  • Years ago when the first person said that walking as a warm up was sufficient I was the happiest person ever, and I didn't bother to question its source. Ever since then I almost never do any stretches before a run, unless it's a race then I do a few jumping jacks or something since I don't want to waste my time walking…
  • Thank you for sharing that link! I read through it, I had no idea about all of that, but it explains why I have been hearing a lot of people mentioning not to do static stretches before a workout.
  • Thanks I don't know why I was so hesitant to use you tube, but after your post I decided to try one tonight and it was awesome (I just chose a relaxation video, because I had already done my stretching, but I'm excited to try a running oriented one next). I am much better at having motivation to do something if I have a…
  • @bbell1985 that sounds so horrible, please don't stop until you find answers. That definitely sounds exactly like cysts, I can't believe they haven't found anything. Have you spoken with a gynecologist about it yet? Did they do the ultrasound only on the outside? I've had two friends that had to go to the hospital for…
  • @lisanielsen49 maintenance calories are how many calories it's takes to maintain the body weight you are currently at. So if you are at maintenance for two days you wouldn't gain weight, but you also wouldn't lose any either, it would be basically like pushing the pause button, but you would still pay attention to the…
  • I'm not so great at weekends either, have you considered setting your calories at maintenance on weekends? Weekends are the only time I get with my husband, so we usually do fun things like movies and dinners out...I have found that I am much better about sticking to maintenance calories than a deficit on weekends, and…
  • 27 here, feel free to add me! I don't have a lot to lose, but working on recomp and training for a half marathon. Would love to have friends in the same age range!
  • You have got this! Just start somewhere and get back in the habit. What were your habits when you lost the first time? You probably made certain aspects just part of your daily life, pick one that has fallen to the wayside and focus on it for a couple weeks. Exercise is especially motivating and good for cravings. PS…
  • Have you ever tried other frozen meals? There are some super tasty ones that are shockingly healthy and affordable! They take all of 6 minutes to heat up. Some other quick easy foods are frozen precooked shrimp, pre cut raw chicken for stir fry (or steak), or pre cooked chicken sausage stir fry. I say stir fry, but I do a…
  • A breakfast (or regular) burrito, well wrapped is a very easy and filling breakfast for someone with limited time on the go. You can make them yourself and freeze them or buy premade ones whichever fits your schedule best. Microwave it and wrap in foil to keep it warm until you can eat it.
  • Thank you so much! I did try the free upgrade to see what it was like on strava, $7.99 is steep if others provide it for free! I'm not really at a level that the rest of the premium features matter to me, so I'm going to check it glymse... I don't have a watch yet but am considering getting one.
  • Okay thank you!
  • What does your cross training/stretching involve? Are you taking any supplements (turmeric/tart cherry juice/fish oils/glucosamine). How many miles a week are you running/how much rest?
  • It sounds like since they didn't warn you at the gym that some weren't for beginners you are good to go to try any of them and be fine. I agree with those that say try them all and see what you like the most.
  • Do what makes you feel the most comfortable. I personally like a man with some armpit hair, but it wouldn't weird me out or shock me to see a guy with shaved pits either. Trimming is a nice middle ground.
  • Dark Places by Gillian Flynn. I have read Gone Girl and Sharp Objects and enjoyed both, so I'm excited to read this book. Currently waiting for the the third book in the Maze Runner Series to be available through my online library, I have it on hold.
  • @wellnesschaser yeah it's awesome! I buy mine on iTunes on my phone and download it or just stream it.
  • Awesome thank you so much! That is awesome the yoga helps so much with your flexibility. I really don't want to be one of those people either, at any age
  • This is very true, especially if the OP is not someone who usually is careful about drinking enough water etc. I personally prefer to not bring water, but instead will run within two miles of my house and keep a bottle on the porch and do a drive by hydration, or plan a route past somewhere that sells/has water and carry a…
  • We almost have the same anniversary of no alcohol! The last time I ever drank alcohol was July 18th 2016 and it was the best decision of my life, it feels so good in so many different ways! Congratulations on the recent anniversary what a huge milestone
  • Im in Florida, and yes I run in the heat. I don't go as fast and make sure to replenish electrolytes when needed. There are some great hot weather running tips in the long distance runners group threads if you are interested!
  • Nooo!!!! Is there a way to help it?
  • Toss it!!
  • Congratulations on your 7 months! That is amazing, there is no doubt you will get rid of the pounds with that determination and hard work you so clearly posses!
  • @jurapak9960 Very cool! It really is a small world, I have seen only two other Montanans on here so far, feel free to add me if you want!
  • That is amazing!!!! Nice job, I am so happy for you  thank you for updating!!!
  • Wow awesome story!! Good luck on your training, I will definitely follow you in IG. Ps I'm from Bozeman!
  • 4 years since I quit smoking! Best decision ever, you can totally do it, especially since you've made it 7 days!! You got through the hardest part, it's not worth picking it back up after all your hard work so far :) someone else mentioned it, but every once in a while I still have a slight craving, but for the most part…
  • You will learn to like the unsalted nuts the longer you eat them. My favorite are raw unsalted almonds, they are SO good. I actually prefer them raw and unsalted now, I love the texture and the way I can nibble at them slowly and enjoy it. Nice work on your progress, and like others have mentioned, weight loss will slow as…
  • I've noticed that too, I just try to note how many calories it said before it gets deleted and then manually add them back in. I only count any walking that is intentional though, not day to day activities (like walking around the house/to the car etc.
