  • I have done this a few times but have still managed to stay on track and have lost 22 lbs to date. Try to remember that one meal is not a reason to throw in the towel. You have to enjoy your life. The journey of becoming healthier and fitter is a marathon not a sprint. Just get back on that horse for your next meal and…
  • So long as your thyroid levels are controlled it shouldn't impact your weight loss. The less you have to lose the slower the progress becomes (unfortunately). If you are confident that your food tracking is spot on than you could try increasing the intensity of your exercise or try adding some strength training.
  • I use the app "water drink reminder". You set your waking hours and it gives a little reminder every hour. I keep a bottle on my desk at work and another at home. I am not a fan of plain water but do drink it plain with meals. I add some flavoring other times. Diet drinks are fine. I count coffee, tea...all liquids towards…

  • If you are hungry, the exercise calories earn you the ability to eat more food. If you are not feeling hungry you don't have to eat them back for the sake of it. For me, my exercise is pretty low so I don't worry about eating back any of my 100-200 or so calories. It is also safe to assume that the estimated calorie burn…
  • I know exactly what you mean. I used to be very thin but not healthy at all. I had no stamina or cardiovascular health. People just saw thin and thought that meant fit. There is a huge difference. I am losing weight now to lower the fat but my goal is to be healthy and fit. For me that means trying to move more, to tighten…
  • Gawd, please don't say that! I have just a couple weeks to go. I'm down my first 21 lbs but working to lose another 20ish. The key for me now is to start moving more...if I can avoid hurting myself. I am so clumsy. Lots of success on here though so I'm pretty pumped it'll happen. Are you able to exercise at all or are you…
  • Some people take years and/or therapy to realize they use food as a comfort so you are already ahead of the game. Try being mindful when you eat. Think about what you are eating and why. Are you really hungry? or are you sad, mad or lonely? Acknowledging those feelings and dealing with them can make a big difference. Call…
  • When I've used that app it gives me distance, time, elevation etc... and gives me an estimate burned on my stats that I entered. It probably isn't super accurate but it is better than me randomly picking an exercise from the MFP database.

  • Sounds like you are having a rough go. It is hard to motivate other people. You really need to find something that speaks to you. I did well for my first 20 lbs but now I'm struggling a bit. Weekends are starting to give me troubIe. I like to look at the success boards to boost my motivation. I also set some goals for…
  • Cook some rice in vegetable stock and add some diced veggies easy on the tummy like well cooked carrot or peas. This is a mild meal easy on the belly. I used to eat it a lot when my reflux and IBS acted up.
  • I turn 40 in about 20 days....gulp. I started in January just wanting to not look like I did. So far I have lost 20 lbs out of the 40 I set as my overall goal so I am pushing for these last couple weeks to see where I end up. Then, in mid-May I am going to visit some family I haven't seen in a few years. I want to be at my…
  • I carry a lot of weight, most of it actually, in my belly/abs. I have lost 20 lbs but it is still there. I started taking measurements mid January and to date have lost 3" from my waist, 3.5" from my abs and 2.5" from my hips. It his hard to tell in the mirror since I still see it there sticking out. I can fit a smaller…
  • It is work but it can so definitely be done. I visit the success boards here and look at the great before and after pics. These are just regular people like us who have struggled along but made it happen. I am on depo, been on antidepressants (a few times) and now take SSRIs in the winter for S.A.D. I started in January…

  • When I get to my goal I am treating myself to eye lash extensions. My small treats are new earrings, lipstick, nail polish, perfume, body wash etc... Concert or theatre tickets could work too.
  • I changed the battery in my digital scale to make sure it was reading right. I can still get slightly different weights if I do it 3-4 times in a row but I have been using the same scale since the beginning so I'm sticking with that. I take measurements and pics too so I have other ways to gauge my progress.
  • I am chef salad obsessed right now for lunch at work. I fill a dinner plate with lettuce/greens, top with cucumber, tomato, chopped deli turkey/ham, chopped apple, chopped cheese, cooked egg whites and drizzle with berry balsamic salad dressing. It is crunchy, sweet, salty, meaty, tastes so good and I find it very…
  • I love a chef's salad. I chop up deli ham or turkey, an apple, cheese, cooked egg whites and some veggies, serve the lot over greens with a berry balsamic dressing. It is insanely tasty and comes in under 350 cals, depending on your choices/quantities of course. This gives me a dinner plate size salad I can barely finish…
  • I have. Am down 20 lbs so far since the start of the year. Trying to add in exercise but really I am pretty busy and a tad lazy. I work at a desk so 1200 calories are enough to satisfy me. Sometimes I go over (eat out greasy fish and chips) but I have generally lost at least a minimum of 0.5 lbs per week. By aiming low I…
  • You won't find anyone on here advocating for a 3 lbs/week loss. Even the app itself has the most aggressive weight loss setting as 2 lbs/week. Generally, most folks on here only support that for people with 75+ lbs to lose. I did set my goal at that and it gave me the minimum calorie goal for a women, 1200 per day. By…

  • I have a little extra weight all over but the main bulk is belly. Clothes hide a multitude of sins...lol. I am down 20 with another 20 to go. When people hear that I get the "really?" with the quirked eye brow...but I am the one facing the naked truth in the mirror...and the paunch. My mother in law and I are close in…
  • My grandmother pulls me aside to express worry about my mother's weight and yet when we eat with her she is always pushing my mom to have seconds or 'just finish this bit' or is putting extra food on your plate. You are absolutely right that the only person you are responsible for is you.
  • It would be a good idea to take some measurements or photos. You can measure weight loss in other ways besides the scale. If you went from not working out to being very active you may find though the scale didn't move, inches may have. I like to keep an article of clothing handy to "try" fitting into. It is encouraging. I…
  • I did an extensive 6 week elimination diet. My IBS and reflux were out of control and none of my usual treatments were working. Feeling constantly ill was a real challenge...when I feel ill I love McDonald's...not a smart choice! I worked with a naturopath, dietician and my doctor. In the end I had to cut out wheat for a…
  • Exercise helps move things along but you don't have to do any to lose weight :) Just eat at a calorie deficit. I have lost nearly 20 lbs since the start of January with very little exercise. Halfway to my goal of losing 40 lbs.

  • I don't know anything about your specific injury. I had dry needling sessions to release the muscles in my neck causing TMJ issues. They use acupuncture needles but instead of leaving them stationary they move them around to find the knots in the muscles. The muscles grab the needle and than relax. For me it hurt like heck…
  • I am in an office all day too. I have lost nearly 20 lbs so far just by watching my calories. I am trying to work in some more exercise but I am still losing without it.

  • Welcome to the rodeo:) I log everyday so feel free to add me if you want. I started the beginning of January and am almost halfway to my goal of losing 40 lbs.
  • If you extend one leg behind you, like you are going to do a curtsey and squat with your weigh on the other leg you will really feel that in your inner thigh. Google "curtsey lunge" for photos/videos.
