Most definitely! I lost eating back all the calories I got from my Fitbit/MyFitnessPal and so far am maintaining the same way.

As a South Jersey (right over the bridge-lol) Celiac, I heartily agree with you about the cheese wiz on cheesesteaks! I’ve been gluten free since 2005 but fondly remember the delicious cheesesteaks from Gino’s (real provolone).

I’m 5’2.5” and 62 years old. MyFitnessPal has me at 1580 to maintain at 130, according to my Fitbit my TDEE is right around 1700. I lost quite nicely eating 1400 plus Fitbit step points.

I’m so sorry for the loss of your nephew.
-
Welcome! I’m 62 and have lost 43 pounds since January with MyFitnessPal. Best of luck
-
Me too:(. I use much the same strategy as you do.
-
Definitely 3-4 weeks or so. I got the flu last year and it took at least that long-especially the cough.

I always used half and half in my tea and just worked it into my calories. Recently, I’ve suspected I may have a problem with lactose and have switched to Fairlife whole milk. I like the taste and, like others, the extra protein.

Great work! So happy for your health improvements:)

I love Darjeeling, I don’t add sugar to mine-just milk.
-
I hope you get to try it! Like I said, I was surprised at how sweet it is considering it doesn’t contain sugar. I am drinking it with milk, and I bet it would be good iced also.

I got to Harney and Sons in NYC over the weekend! The place is tea heaven  I got the Hot Cinnamon Spice (delicious-surprisingly sweet), English Breakfast (best EB I’ve ever had-so crisp and clean tasting) and Highlands Darjeeling (light but flavorful). Edit for spelling

You do look great! Congrats on all of your hard work!

Yes. I lost a total of 53 pounds and didn’t notice a big difference until I lost the last 10.

That’s been my experience also. Several people I know (and I will include myself, *previously-not anymore*) who are/were overweight or obese didn’t agree with BMI for various reasons. My personal reason was because I thought I had a “large frame” (I do not). A friend (a young man) especially raved against the doctor who…

The only apples I like are MacIntosh and only in the fall when they’re right off the trees.

For weight loss I don’t follow any specific diet, I just eat foods I enjoy in quantities that fit into my calorie goals. It’s really simple (not always easy)- but if you take in less calories than you burn, and do it day by day over time you will lose weight:)
-
My goal weight changed along the way. I started at 183 and hoped to get down to 150. When I got there, I just continued on with what I was doing and am now at 130. I’m maintaining at the moment but at some point will work to lose 5 more. Maybe get to 150 (since you said you could be happy with that) and then decide from…

During the week it’s dinner. It changes on the weekend depending on what we’re doing.
-
I’m encountering a lot of “no smalls” also. I see I’m not alone.
-
It is the same as for someone who likes various kinds of food-eat what you like in portions that fit into your calorie goal.
-
Out of habit, usually around 8-9 pm or so.
-
Yes! Exactly!!

OP, a comfort is that at least others see it. Hopefully we will catch up. I just told my husband what I posted (after I asked him if my upper thighs look too large for the shorter sweater I’m wearing) and he just rolled his eyes. lol

I spent the day in NYC yesterday, and according to my Fitbit I walked 9.5 miles so I felt very comfortable going to my favorite gluten free bakery/cafe and totally ordering 3 of their amazing (large) cookies in different flavors and sharing them with my husband.

I went from a tight 12 to a 4, and I swear I don’t see much of a change. I still focus in on the areas where I’m too heavy. It’s so strange-i know the change has taken place but I still can’t fully wrap my mind around it.
-
Yes!!
-
Omg this is so true!
-
It can just kinda sneak up on you over the years. The important thing now is that you recognize what you’re dealing with and are willing to make changes. I think you’ll do fine—keep us posted!

Me too. I’m post menopausal but not hypothyroid. I don’t have trouble losing as long as I stick to my calorie goals. It’s harder once you’re close to goal/have a healthy BMI- weight loss can slow down but it’ll happen with a lot of patience.
