bob's red mill instant oats. Boil water, add, wait a minute. I add honey and fruit.

I have tried various things that seem to work for me: I have found a few replacements that I love - sweets -fig newtons, or dark chocolate or toast with jelly (in fact, check my diary - thats almost daily and Im down 60+ pounds from my max a few years ago. Salty - I go with popcorn usually but its rare.

I sometimes take two things that seem to be opposites and search to see if there is anyone crazy enough to mix the two. With chicken, I literally cannot find anything that someone doesnt mix within a recipe. really! chicken -peanut butter, chicken -artichoke, chicken - asian pear. Anything goes! I cant believe it.

absolutely. Im down 60 from my max, carbs and all. My favorite snack is toast and jelly. I cant remove that from my diet.

Here is the way I think: variety, real food rather than processed, try to limit extra calories like sodas. With all that, I make sure to log my foods so that I know how I am doing. Im currently down about 60 lbs from my highest weight.

As a few have mentioned - the run/walk method is what got me past the "I am going to die stage" when I first started. I started out running for 30 seconds, walking for 2-3 minutes. I run outdoors as well, I refuse to run on sidewalks for the very reason you mentioned. Uneven pavement, also the threat of cars backing out of their driveway.
