  • Very happy you asked this question, I haven't got to that point but was wondering the same thing!
  • Yes it does notify anyone who has posted on it (depending on their notification settings) and any one who stars the thread. I am following because I am also curious about your progress and people's input. Thank you for asking such a great question! Please definitely continue to post your results and/or add me.
  • Half marathon in October! I have always wanted to be a distance runner, and I'm excited I'm finally putting in the work.
  • From what I have read, running bursts are VERY GOOD and very relevant. Also if you aren't already, try to walk/run at an incline, this will increase your calorie burn. Mixing in sprints/incline/distance with your walking will all increase it.
  • Nice run!! Ugh the storms are so tough, I was going to mention them too. It's so hard to tell because sometimes they come earlier or later than they are expected to! What's the longest you run right now? You can also post your runs manually as a status instead of entering them for calories.
  • @m00000100000 yes it can be very addicting, I definitely see how that could happen. I am battling the "how much is too much" and "how not to get hurt" battle myself right now. So your injury was permanent? How long ago did you over do it?
  • I definitely recommend getting fitted! Like you said it sounds like your shoes are not the right size, at a legitimate running store they will be able to tell you which shoes will fit your foot best in every way. Walking long distances is no joke :) if you can invest in good shoes your feet will thank you.
  • I am training for a half and I live in SE Florida. I only run outside, and I save the cool hours of the day to walk my dogs so the running is done in the heat. What is working for me is I invested in moisture wicking running gear (leggings and light spf jacket)-these are life changing! Also I drink a electrolyte mixture…
  • Definitely not! And even at an incline you will not get bulky legs, I walked that much every day for years, at an incline for half of it and never ever had bulky legs (the opposite in fact, very slim).
  • I am training for a half right now too, in October as well. Personally I have set my calories to maintenance for the duration of the training. Since I will be running 5 days a week and continuing strength 3 times a week in addition to walking every day with my dogs I figure that is enough to facilitate recomposition. Sure…
  • Lol yeah I have no clue what the long haired one is, we call him Australian shepherd because of the long hair and his body shape and face but he is a total mutt. Ironically there is a breed that looks just like him (hovaworts) but it's just a coincidence haha. The furthest we have ran together is 1.5-2 miles, but we really…
  • @josiereside1 correction she IS ADORABLE!!!!! That face is so sweet. Glad you posted a picture because I wanted to post one too  These are my pups Wick and Artoo (Artoo is the B&W-3yrs old, Wick is the B&T-2.5yrs old) I cannot figure out how to make the phot show up whole, not a attachment.
  • @josiereside1 she sounds adorable!!!! Both of mine are rescues too  we rescued one in Southern California and one in GA, but they have spent enough time in the mountains the last year or so that they got spoiled with the weather. Back when we lived in GA they could go miles without me worrying at all! Im hoping that…
  • Yes I seriously need to stop taking rest days, I do the same thing, it's so frustrating!
  • Wow! Nice work  !! I'm so jealous, my dogs can only handle 1 mile right now, even in the early morning! And that's Mostly walking haha. They are used to dry cold weather, just like their mama. Sounds like you better schedule Saturday's as a rest day  what kind of dog do you have??
  • @josiereside1 I am in SE Florida treasure coast area. I'm doing the Treasure coast Halloween half in October :) you should add me!
  • I'm in FL too, it's definitely rough! It's either hot or it's lightening  and even when it's early it's hot! I got some awesome running gear at the Columbia outlet, they are the moisture wick technology leggings and a white hooded zip-up jacket long sleeves (it's like papery material) and they seriously work! I…
  • Is there a reason why you don't want to eat animal products? Personally I wasn't able to get enough protein when I was doing it, which is one of the reasons I stopped. Do you eat soy products? Your best bet is to increase you consumption of things that have protein, do a google search and form your meals around those…
  • Nice, I can't believe you remembered to time it! How often are you using the treadmill instead of going outside? Are you training for anything?
  • I agree here, if your working out you'll want to make sure you are getting enough protein and judging from this I really doubt you are (I have done plant based before so I have a general idea how much is in those things and it's not nearly meeting your quotas).
  • @DX2JX2 definitely agree there! I went on a 5 mile run in the heat of the day last week came home and ate lunch and accidentally fell asleep for 5 hours haha, apparently I needed an hour for every mile.
  • Oh my god I love Pride and Prejudice, I could read the book (and watch the movie) over and over again forever. ********* Harry Potter is my absolute end all be all favorite, I always read these as my fallbacks, and as my comfort books. I can't even put into words how much I love these books and this story, I think JK…
  • I was obsessed wth Discworld when I was a teen, I think I read every one of them my library had, and I say "think" because like someone else said once you've read the beginning book (or books) the rest you can basically read anytime. I tried to read them in order but there were always titles missing so I skipped around…
  • I totally know your pain with the olive oil! I love olive oil and use it in/on everything, I have definitely learned to cut it back or even go without often. There are many things we cook with oils that actually can be cooked "dry" it's just a trial and error what needs it and what doesn't. I'm sorry to hear about your GD,…
  • Oh yeah definitely, it is way more fun switching it up! The cool thing is they are all pretty fun and different, I end up doing them all fairly equally haha
  • Meal prep, and store single servings in the freezer. I prefer to only prep the meat potion if the meal and either quickly stir fry some veggies or eat them raw, as veggies don't last/taste as good after a week in the fridge or frozen.
  • If you bring a cast iron pan to cook with or you use aluminum foil your options are limitless! My favorite is the prepping cut onions, bell peppers and your choice of fully cooked meat and some seasoning in a mixture together wrapping them loosely and putting in the ice chest until your ready, then just place them over the…
  • I think you will love the results of those small adjustments. Since you are already at a healthy weight and your body needs fuel to build muscle it will be beneficial to start now. You'll definitely find that it's all easier and less tiring with the extra calories. I had the same thing happen too, I was tired and hungry so…
  • Wow that's awesome! Those are long walks too. I love walking, it's so relaxing to go to a park and just zone out and enjoy the natural surroundings. Do you have any hiking trails nearby?
