  • Hi, I’ve been on mfp for two and a half years now. I’m 51 years, 6’ tall and was my highest weight at 175 lbs after an early menopause and a change of job to more sedentary work in my mid 40s. I had always been fairly slim before that - a lifelong exerciser with a very active job. I joined mfp in 2015 to lose the weight…
  • I agree about their past messaging as well. I am a six footer with an (obviously) larger frame and their CEO’s blunder about sizing and butts and fabric really put me off the brand. I really don’t like even walking into the store to be honest, although it’s always so busy in there! However I got a pair of 3/4 length tights…
  • I just got back from a vacation to Florida myself. I did log and *sort of* keep to maintenance the first few days. By the second week I stopped logging and just enjoyed myself. I didn’t go hog wild though. I had a beer when I wanted to, ate some sweets when I wanted to, and ordered what I wanted in the restaurants. I…
  • I am a fitness nerd. And older one, mind you. But a hardcore, life-long exerciser who thinks everyone should be exercising at their best capacity for long term optimal health. Open diary. Plant based. In maintenance though.
  • Wow! You guys are awesome! I haven’t left yet. This Thursday is when we leave so I’m hoping we can google one to stop at (not far from the highway) and get snacks for the trip down which will take a couple of days. Can’t wait to get out of the cold and into some warmth!
  • Are they zereshk? Because I punched that in and and something came up at 21 cal per two tbsp. Based on the shape and size and sourness of zereshk, this might be close? Dried sour cherries often have oil on them, whereas I haven’t seen dried zereshk with oil.
  • Ok, I’ve started my grocery list!!! Thanks again to everyone responding!!!
  • Thank you so much! I’m really excited actually - since I know it’s such a popular place and people love it!
  • Swimming is an awesome form of exercise and is my favourite for many reasons! I think everyone should learn to swim! As for swim calorie burns on MFP : When I was eating half of my calories back I was still losing quite rapidly despite setting for a .5 pound loss per week. I did some research on different swim calculators…
  • Thanks! I will take a look. The main reason why I posted this is that I have been tired lately and having trouble recovering from longer and/or harder exercise sessions, especially when they are back to back (one day to the next). However I have chronic pain and I don’t sleep well at all, which most definitely affects my…
  • Thank you so much to everyone for your speedy replies!
  • What I miss the most is the Gardein meatless products. For a lot of vegans and vegetarians (and people trying to reduce their meat consumption) this stuff was a cornerstone in the kitchen, because you could sub-out meat for “chickn” strips or “beefless tips” in your stews, stir fry and Fajitas. I have to say of all the…
  • Hey! I used to hate tempeh too, until I found Lightlife brand. It’s very mild and will take on the flavour of the marinade really nicely. I make it using this recipe. https://www.vegetariantimes.com/recipes/glazed-maple-mustard-tempeh-strips-with-collards It is super yummy! I found the recipe to be very forgiving. I sub…
  • It sounds like body dysmorphia to me....
  • Last year my husband and I decided we'd done enough shelling out for the last 30 years so we decided we would go out instead. We like some of the neighbourhood kids though and we didn't want to shortchange them so I picked up some large chocolate bars and some other treats and arranged them all in little Halloween gift…
  • Osteoarthritis of a joint is graded from one to four, from mild to moderate severity. Treatment varies depending upon what stage you are in. Stages are diagnosed by using radiography (X-ray, CT scan, MRI) and are assigned based upon space between a joint, osteophyte formation and deformation of the joint. Severe arthritis…
  • So can I respond if I'm 6 feet? Because some of us "tall ladies" are even taller, we have many of the same issues as previous posters, and most likely have even a harder time getting clothes and shoes that fit us properly. "Tall sizes", from many chain retailers, seem to be geared towards women who are about 5'8" or 5'9",…
  • I am a hair shy of 6' and maintaining at 145. I have a very small frame, with a 4.5" wrist, so I'm happy with this weight. In my twenties before I had my kids I was lighter, but I had a really active job too. Plus I've always exercised my whole life. That menopause thing really did a number on me in my early forties and…
  • Get a suitable bike carrier and take him everywhere with you! Then when he gets older get a trail-a-bike and also his own bike to learn. Most likely he'll get to love bike rides and then you'll be a "biking family." We did this for years with two kids. We biked in the evenings and had big bike outings on weekends packed…
  • Swimming is one of those things that gives many people with disabilities a new sense of freedom and the ability to exercise, where they couldn't on land. Ignore anyone who says you swim "weirdly." That's a terrible thing to say. If they truly wanted to help, then they might start up a pleasant chat with you and then offer…
  • Also it helps to get yourself some middle aged mfp friends who are post menopausal, inspirational and working it! There are lots on this site!
  • I had a similar goal two years ago. Well, actually my goal was to continue be as fit as I possibly could be (I've always exercised). I wanted to lose my menopausal weight gain (25 lbs) and be the same weight as I was in my early thirties. I succeeded. I'm in maintainance now, but I still post daily. My diary is open to…
  • I don't like the sounds of that therapist of yours. "I wish I could help you?!" - what kind of advice is that?!! Find a new one, and hopefully one who knows cognitive behavioural therapy. Then you will have some homework to do every single day. You'll hopefully also make yourself some *tiny* goals - keep a log, make lists…
  • Having atopic eczema, I have a lot of chronic issues with my skin. Chlorine definitely makes it worse. I never use soap in the shower as it dries my skin even more. I rinse off as best I can and use Curel moisturizer after. Not all moisturizers are equal and this particular one is the best in my opinion. It's more…
  • I've bought it numerous times. Tastes nice alone, quite coconutty. It's great on oatmeal and in smoothies. I personally wouldn't sub it for a can of coconut milk in cooking though - especially in Indian/Malaysian/Thai where you are looking for a stronger coconut base to offset the heat and/or spice. It's not potent or…
  • Feel for ya @juliet3455 - it sucks to be grounded. This has been going on a while for you! @ryenday is indeed tearing it up!
  • I like fish. I eat fish. And then I read this yesterday :/ https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/the-bad-news-is-that-fish-are-eating-lots-of-plastic-even-worse-they-may-like-it/2017/09/01/54159ee8-8cc6-11e7-91d5-ab4e4bb76a3a_story.html?utm_term=.3cb1e260b0da
