Running in snow is fine, but ice is a different story. Trails may be better than road in this case and definitely trail shoes versus regular running shoes. Layers are key - moisture wicking closest to skin works best for me. Gloves and a balaclava go a long way as well.

I love my PF as well. So they serve pizza ONE day a month. If you don't want it, don't eat it. That doesn't make it a bad place. I've been to a couple of them and they are always clean, bright and well equipped. The locker rooms are nice with plenty of room. The one I use now has a 30-minute circuit and a 12-minute ab…

I'm sure you didn't ruin the day. Enjoy yourself while making the best choices you can. If they aren't great, then put it behind you and do better tomorrow. Happy Thanksgiving.

A local theater is showing it on the big screen. Excited, but kind of hoping it's not quite as dramatic as the Season 7 opener. That was tough for me to watch... of course I did though.

First boots of the season. I love Fall!! <3 :)

Though I love my Planet Fitness (I use cardio and circuits - no free weights), I don't think I'd call them motivating. I've been to several different locations and they are completely different vibe wise. I agree with the consensus - tour your available gyms. Use any guest passes they offer to try them out on the…

I have very fine, thin, oily-prone hair as well. I workout in some form almost every day and am also a very heavy sweater. I wash my hair every day and have for years. That said, when I was in weight-loss mode (lasted about 18 months, I lost a bunch of hair. Enough that the woman cutting my hair pointed it out numerous…

I agree with the rest that numbness is likely due to too tight laces. I struggled with the same issue for quite a while before I figured it out. As for the time - some days are faster than others. Temperature, humidity, dinner or activity the night before, heavy breakfast, sniffles - all can affect your run times. As for…

On our FIRST date we went out walking. When a car would approach, he would move around me to get to the inside -- putting me closest to traffic! He did this more than once. I knew then we'd never work.

My 16-year-old Golden Chow puppy ... Nutmeg. She's pretty high energy huh? <3

Congratulations on what you've done so far! That is awesome. I'm 5'3". Though I've only lost 50 pounds, I also started seeing sagging skin - arms, very upper thighs and middle back. So, I decided to stop losing once I hit 135. My maintenance is 135-140. For ME personally, I would rather hold onto the extra 15-20 pounds and…

I have three "meals" and three or four snacks. I have coffee immediately and eat breakfast at work. My breakfast is usually more (decaf) coffee and Greek yogurt with granola around 0930. Fruits or veggies is my typical mid-morning and mid-afternoon work snacks with the rare salty snack (usually 100-calorie bag of popcorn)…

I totally agree with this. Many people want to blame running when it's actually poor form, bad shoes or as rybo said - a pre-existing condition that causes the injury/issue. Flat feet, weak ankles, arthritis, a previous non-running injury, etc. are more likely culprits. If you want to run, you'll find a way to run. If you…

LOL, other than the fiber one bars, I pretty much bring/keep all of those snacks for work.

IMHO A five-pound weight loss over three months shouldn't be drastic enough to cause that much cold sensitivity especially if you made no other adjustments over the last couple weeks (since it started). I'd probably look for an actual reason.

Love my carbs! I'm down 60 pounds and have maintained for a couple years now.
-
I have been in maintenance for a couple years, but I average 2,000-2,200 per day.

Just because you don't see them struggle, doesn't mean they don't struggle. Maybe their weakness is potato chips or pizza or milkshakes or something else. Maybe they eat a giant piece of cake every Sunday after their run so they don't "have to" have it at those get togethers. Many "bank" calories for special events. Or…

Mine is easily covered by a t-shirt when I run. I do not wear shorts over them. They are compression and hold very close to the body. I have not worn them under jeans or pants as I have a Fobus Universal and an old shoulder holder when I feel the need.
-
I carry a Ruger SR22 and wear Undertech Undercover compression shorts when I'm runing a new route.

I'll start with strawberry shortcake topped with extra whipped cream and berries with a glass of Stella Mia Moscato d'Asti. Then, my mama's lasagna layered with pepperoni, sausage and as many cheeses as I can find and a very large side of garlic parmesan breadsticks with a glass of Ruffino Chianti Riserva Ducale Gold. And…

They are convenient and usually on sale somewhere. I eat a frozen meal for lunch 3-4 days a week. Healthy Choice Steamers is my go-to, but Smart Ones and Lean Cuisine are both decent for the price. Like others, I supplement with extra veggies most days. I also bring a couple pieces of fruit for mid-morning and…

I agree going for distance is better than speed. You'll get faster naturally as you run more. Though I haven't used it, I've heard nothing but good things about C25K. Good luck whichever way you decide.

Not a morning person. If I have plans after work, I force myself to run at 0430. I am a bit sluggish to start and my times are slower, but I do it. I don't sleep in my running clothes, but they are on the dresser nearby. I dress immediately then have a cup of coffee to get things moving - physically and mentally. I…
