Thanks so very much! The past few days have been kind of bummy but, for the first time, food did not become my comfort!!!

FOR ALL MY BREAD-ADDICT FRIENDS: Try cloud bread! I've made this many times and it makes a great substitute. And yes, they can be stored. Just make sure to put saran wrap or wax paper between the buns! Also, I made some cauliflower crust pizza the other day. And oh wow yum! And NO flour! Forming the crust into a big square…

Such an inspirational note! My family redefined dysfunctional. Still does! But one thing I do know- and agree with you on- is that God makes a difference. All too often, people of faith (any faith) think it means there's something wrong with them if they struggle with a problem. I hope you don't mind but I'm going to take…

Though there's a bunch of quack science out there claiming that refined sugar is a drug (an opiod), and while it has some of the same effects on the brain, the fact is, sugar is addictive mainly because we start consuming it at a very early age and our bodies learn to crave it. And like any other craving, there's only 2…

You could also look at a hobby. Something you really enjoy. I took up glass etching and making candle holders with recycled glass. Keeps my hands busy!

Our mothers did us a great disservice in telling us not to waste our food. Fact is, what they should tell us is how to take LESS to our plates so as to avoid the issue of wasted food to begin with. I mentioned in a post that had gotten eradicated from the forums about a rule I've developed called the ONE BITE RULE. It…

Here's a thought: make alternatives a mission. I used to be an insulin reliant diabetic type 2. That changed when I decided to put the same creativity into finding alternatives to carbs that I put into making my favorite treats. Bread is a comforting food. Believe me, I know. But there are alternatives. Maybe stop buying…

And I believe you can end that cycle. You may need to seek counseling or a real life support group. Or at least get a real life accountability partner.

You're very welcome! And a big thanks to all who are participating! Its so nice to know Im not alone!

Gal, I get ya! A while back I went out to dinner at Outback with some friends. They steaked, tatered, etc. And I watched. Me and my Caesar salad. I kind of resented it, yanno? So then I asked one of them: how can you pig out like that and never gain a pound! She told me that her secret is to eat skinny. Now, whether this…

And it doesnt help when you log your exercise- even MFP gives you "extra" cals! So I decided to stop logging exercise. One thing to keep in mind is that not eating enough cals can harm you. So, if you're on 1200 cals, say, and have 300 left, by ALL MEANS eat them! But if its like 20 cals left, don't sweat it! :)

You know what I see? I see a carbo-holic. No, this isn't a psychiatric condition lol. But it is part of a food addiction. Note that your side dish- what should be smaller- is the tuna! A protein! and the star is a carb. As a recovered type 2 diabetic I understand what that means, too. The hard part is cutting back (not…

Hi everyone. Sorry I've been gone but I haven't been well. Gall bladder issues. And still had to work - ugh! I am so glad to see people opening up. I don't feel so alone now.

You can do it and when you do, share with the rest of us your secrets ;)

Hey, I start over every week it seems. Like you, I didn't always have a sweets addiction (craving crazy cake right now, in fact). But later on- post menopause and after becoming diabetic- I got the sugar bug big time! I had thought about lap band and my ins. would pay for it but I am such a chicken about surgeries that I…

I was going to a local group called over-eaters anonymous. It helped a lot but closed down.

Sooooooo right! I also need to get some stuff around the house for sick days. Hubbin' isn't a cook (not unless you want to take your life in your hands lol) so I need to have easy cook stuff around.

So yesterday and today I'm (so far) back on the wagon and downright proud of myself! Let me explain. Like so many people over fifty, I was taught never to throw away food. I was told, as were so many, that I should eat all the food on my plate because children were starving in other lands. Once I asked my Mom (the world's…

Alright!!! I seem to start over every week! ugh!

The bane of my existence is not planning ahead. I should've planned ahead for working and for eating at a meeting. Ugh!

I never liked sugar much until i became diabetic and had to cut back on other carbs. Then, suddenly I wanted sugar! I began to crave chocolate deserts especially. I do like something sweet even still. What I go looking for now are things made with substitutes that don't give me the runs. If its made with Splenda or Truvia…

Thanks so much. Prayer truly works! I got up, worked out. Called the day a new start. Ate lean ham for protein (and nothing else); had a salad with some chopped chicken, smoked oysters, EVOO and a small ciabata roll.

I messed up again. Fell off the wagon. It started with Friday night. We went out to eat at a baked potato dinner. Then yesterday snacked on a long ride. Then today got lazy and ordered pizza for work with (ugh) pizza bits with cheese n bacon. And you know what? The first few bites were good. The rest was force of habit and…

oh i made a group (so it wouldn't be in a thread and annoy anyone). I will be posting various designs in there as well. I kind of feel like this helps me support others and gets my own mind focused.

Whew!! Remind me to watch out for you! lol Actually that sounds really good! I wonder if getting a boxing bag and hanging it near my husband would help? ;) Just kidding! Really though, I think sometimes we develop coping skills in our younger years that simply aren't healthy. This sounds like a great idea when one is…
