My 40s have been my favorite decade so far! I feel like I've accomplished so much in terms of self improvement in that time, especially now that my kids are older. I started running and lifting weights, meal prepping, joined hiking groups, tried new things like rock climbing and SUP and kayaking, and I bought myself a…

Mini goal one is to look fantastic at a girls' beach trip at the end of the month. Mini goal two is much bigger - in August I'm spending 15 days on an active adventure tour in Costa Rica to celebrate my 50th birthday. I'll be rappelling down waterfalls, ziplining over the cloud canopy, river rafting, mountain biking -…

Have you only seen your regular doctor for this, or have you been referred to a gastroenterologist? If you haven't been referred, you should consider it. I have Laryngopharyngeal reflux, which is similar to GERD. I suffered with no treatment for over a decade because the primary meds used for treatment make me sick (the…

As a fairly lean person, the one time I don't eat "diet" portions is at a potluck or other event. I'm not one to eat out normally, as I prefer to cook, and I have prepped meals and brought my own food to work for years. So if it's a social gathering I'm going to enjoy the food and not worry about it. I role model healthy…

I tried on shorts I haven't fit into for 2 years. Not only did they fit easily, I needed a belt!

Meal prep. I never have to worry about what I'm eating because I bring food to work with me every day, and it's already been portioned out to meet my goals. Weigh and measure food. We all think we can estimate well, but in reality it's impossible to know how many calories you're really taking in unless you weigh and…

Are you only looking for cardio options, or do you lift weights as well? I couldn't really do any cardio when I was in a boot, but I did continue with modified weight lifting and yoga to stay in shape. Some options for non-weight bearing lifts include: Leg Extensions Seated Good Mornings Leg Curl Weighted Back Extension…

I have a girls' trip to the beach at the end of May with some awesome MFPeeps, so that's motivating me to drop this last 6 pounds.

I prefer to cross train, so I run, lift weights, do yoga, and hike extensively. It keeps things interesting and improves cardiovascular health, strength, flexibility, endurance, and results in a decent calorie burn.

One guy asked me about my interests (which include home renovation projects). He told me I'm too independent and need to learn how to lean on a man, because men like to feel needed. Okay, then...

Right??? Because my selection criteria is all about what they want. :D

It's simply a matter of what you're attracted to, nothing more. I'm 5' 10" and well over 6' in heels. I prefer to date men over 6' because I don't enjoy feeling like a giraffe next to a man. When I was on dating sites I would get messages from men telling me to change my profile because "some men like dating taller women."…

I'll be 47 in a couple of weeks. I consider myself pretty fit, but every year it gets harder to battle the weight that tries to creep back on. Still, I'm really proud of how hard I work to be the best me I can be. Running, weight lifting, yoga, hiking. An active lifestyle keeps me looking and feeling great.
