I have always had a very high metabolism, and other folk I know gain weight if they smell bread baking. The MFP estimates were wrong for me, so I simply up-regulated my daily allowance for calories and raised slightly the numbers for exercise burn. Worked perfectly... :) As for the source for this energy, I prefer…

Well said! I am also wary of supplements and all the bogus claims. And a supplement sales person acts like proper nutrition from actual food is just not possible, so BUY MY SUPPLEMENTS o:)

Actually, all humans are addicted to sugar. Nobody would survive without it, but we can all survive without cocaine or heroin. We need sugar so bad that if we do not intake glucose in some form, our bodies can make its own. That's how addictive sugar is! >:)

I engage treats a few times per week. That's it! o:) I can't just moderate such times, or it's no treat. See folks, I don't want just a cookie; I want a dozen cookies...lol

That's a very reasonable goal! Good Luck - FRIEND ADD SENT!

I hit mine twice per week with stellar results. SALUTE!

^^^^^^^THIS^^^^^^ I can totally relate to the so called "sugar addiction". There probably is no such thing, but it sure felt like it when I began this journey. And even today I can't indulge certain foods without triggering cravings that could lead to me blowing my day's effort over a cookie binge. It's just not worth it...

By your looks, I'd say around 17% body fat...just a guess... :*

ATG or nothing...lol

WELL DONE! I use a 16/8 IF routine and it seemed to have generated some great results. I realize this is far from pure science, but when I find something that works, that's all the science I require. Results are what I seek. Again, great job, and thanks for sharing!

The times I got advice on supplement absorption usually proceeded a sales pitch from a guy selling supplements...

That'd be a bad choice for me in general, but if that fits your calorie allowance, you'll be fine. I prefer oats over grits, because they sustain my energy longer, and eggs over processed sausage is what I'd eat. Finally, I'd swap out the berries for apples. Our food intake is a function of our tastes for certain foods as…

Same here...

Water is so boring... :p You need to spend money on some foxy sport drink in an impressive bottle. That's how we know you're serious about training! lol

I mean diets that demand perfection. I used to get so intense with writing up a rigid food intake routine. It lead to failure time and again.

I raise my carb intake for the week of a competitive event without lowering fat or protein. The day before the event and the day of the event, I will restrict fat and protein. Afterward, I go out and lose anyway.... :'( Maybe you can do better...

Swimming is what I'd be doing. That's a great workout with little stress on the body.

Do whatever...and we should all be so secure in ourselves that it matters not that others might not like what they see jiggling while we run shirtless. I was not that guy... :( What's strange is that when I see a fat person running, my heart goes out - WTG! I gave a very large woman a thumbs up just this morning, and I…

This was an item that really stuck out. All this means is that others were put off my my unsightly appearance, and that most people will judge us on our ability to affect a healthy, fit body. That's just nature I suppose....

Hippocrates said "let food be your medicine"....and I have abused that as well... Nothing can comfort my troubled soul quite like a half gallon of ice cream with a whole bag of cookies... I just decided not to be that guy any more...

I DISAGREE WITH MOST OF THIS.....which was why I regained my weight several times over the years... :p Seriously, great post, and oh, so true! I am sure others could maintain doing whatever, but most would do well following closely these very principles.

It matters not. Exercise is paramount for physical fitness, so if that's important to you, never skip a workout but schedule rest days. In 6 months it'll be too cold to train...or whatever...

I take a cheat day...more like a cheat meal or two one day per week. It keeps me sane. I know there are stronger folks who scoff at guys like me. Laugh it up! :p Knowing and owning my weak nature helps me plan ahead with that one day per week. Long-term it helped keep me on track. I wish I had more discipline with food,…

I use all sorts of creative alternatives wherever I am. It's too easy to just skip a workout, because the equipment is not optimal.
-
I just use two stools...and for standing push ups, the picnic table bench works well. What am I missing here?

Women have such a harder time getting their bodies to drop weight. It's an evolutionary, survival mechanism. :( The solution is to just keep at it, and in time your body's hormones will respond but so slowly. Make sure you're feeding your body great nutrition and exercising regularly. It just takes time, and we're all…

I learned to love exercises I once detested after they produced great results. Sometimes in life we just need to change. OUCH! <3

In my own journey, I had to take breaks to maintain for a season so my body's "Set-Point" could reset. There must be something to it, or maybe it's all in my mind...lol I just roll with what works!

I went to Louisiana and gained a fast 6 pounds having tons of cajun foods pushed from every direction. It's so hard to work down and so easy to lose ground. It's good you stopped the bleeding now!

You're on the right road whatever your motivation. Getting back in the game has a way of waking us up, so happy hunting...lol
