  • I go to Planet Fitness. It's one of the better gym's I've gone to, lots of equipment available. If your looking to lift heavy I know that its not the right place for that...but to start off I think it has everything you need as a beginner. No complaints on my end with my Planet Fitness, great people running it, always…
  • OhI hear you on the depressing northern winters, I find if I don't run I get bogged down and even pretty anxious. Running is so great for letting off some steam and just having you time
  • You can look online for speed intervals, that'll help you train to increase speed. I'm training for a half marathon, a 6 month program. First two months are endurance only, so like today, I had to run 6km...speed didnt matter, all that matters is to finish the 6k, run the whole thing. I'm a pretty slow runner, I'm average…
  • Thank you! I upped my cal intake yesterday. I started MFP as sedentary back in....July? Maybe August? I now run/train for a half 4 days a week and lift 3...and I never log calories burned...so i never eat them back. So I decided to up my cal intake based on another thread on MFP. Give it a whirl and see whats what. For the…
  • I take a pre workout but not drink form, mine are pills. I'm crazy sensitive to caffeine/stimulants, so I'm happy I found something that works for me :)
  • I run 4 days (as per mt half marathon training) and lift 3...so I work out 7 days a week.
  • I think my best advice would be just stick to it. There will be days where you go over your calories, don't let it deter you. There will be days where you just don't want to workout, tuck it away and move forward. You have a goal, keep that goal in mind. In terms of food its a learningg curve, find what you like to eat and…
  • Ohhh...ok I see. So, I probably won't do that math then for myself, just because I don't log my workouts anyways, so I never eat those calories back. I've only changed my activity level on MFP to the next highest. Thank you for explaining though! That makes a lot of sense!
  • Can you give me an example of this? My brain isn't working and I don't quite understand what you mean. I'm new to lifting as well and although I don't log my workouts it would still be nice to know how much I'm burning.
  • Thank you very much for the informative reply :)
  • I would have googled if I thought it was important enough to. Thanks for the info...
  • Thank you so much! Especially the 15lb dumbells to 30lb barbell, i wouldnt have thought to added the two together :)
  • Ohhhhh *kitten*...i didnt see that part...so should I manually change the stats then? I don't really know what my 1RM is. I squatted 60lbs 4 days ago at 5x12...
  • I don't know. I didnt understand that either. The app told me to log in my best. So squats lets say, i put that I squat 60lbs and wants me to start the program squatting 30lbs...i'll do it i guess but i thought that was a tad backwards..
  • So I set up Strong Lifts 5x5, it says for my row I lift 5lbs... The bar at my gym weighs 15lbs....should I just start with an empty bar then? Or use 5lb dumb bells? I was doing rows with the dumbbells at 15lbs...
  • Thank you all very much! Some really great advice on here and really awesome links :) I really appreciate all your help!
  • I was just going to message you! I checked out that link and I think I'm going to go with Strong Lifts. Thank you all so much :) I'm excited to try this!
  • Thank you, I will check out that thread for sure. I didnt realize there were so many rules. The app i have gives you loads of workouts to do for strength training and which muscles your working out... So if I switched to a 5x5 am I increasing at all during the workouts? Thats one reason I liked the number 12 lol gave me a…
  • Thanks for all the info guys :) I might try an actual 5x5... People at the gym probably thought I was ridiculous lol
  • I do about 5 workouts per routine, at the 5x12 takes me about 45min. I felt like I was limiting the areas I was working on because it took so long
  • Oh ok...so...if I want to see more muscle definition I'd see it better doing a lower rep but slightly heavier weights?
  • My goal is to continue to lose weight, i lost 15lbs with solely cardio and a hiit program, but now I want to gain strength and to tone.. I chose 12 because it seemed like an achievable number. So I should be lifting slightly heavier than I am now at less reps?
  • So is this not proper then? Am I doing more work than I need to? Why couldnt the internet be this clear? Now I feel stupid lol
  • I don't know what TDEE is...so the Scooby comment really went over my head. Thanks for the advice though...
  • Thank you. I did some extra research and came across another thread on here. Because I never ever log my exercises in, thus I never eat my calories back, it stated I should bump to the next activity level. So instead of slightly active, I put myself to active. Maybe that will help with the tiredness? Although, now I have…
  • Thank you all very much. I'm going to have to review the foods I choose. I love avocado, just not on its own. So maybe that's wht is causing the issue? Now that I have found a means of eating it, i eat it every morning, about 2oz every morning. Maybe it's something my stomach needs to adapt to?
  • Hey! I do take a pre workout that I have been using since mid November. I do get that pumped feeling, and I do see more definition especially in my arms, but my tummy is def bloated. In the morning its not bad, but by the afternoon it is. I'll have to review my food intake. What would cause that? Excess carbs? The only…
  • I use Fitness Point Pro. I'm new to lifting, but it gives you loads of workouts to do. So I pick about 5 per area to train, and then change it up after 4 weeks to keep it fresh. It gives you the ability to track your progress and also times out rests betweens reps, which i think is important. So far its one of the easiest…
  • Thank you for the information. This was helpful. Being told no one understands was not helpful. Thought I was pretty clear lol I just want a new routine but with weights and gave an example of what I had been using. I looked up 5x5 and seemed a little limited so I did download wendler and it seemed smoother to use. I wasnt…
  • I actually never said I wasn't committed to changing my habits. I think I've done well and I have my goals in mind. 90 days was just a training program, which I can change up as I choose without being accused of not being committed to my workout routine. Thanks though. I do appreciate the other comments though, I will be…
