suffered a severe brain injury...and the weight piled on. Once my medical situation stabilized, I began work to return to a life that's healthy and physically fit. ALMOST THERE!
  • Suggestion 1: slow down. Just set your goal to 1 pound per week and enjoy this journey of steady, lasting result. You've come to the right place, and the MFP recommendations are solid. Good Luck!
  • I blew it yesterday...haha B) My son was making a late night pizza, and I showed him how to properly butter the pan and strategically place the toppings to get the most from each bite.....and then I added more cheese for him, then demonstrated how to broil the cheese..... Anyway, I ate most of it myself, but to my…
