My husband works in commercial architecture, and one of their recent projects was a restaurant renovation for locally owned chain of "country cooking" buffets. The plans were drawn showing wall mounted toilets in the restrooms. The owner asked what they were rated for, weight wise, and the answer was 350 lbs. He shook his…

LOL! I live in south Georgia, and can definitely relate. I usually carry a small handheld bottle for short runs and a Camelbak for longer runs. And you're absolutely right about the water in St. Augustine - we've done several 5Ks there and learned the hard way to bring our own.

Could you put some moleskin on the top of the orthotic? it's sticky on the bottom and the top side feels like felt. my husband uses it to prevent blisters when he runs. It might have just enough "grip" to keep your foot from sliding and not add any bulk to the orthotic. It's also removable and should leave a residue behind.

Maybe you should ask your mental health professional if they can refer you to someone who would be more understanding.

It's hard to be much slower than an 11 to 12-minute mile.[/quote] Really? When I first started walking I was a 20 minute mile. On a good day. That was in 2014. I'm fiercely proud of my 12:11 mile and have completed 2 half marathons at that pace. Slow progress is still progress.

Get a second opinion. Get a third opinion. It took four physicians to figure out that I had MG. It took SIX OB-GYNs to find one who agreed that I needed a hysterectomy and didn't tell me to suck it up and wait for menopause. Point being - YOU are your best advocate for your health and well-being. If your current physician…

If you feel that bad after working out, you really should see a doctor. You could be anemic, have a thyroid issue, or any number of things. Last year I started falling asleep at 8:00pm, after working and going to the gym. I felt like crap. Had some tests done and it turns out I have myasthenia gravis, an autoimmune disease…

As @clicketykeys said, you basically have to suck it up and do it. Which do you hate more? Working out or lacking the strength you say you want?

Find some videos on YouTube or pick up some DVDs and workout at home. You can pick up kettlebells or dumbells from pretty much anywhere (Target, Walmart,Academy Sports, etc) and not break the bank. As far as the not liking the "sweaty" feeling, I really don't know what to tell you. That may be something you just have to…

I did the Tampa Hot Chocolate 15K in December. Skip the chocolate and marshmallows. We saw a few people who, shall we say, regretted that decision later in the race. Mind you it was ungodly warm even for December. The aid stations were very well organized with plenty of volunteers, and you could definitely "grab and go."…

I'm 5'6 and I'm aiming for 150 lbs. That will put me at a normal BMI. I started at 198 and hit 167.4 this morning. At 50 years old, I don't want to lose too much and get more wrinkly and saggy!

I bought one about a year ago and we love it! Makes the best chicken wings ever. No added oil, sprinkle with some Penzey's 4/S seasoned salt, 20-25 mins in the air fryer. I've also used it to cook fresh shrimp and fish and they come out perfect.

Hi everyone! I turned 50 a few months ago, although I certainly don't feel it. I've been married for almost 29 years to my high school sweetheart and we have a daughter who will be 24 in a few weeks. We have two dogs and a cat (all rescues). My New Year's resolution for 2014 was to walk three times a week. Long story…

Wasn't this an episode of Absolutely Fabulous?

March 2017 to March 2018 - 41 lbs difference.

I found several pairs of pants at a consignment store. Happened to go in on a day they were having a sale and came out with five pairs and several tops for under $40. Also found a great fitting pair at Walmart (much to my surprise). They are the Faded Glory brand and the style is the Parker Pant. They are dressy enough to…

It's not so bad once you get in the habit, although some days I do question my sanity when the alarm goes off at 4:55 am.

It definitely takes some adjustment. I've been doing 5:30am sessions for about three months now and it's finally hitting the "auto-pilot" feeling. Getting your gear together the night before makes things so much easier - last minute scrambles stress me out and make me late.
-
I also weigh daily and track on Happy Scale. I definitely think that seeing the overall trend is a better indicator of progress.

Wow! Great job

I had to buy new bras. I'm a breast cancer survivor, so I've always purchased my bras through a local medical supply company. And they're ugly. They're what we used to call "lunch lady bras" - 4 rows of hooks and enough fabric to make a tent (even though I'm not really that big!) I went to Target and found some very pretty…

I am TOTALLY going to do this next time I get a craving.

I found some fresh mozzeralla "pearls" last night at Publix. They're about the size of a mini marshmallow and perfect with a piece of pepperoni. I'll fight you for good cheese - must be the English in me coming out!

I was 187.3 on Sunday, so it's coming off. I feel amazing though, so there's that!

I run three time per week (one is a trail run 6-9 miles). I also take zumba/hip hop class 2x per week and spin 2x per week. I never thought I would enjoy being so active!

Ack! How rude!! My brother and his family were in town last weekend, and we all went out to a local pub type place for lunch. I ordered the burger with no bun and the waitress didn't bat an eye. My brother and his wife, on the other hand, looked at me like I was insane.

I loved my Zip! My stupidity was its downfall. I forgot to unclip it from my sports bra and it went through the washer. It worked for a day or two after it dried out, but then started acting weird and resetting itself. I replaced it with a Flex that I really like but now I'm lusting over the newer models that have a HR…
