From what I can see, the Health app basically pulls the calories consumed from MyFitnessPal (at least in my case: I've given all the authorizations to sync everything, water seems to be the only thing that isn't synced). So looking at MFP works as well. I actually used an app called HealthFace that did the math for me, but…

Hi @kilkenny49 . You created a new thread so we don't know what conversation/thread you mean. But there are quite a few active groups around. They tend to jump to the top of the page here: https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussions

The way I do it is Total calories consumed - (Resting Energy + Active Energy from iWatch). Keep in mind that your Resting energy continues to accumulate a little while you sleep. So when I do it, I tend to watch either the trend (you can see it in Health for the past 7 days).

Can I just … switch half of my potatoes/pasta/rice portions with low calorie veggies (greens and similar are an easy go). (Personally I cook them together that way it doubles the volume.)

Trying to be amongst the best in my field, getting complimented by clients, but still knowing that they still often prefer the cheaper providers. At the cost of flow and quality. I get smaller budgets but still… It's annoying.

The option is also available on ios. You click edit in the upper left corner. Then you have those three lines (kind of like the paragraph icon in Word) and can use that to click and slide, reorder, etc. And you click done when you're done. If it's just one item, you click it and it opens an "Edit Entry" window where you…

100% relate. I find that now I don't crave fast food when I go out because my versions are better (and I feel better afterwards!) 😆 I'm a foodie of sort at heart, so I really don't do well with not allowing myself some foods. So with all the tastes and flavors I enjoy, I try to make a "better-all-around-version" at home. I…

That should be an option that's already available if I'm not mistaken. You select edit on top (left upper corner). Then you can either save the meal to add it easily later, or copy it. If you copy, you have the following option: I do have the premium plan, but I feel this option should be available regardless.

In the recipes part of the app I log uncooked. Partly because I cook several portions and then put away each individual portion. In the main diary part of the app I log in what's already cooked because generally that's what I take out of my fridge or similar. If it feels like you got it wrong, that's ok! Now you know that…

Getting ready for a walk. It's cold and I'm trying to save on my heating bill 😆

The difficulty is that the weight loss wants what it wants. I don't know where you are at in terms of your weight, but overall the idea would be to lose weight, period. Keeping that in mind, I'm now below 22 BMI, have a little of a belly and definitely have jiggly thighs still. On the other hand, the bones on my upper body…

I think in my case the big turnaround and the game changer was realizing how 'boring' ultimately weight loss is. How it's just about knowing how to feed yourself (in my case, ultimately, calorie counting) and moving for 30 + intentionally every single day. And doing it even when the scale wouldn't budge because ultimately,…

I feel like sometimes it's not the right time, if that makes sense. I know in my case that the first time I posted on this forum, years ago, I thought I was ready but then… life got in the way. And I was still looking for a silver bullet that required little to no efforts. There are so many instances where I started a…

I understand what you're saying @cmriverside but that's why I posted this in the "Feature Suggestions and Ideas" part of the forum. These are just suggestions that would simplify and improve the quality-of-use of the app. At least for me. I'm guessing not just for me? Typing ingredients in a recipe, I feel like it's nearly…

I personally chose MFP because it had/has the most complete database I've seen. I'm not in the US, nor in the Western world. I have a whole assortment of exotic ingredients. They're in the database! That makes my life simpler.
-
What I mean is that I click "create a recipe", then in the bottom half there's the 'ingredients' box where you can type your ingredient list and they'll be matched with food. It's the most convenient way while I'm building the recipe. If I type each of these, each on their own line: 3 eggs 2 cups oatmeal raw 1kg raw…

I don't know which of these have helped me in particular, but I use to have bad insomnia and now it's less hard to fall asleep. It's still isn't quick, but I do fall asleep within 1 hour 95% of the time. If I skip any of these, I find I have a harder time falling asleep. At my worst, I can go a whole week and not manage to…

Hi! Keeping in mind that what worked for me may not work for you I will share my original motivations (and ways I kept up the momentum) in case you can find something in there that inspires you. For context, I'm a 47 y.o. woman, and I spend the very large majority of my time alone. I tend to think that I basically live…

@Jthanmyfitnesspal Thank you! That's good to know! I was afraid that the cold hands were a sign of… something worse I guess? I'm still trying to work on that (my weight loss goal prior, and now my maintenance goal while strength training goal have always been to 'feel awesome!' however vague that goal may be! LOL). For the…

I am so sorry you're going through this. Thank you for both the thread, the responses you've gotten as well as your feedback: they are super useful for someone like me. I'm sorry if this may seem like a silly question to ask, but can you tell me more (if you can) about the "cold hands" → metabolic adaptation thing if…

We've got this @p8m6bwghh9 ! We're entering a new chapter. I had to realize that it takes a little while to register and transition, and that's okay. And thank you for making me feel less silly for exposing how 'Feel the fear but do it anyway' is something I apparently like to do very literally and show! 😅

Thanks you @cmriverside and @AnnPT77 for the inspirations! Yes. I need to remind myself that I can have afford a little more fun with my coleslaw, but also with my dishes in general! Add a little pizzaz (sp) 🧡 I feel like someone who's been given a extra money for her monthly budget and I've just keep trying to spend like…

Oh, absolutely. I think I just need to accept that I'm not trying to limit or not trying to only fill with 'light calories' (I have a huge tupperware in my fridge with shredded red and white cabbage and shredded carrots, tossed in a little salt and pepper, sweetener, and cider vinegar and that's my "coleslaw" for when I…

Hi Lippylou! You will get there! If it helps, I have a cookie thing. Like, I can down an entire box. I enjoy chocolates as well! Like, in excess. The way I do it now is that I incorporate chocolate or cookies in my breakfast. I make overnight oats (just oatmeal and Greek yogurt, portioned, and in my case a little…

Love this thread. In my own case, I try to see the things I genuinely love (or have) to do, and try to see how to make them more active. My energy (and attention) sucking (and I 'forget the rest of the world') fun activities that I absolutely love are video games, binge watching movies & series, and reading, amongst…

Well I wont delete it now because I know I personally learned a few things from what you posted. 😅 I apparently (according to the data collected in Libra) have managed to develop a 700 calories deficit (it wasn't intentional, I just moved more whenever my weight loss stalled). The app extracted my weight ins for the past…

Hi Ann! I think it's just the transition to "maintaining" isn't happening as smoothly as I thought it would? I'm not frantic per say, I'm irritated I'd say. I've been working to reduce my weight loss rate (the goal to it being nearly non existent, to gain muscles). I've increased my calories accordingly, with the intent to…

So I wanted to add an update for anyone that is in a similar position to mine. For context: I've been big since puberty (I became big at puberty, for various emotional and mental reasons in addition to the obvious moving less and eating more). So I've been big (with ups and downs but never downs like now) most of my life.…

I am. I still don't get why I couldn't get the steps to update on MFP. This was, mind you, more than a year ago. 😅 But with the extra 'intermediary' app it stopped being an issue (I think I also added the app because it gives me a complication that updates nearly in real time?) And absolutely agree about how helpful it is!…

I think I answered my own question as to how to deal with this right now, sorry. 😫 Obviously if I want muscle gains, if I'm still uncomfortable increasing my calories a lot to match my workouts, I need to slow down my workouts until I am comfortable increasing my calories to match that. It's obvious but also is proof that…
