I used to believe it was mostly about diet, my thought was say you did exercise that day and burned off a decent amount (500 calories)...well almost anything is more than that. 3 cupcakes is more than that. You cannot exercise enough to work off a a bad diet. So was my logic. However, I don't believe it any more. Now I…

A while back I went to a weight specialist (doctor). I hadn't yet figured out what I needed (constant exercise). And to make things worse, I cannot exercise to lose weight because it doesn't motivate me. I need constant exercise, but only do it for other reasons (like competition). Anyway, back to the weight specialist, he…

btw folks, I work in an office too. And I agree about it being a back killer. I got sciatica last year. I now carefully sit up straight. I don't need sciatica again, it was miserable! (for me, lasted 2 months)

Thanks for sharing your story Paul. You know what, for me it is all about exercise...although so much of my life I had no idea. Looking back on it, it should've beeen obvious. In high school I reached 200lbs, but dropped back to 160lbs when a friend introduced me to jogging. After college I went back to 200lbs again, but…

When I was a child I went to 200lbs, and then down to 160, and then after college to 200lbs and then to 155, and then later to 240lbs and down to 200 (glad to be 200 at that point)....then back to 250lbs and then down to 200, and then to 220lbs and down to 170lb. And here I am, 179lbs hoping to bring it down some for…

Folks I have found a few friends but hoping for about ten so that I am accountable each day. I will do the same for you! I will regularly check on your stats and be a source of encouragement even if for 4 to 8 weeks only. I am on a cycling team and today looking to put together a similar concept only an elite group of…

I always did free, but I believe because of that any exercise I do is counted as calories I can eat. Pro users can turn off or modify what exercise does. I do not eat my calories exercised (at times) so as a free user I don't track exercise here. I have another app for that.

Cyclist. 48. Cycling 18 months now. I am sending out friend requests, but even better if you add me. I may be here 1 or 2 months. Will drop off as racing season gets underway, but until then I am pretty good about checking in with my friends.... add if wanted, anyone on any journey, thanks

Thanks Amy. I was going at around 178 over the winter and suddenly ballooned up to 184. Was hoping it was water weight, and maybe it is.... Hard to say, seems to be some kind of reaction to the increased training. Anyway all this is to say, had I stayed under 180 I wouldn't have even thought of counting calories again.…

Just saw the msg on how to, thanks

I don't even remember how you add friends, wow. But if anyone wants to add me, I will probably be fairly regular for a month or so... Thanks

P.s. Strava is an app for cyclists and runners that keeps track of calories burned as one of its stats. So just for the purposes of exploring exercise as a calorie burn off...if I ride for 60 miles over 3 hours, I would burn 2500 calories. I have done it, just because I am an avid cyclist. That is not a typical day for me,…

I cannot imagine eating 4000 in a sitting, so that's outside my experience. But let's say you somehow did manage to over indulge by enough calories to gain a whole pound. So what. So you lose one less lb. this month. I'd basically not care at all and change nothing. However, with that said, the second time it happens I…

Congratulations! I crossed into normal BMI a couple months ago and for competitive cycling reasons that is not enough for me, but nevertheless, I stopped worrying about it, and that was a nice lifestyle change. I am now down another 12 lbs and my wife asked me to start eating more. Lol....how funny is that. No chance of…

P.s. I agree with what folks say about carbs and water retention. However, as a person that primarily eats carbs and takes creatine (which is also about water retention)... I first gained a few pounds, but then lost it all and another 10.... it's so ephemeral in my experience, whatever water retention there may be has long…

I primarily eat carbs...doesn't seem to make much difference, but I would stick with what you like, why force yourself to eat anything, I don't. :-)
