  • Food ideas, I usually stick with chicken and seafood, I tend to stay away from other meats, I find it keeps me a bit more on track, not sure why. This is my favourite at the moment! rice noodles(100-150g), 1egg, 3oz chicken and 100mushroom (adjust for people) then either soy sauce or curry powder and soy sauce (and fish…

  • Change them for sweet potato? And start to prepare them in a better way. Make your own chips. Don't use oil etc. Then if you want to stop eating them start eating smaller portions of potato and slowly go less and less until you're hardly eating it. Or well don't buy it and you can't eat it. However if your eating of…
  • The gym (UK chain) Pros: Open 24/7 which is good I tend to go at 10pm-1am most days Plenty of machines Different areas Weight machines in a 'neutral' zone so you don't feel too intimidated. Cons: If you do want to go during 7-9 and 5-9 it's usually really busy The personal trainers there are really creepy
  • It sounds like you're possibly not counting your calories correctly if you're eating that little plus exercise. Is it possible you're not weighing your food? Or using unverified foods? Or maybe forgetting to count things like oil and sauces and drinks that all add up?
  • I do this too. One extreme to another.
  • Exercise. When I'm feeling low I try go to the gym it either picks me up a bit of makes it so if I do comfort eat it doesn't matter as much
  • It's natural to lose 6-10lbs in your first couple of weeks of working out. Just remember don't be discouraged when the loss drops down a bit.
  • Found fizzy drinks (even within my calorie goal) limit my loss somehow? Then obviously if you're weight training you'll be gaining muscle so you can lose weight and gain muscle and it would show as no change of weight gone up
  • Does broccoli freeze well?
  • I'm simply stating that I would have needed that push.

  • Do you find you eat less than you should ?
  • Did I say I had a fridge full of fizzy drinks? No. But I live about 2 minutes from a shop, so when I do buy just one it's just as easy to go get another. Plus the fact I don't have too much money, so when I do buy one I'm not going to want to buy 500ml for £1.39 when the 2L bottle is on sale for £1. So it's all or nothing.
  • I explained how I would have reacted in that situation, and in that situation I probably wouldn't have pushed to find out if anything was wrong unless I had people bugging me.

  • I'd like to note I don't have much will power - it's all or nothing with me drinking fizzy drinks. I can't manage to just have one I'll end up having many servings. I find it easier to stay away from them altogether (apart from special occasions) instead of have them in proportion. Silly I know but hey
  • Firstly, thank you for answering, on here you get a lot of hate for saying you're undereating, people aren't willing to understand how - so I'm glad I'm not the only one who has had this problem of too little. On a typical day I don't have breakfast (night shifts and hard to fit that in) then I have a simple sandwich /…
  • I weigh all my food - probably obsessively, and on the occasion that I'm unsure I pick the higher calorie food just in case. I used the word stuffing myself because I'm completely full, I'm eating the same amount as I was when I was much heavier. So it's hard to go from eating that to trying to eat even more. (I've never…
  • This was interesting to read, I would imagine if I was in your situation I most likely wouldn't bother to have followed it up so much, talked to multiple doctors or specifically cared / noticed my weight gain. I probably would have put it down to bad eating habits or something. I think in your case yes the comments…

  • The situation in question I'm talking about is when a stranger on a social app (which is anon) asked for people's opinions. So as she looked about 16-17st and my height of 5'6 which puts her at a high 38 Bmi. So naturally I said (along the lines of) 'You're the same height as me and several stone larger, as I'm classed as…

  • My friend who's naturally extremely skinny would take the 'you look thin' as an insult, it's not positive at all, just commenting on her weight when she knows it. Which brings me to why is that okay but the opposite of thin, fat, isn't okay to say? When it's taken the same way by the person. You used it as a description as…

  • Many take the first, any concerned nicely worded comment, as fat shaming simply because you're talking about their weight
in Fat shaming Comment by edena001 May 2017
  • Then, please, explain why it's socially acceptable to tell a skinny person they're skinny or underweight or need to eat more food?

  • One is being rude, the other isn't

  • I live in England. But I still think it's okay to tell someone they're overweight, just as you'd say smoking is bad for you, overeating or not exercising till you're overweight isn't healthy for tou

  • Yes I've recently told someone they were overweight (this was on a silly social media page where she asked for opinions) and I got a lot of fat shaming hate, despite saying it really nicely. I've found this is the response you get whatever the situation, which is a shame seeing as it's 'okay' to shame other people with…

  • This is based mostly at the people who ignore it. I wouldn't want my children to walk around thinking is okay to be obese, which they're more likely to do if there's obese people around them.

  • Yeah this is what I'm trying to say. But many people say this is fat shaming and you shouldn't be able to say that to someone. Or they go overall 'I love my body I don't need to lose anything' but sure you can love your body, but it's unhealthy so you should do something about it
in Fat shaming Comment by edena001 May 2017
  • Yes there is shaming on both sides. And it's currently acceptable to tell someone they're underweight and need to put on a few pounds. But not okay to say it for overweight people. I think that's the main reason I think it's okay, because it is the other way.
in Fat shaming Comment by edena001 May 2017
  • I think people jump too quickly to someone being a jerk. If you say someone is overweight or obese that's totally okay, people should know that's not okay to be unhealthy. I'm obviously not talking about people saying 'you're a fat ****' or something.

  • After someone who's been in the situation to give me advice on how they adapted to eating those calorie dense foods - or more food in general. I'm extremely full but I only reach 900 calories on a normal day. This is with me trying really hard to 'stuff' myself as so many of my calories were from drinks before, I have…
  • I think a cheat day is a bad idea. You can easily ruin all your progress. If you're going out in the evening then try and limit your intake so you can splash out in the evening. I had a 'cheat' day today but I only went 7 calories over my aim of 1200. Try not to go more than 200 over your goal.
