Do you pronounce the H in that? :D

No, Birds dropping topping is a much better description
-
I absolutely love tinned cream even though it tastes nothing like fresh cream! The worst possible version has to be Bird's Dream Topping but I'm probably showing my age. The bitter disappointment, as a child, of being offered cream which turned out to be dream topping has never left me
-
It's total rubbish, though, as it doesn't whip. Double cream every time!

It should be OK to eat high calorie foods that are not on that list?
-
Sorry to hear that. Are you being treated (antibios and ppis for example) If so then it should clear up. What foods have you been told to avoid? I sympathise, I've experienced setbacks too and it sucks when you've worked so hard to gain, but, you've done it once and you can do it again!
-
No worries, my apologies too. It does get confusing on threads like this where a number of people are addressing different issues!
-
I wasn't told that, either, I think it was only a few specific ones
-
Sorry, I have absolutely NO idea what you are talking about. I'm not using an alternate account! And nowhere did I say I have switched to Stevia. Neither did I say that sweeteners play havoc with my gut? I think you are confusing me with someone else. I was answering your comment in which you questioned whether it is "all…

I suffer from ibd and was referred to a dietician who put me on the fodmap diet. *Some * sweeteners are high fodmap, meaning they cause gastrointestinal symptoms in some individuals. As a rule of thumb I was advised to avoid those ending in OL (eg sorbitol) It doesn't necessarily apply to all sweeteners and most people are…

It's not a good problem to have and it's hard for others to understand this I have gs finally (by logging my good and exercise accurately) managed to gain weight. Accurate logging is important as you may not be eating as much as you think you are! The links posted above are really helpful. However, I still have quite…

It's never acceptable but people will always do unacceptable things. I'm still laughing at the long stare while stuffing food in your open mouth suggestion. I'm definitely going to do that next time someone comments on my food choices
-
I have a chronic illness which means my diet is quite restricted and people often comment, saying things like, should you really be eating that? It can be really annoying but I find saying something like, thank you for your concern but you really don't need to worry about me, or, even better, making a joke out of it,…

:D I have to say I'm disappointed, this whole thread has made me want to check out planet fitness. Looks like I'll have to fall back on my local leisure centre

As said above, it includes all sugars, not just added ones. You don't have to stick to it, you can set your own goals. Recently when I had to cut out added sugar prior to a blood test, my sugar level in my diary for that day was still around 40 because of naturally occurring sugars in my food.
-
Do you mean, it didn't increase your appetite, or that you didn't put on weight? The only way you will gain weight is to eat more. If it didn't work last time, it probably won't this time. I to empathise with the struggle to eat more. I love food but get full very quickly and until I started using mfp and weighing and…

Yes, I can see that. Honestly I think it was a misunderstanding but I'm shutting up now! :)
-
Sorry, I'm not sure why you are being so hostile. My fault for not being clear enough. And apologies for the quote mistake. I'm not ignoring anything, neither am I arguing and neither am I insisting that people eat things that make them ill. Can we drop it now, please?

French dressing? Less yukky than mayonnaise - oil, good quality vinegar or lemon juice, mustard, honey, is how I make it
-
I don't think they were referring to food allergies. I think they were referring to hay-fever. If you aren't allergic to honey then there's no harm in trying local honey to see if it desensitises you to local pollen (though I gather it's a myth) I didn't see anyone recommending that you should eat honey if you're allergic…

Great news!

Could this be more to do with some forms of protein being also high in saturated fats? I've only skimmed the articles and intend to look properly later so I don't know if Alzeimers was the only type of dementia studied. There are other types such as vascular dementia which may well be diet related. Hard to balance this…

Actually, carbs and protein have the same amount of calories per gram. And, not everyone finds carbs easy to eat - it's very much an individual thing. I find it hard to eat high volumes of food and find it easier to reach my calorie goal with fats and protein. Things like rice and pasta fill me up too quickly
-
I don't know about things like mass gainers, bcaas etc but, protein powders, such as whey protein, ARE foods and for those of us who struggle with eating sufficient calories and protein, they're very useful. I agree I wouldn't bother with them if I had no issues eating enough 'real' food.

This is the weight gaining Forum?

This! I'm currently seeing a physiotherapist because of lower back issues and have had to stop my lifting program. I'd assumed it was things like deadlifts were the cause but, having looked at my form, she told me I arch my back when doing ohps. Apparently a common thing in people whose shoulders are not stable - the back…

Telling people who are seriously /dangerously underweight, and /or apparently have body image issues, that they need to get on a heavy lifting programme, when they're barely eating enough to stay alive

I get what you're saying but I guess the point is that it should be possible to aim for gyms to be less intimidating, without stereotyping other groups of gym users
