  • I use the Silk unsweetened vanilla to drink but also in smoothies. I love a creamy pasta and shrimp dish so instead of the heavy whipping cream I used to use I substitutes the Silk Soy Creamer. It is marketed as a coffee creamer but we have to think outside the box.
  • I go over my DV% every few days but it is all natural....i.e. Fruit. I think the fiber, other healthy nutrition you get from whole fruit far outweighs the sugars...why else would blueberries be one of the top ten foods for diabetics.
  • Coconut oil has the highest level of saturated fat of all the oils I have reviewed. The coconut oil industry are the only folks that say their saturated fat is good for you. Sorry but saturated fat is the same regardless of its source. Go sit down with someone that truly knows, a dietician or your doctor, and see what they…
  • I ask myself all the time: "why would I want to cheat because if I do, I'm only cheating myself". I'm in this for the long haul. I have no plans or goals of going back. Whether you call it a diet or a nutrition plan, it is a lifestyle by choice.
  • I try and drink 8 oz of water. Score each meal. In addition: Have you tried including a decent size salad with each dinner meal? This really made a difference for me. Then 30 minutes post meal I eat a serving of yogurt. Between the salad and the yogurt I am not only eating healthy but I am filling up also.
  • For me personally, weight loss isn't my goal, rather a side effect. My focus is high BP, High cholesterol, and elevated blood glucose (family history of diabetes). So recently I had bloodwork done and I'm BP is normal and about to come off one of the two BP meds. All my cholesterol numbers are within normal limits (but I…
  • I make a blueberry smoothie with almond milk. I also make a nutty chewy breakfast cookie. 1½ cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup raisins/Craisins/ or dried blueberries (I prefer the dried blueberries. I only have a Walmart and that is where I get them) 1/3 cup In kernel pumpkin seeds (I buy these by the…
  • I feel much better. I no longer have that constant fatigued feeling.
  • Definitely. Exercise is such an important factor to the whole picture. On the weekends I walk 2 1/2 miles each day. During the week I hit the elliptical at home and I do some HIIT workouts.
  • Does anyone really go thru and read where all these people are from????
  • Your coworker probably read it on Facebook and someone used Dr Oz's name stating it as fact when it's not.
  • I do fruit, yogurt, or sometimes an Adkins bar.

  • I failed to mention that I dropped two pant sizes along the way so I went out and bought some new jeans. Lol
  • I am not a supporter of "fad" diets. What I do. Believe in is eating healthy. For meat I eat lots of fish and chicken. Lots of fresh fruits and veggies. No fast food and no store bought heat and serve items even if they are promoted for weight loss. I want to know what goes into what I eat.
  • Nothing is bad as long as within moderation. Over-indulgence of anything is bad. I've battled high cholesterol for a while and I tried the wheat belly/no grain diet for a year....all to no avail. I went to a low fat, high fiber diet in October. Breads pasta etc I eat whole wheat/whole grain/multi grain only and just last…

  • I too have a hard time getting motivated to eat breakfast then I came across an easy breakfast cookie. I only have to make them once every ten days and they are a breeze to make. NUTTY CHEWY Breakfast Cookie 1½ cups quick-cooking steel cut oats 1 cup whole wheat flour 1/3 cup raisins/Craisins/ or dried blueberries 1/3 cup…
  • I agree with others, toss the can and go fresh. With that said, fresh or canned, a plain salmon patty can be boring. Try a nice vinegarette to top it. Serve the patty on a bed of fresh baby spinach. Vinegarette 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar 2 tbsp unprocesssd honey Zest of one lemon Juice of one lemon 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • I can see/understand your feelings. For me, day to day is easy since my wife watches what she eats also. The hard part to me is social environments especially around the holidays. Here I am standing around eating celery stalks while everyone else is stuffing their faces and look at me as if I'm the one with the problems.…
  • I make these and I love them. I warm them slightly before eating. Make for a great breakfast on the go and are quick and simple to make. 1½ cups quick-cooking oats
1 cup whole wheat flour
1/3 cup raisins/Craig Ins/ or dried blueberries 1/3 cup In kernel pumpkin seeds
1/3 cup unsalted, roasted sunflower seeds
1/3 cup…
  • Fish is a broad topic. There are so many types and ways to cook. Is there a particular fish you like best?
  • Hahahah. That is very possible. That is why I prefaced with being from the south. Here, it seems everything is battered and fried. If you go to a "seafood" restaurant, everything is battered and deep fried so you can see why my mind goes there. When I do salmon, I just coat the bottom of a cast iron skillet and either…
  • Being from the South, when you say fry my mind always go to deep frying such as chicken, chicken fried steak etc. I sauté meats and veggies all the time using olive oil. I enter the amount of oil I use and I don't find it effects in any measurable amount.
  • I have a ninja and it never ceases to amaze me at its ability. I use it for smoothies all the time using frozen fruit. I also have a Nutei-Bullet and for a single smoothie at a time, it works great

  • I learned that you want to make sure you are getting a whey protein isolate and when added to other products such as fruits or veggies it makes a meal that the prepackaged stuff can't compete with outside of convenience.
  • I never said what brand protein powder is use so I guess I'm not following your line of thinking I say this because what I use is a whey protein isolate and when you break the cost down to a per scoop basis, it is really inexpensive. It's works out to be around $.75 cents per scoop and since I only use one scoop per day,…

  • I can't pinpoint the best but the worse advice is when my doctor told me I needed to change my diet due to high BP and Cholesterol.....I sat there for a minute and finally asked: "change to what". He recommended google. That's when I suggested he give me the name of a respectable dietician.
