  • I just came across this thread and am so thankful I did. I started peri about 4 years ago when I was 38. Kind of on the young side but I started my periods very young so I kind of expected it. I went two years where I was not doing much in the way of having a period. I was having hot flashes, night sweats, mood swings…
  • I have a husband and 3 teenagers so eating out (burgers, pizza, fried chicken) is always something they want. I also have a job that requires me to frequently be on the road at meal times and there are the inevitable lunch meetings. I am still learning when it comes to these situations, but since it does add up to multiple…

I didn't make my goal of 2100 every day, but I did pretty well most days. I'm going to keep it at 2100 steps a day this week and see if I can make…
  • My favorite option is to do a "copycat" or make at home version so I can control what goes in and be sure of my portion sizes. I also don't have someone trying to up-size, or add extras that I don't need. Makes it easier to fit into both my calorie budget and my wallet's budget. I do agree though sometimes you have to give…
  • I ate way too much on vacation this weekend, but I tracked it. I the exta sodium will add water weight. But I'm going to keep working. Congrats @motivatedsister thats awesome!

I made my goal every day except for one and since I was in the car for 6 hours straight that day I have to let it go. I am setting my goal to 2100/day this…
  • Good morning everyone! Happy April. Just checking in for the week here, I'll post my final March numbers on the other board. Have a great Monday.
  • Just to give you some perspective, I am 5'4", 214 lbs, and have about 80ish lbs to get to my goal. MFP sets my calories at 1200 if I tell it I want to loose 2 lbs a week, but that is actually only about 1.7 lbs a week worth of a deficit because 1200 is the lowest MFP will use. So I choose to set it at 1.5 which gives me…
  • I log it, write about it on my wall or in a forum like this to help me understand what I was feeling or doing that led to the over eating (and also to get the support not to give up!) and then move on. I know that there will be days where I consciously go over my calorie allotment and I know that there will be days where…
  • Hi all! 5' 4.5" 42 years old here and at 214 as of my last weight in, that's 81 lbs down from my heaviest at 295! I am still working on loosing, but am really fighting the cravings and urge to just snack. I've seen the advice to others to check their protein amounts, so I'm going to do that as well since I know i'm a carb…
  • Just as a quick side note... my husband laughed at me today (in a good way) because I realized half way through my walk at lunch that I forgot to run and get my daughter $ for a school expense. So I walked to the High School he teaches at, borrowed his car keys, drove to get the $, dropped it and the car keys back with him…
  • Reading these has been very helpful to me. I have been diagnosed with "pretty severe" arthritis in my knees. I am 42 so the doctor was very surprised but I have been obeese for most of my life, and have worked many jobs on my feet which probably contributed. I have lost about 75lbs so far and I am definitely noticing less…

I didn't quite make my goal every day. I'm going to keep the same goal of 1800 steps a day to see if I can make it every day this week.
  • So glad I found this thread! I am really struggling with my weight loss and am not sure if it's related to TOM or not. I am going to use one of the tracker apps that was mentioned earlier in the thread. The frustrating thing for me is I started peri-menopause about 3-4 years ago when I was 38. Young I know but I started my…

  • Good morning! I am doing better this week so far. I have also set a goal finally I'm going to walk to Pitlochry, Scotland to see some friends. :) so that's 4,608 miles to trek.
  • I have been using pacer, didn't think about looking to see if it told me when I hit a mile. I did have to reload it this week though because it crashed. :( So for this week my steps are: 3/6- 1045 3/7- 987 3/8- 1532 3/9 - 1095 3/10 - 1056 3/11- 1100 3/12 - 967 MY goal this week is to hit 1100 or more every day. :)
  • Hey everyone, I'd love to join this group. I just recently changed jobs from 2 more active ones to a very sedentary one. The pay raise was great, the lack of activity not so much. I'm finding myself challenged to get even 1,000 steps a day. I like the idea I've seen of adding your steps up to get to a place. I may have to…
  • Hi! I'm 42 and looking to loose about 100 lbs total. I have used weight watchers online in the past and know that for me to lose weight the key is keeping track of everything I eat, so I made the switch to MFP! I am looking to connect with others that are in my age range, since lack of accountability is a big reason I put…
  • Thank you Tavistock, I think that you are right and setting to Sedentary will be the better bet. I appreciate the input. It's nice to be able to get some guidance. :)
  • Thanks, I do have a food scale, but have not been weighing everything. I have been logging everything and have been choosing the highest possible calorie value for things I am not sure about. I have been trying to leave most if not all the "extra" calories allowed for my steps unless I'm really hungry. I'm trying in this…
  • Hello, I'm new to MFP. I work as a paraprofessional at a school which some days means sitting behind a desk and some days I"m running from one end of the school to the other or having a dance party with students. Also I work as a cashier at a retail store about 15 hours a week which involves being up and moving and bending…
