  • @JustSomeEm: But from what I've looked into, Chalene Johnson doesn't appear to be certified, and I'm not going to budge on that part. Since it appears I'm only causing trouble, I think we're going to have to call this discussion over and forget about ever getting another medal because it's apparent there is nothing out…
  • Sorry MeanderingMammal, but I'm not bending on trainer certifications. In my book they matter, and if I can't crosscheck you I will presume you aren't certified and that will be the name of that tune. You can see why I had to give up running last year.
  • I can't really help with the yoga part (it's complicated, but basically I'm a hard one when it comes to crosschecking instructor credentials), but as someone who's run a 5K himself I can certainly give you some support there. Add me if you'd like. :)
  • While I can't quite say so, I have had that problem with protein shakes, which is why I stopped drinking them. It is possible that this particular bar just may not sit well with you. To that I say you may want to consider small boxes (ones with 5 or 6 to a box) of a couple of different brands. As I am no expert on bars I…
  • Jogging here. Of course it's by default; I can't swim (darn it!).
  • Hi Rana, It feels like thousands, doesn't it? There's a right way and a wrong way to lose weight. Lots of people here who can help you with that. I'm not in that weight loss camp admittedly, but I can definitely give you ears if that will help you. I'll add you.
  • I confess that I would like to put on a few pounds of muscle but I care too much about the eating habits of people I see the most, and just about all of said people are overweight. I fear becoming like them because it seems to be a family trait. It stops me dead in my tracks from eating enough to match the activity level I…
  • I can only speak for me, but I say nay to cheat days. Heck, I have to concede right now that I'm too undisciplined -- thanks to an unhealthy relationship for food that I haven't a clue in the world where I can talk about that -- to even eat normally most weeks. But the honest truth is I can't let myself cheat because so…
  • If I can also chime in: When I ran my first 5K I used an app called RunDouble which has a really good time based program. It starts you out with longer walk than run intervals and slowly builds you up from there. I also refused to put myself on a time target. It's about the finish line, not the finish time. The medal…
  • Still kinda new here -- this is only my second full day -- but my plan is to keep an active diary and an active blog. Can I add you? Or would another respondent to this like to add me?
  • Sure laurawaller, I'll add you. Could use some motivation myself.
  • I would feel better about keeping a diary here if I knew someone was reading it. Open to people adding me.
  • Hi LithaSonner! I concede I don't have diabetes so I'm not sure how much help I can be, but I would like to try. I will add you.
  • I'm kinda weary about random friend requests, so I'm just going to put in a request to be mentored. Relevant info: 38 years old, 5'11", 159 at last weigh-in earlier this week. Casual runner who has run one 5K but had to abandon plans for a second because of holes in my training plan, mostly strength training related. But…
  • I'm sick of politics too; last year was a VERY difficult year. I admit I can't be a dream accountability buddy (no gym access because I don't drive), but I'd be glad to be an accountability buddy here if you want one (I could use one too).
  • Thanks everyone! If I can just voice my concern about YouTube: I've read that there's a reason those are free, because the right search term can pull up just about anything...and I have to be honest in saying I don't know a burpee from a bench press (because I don't know what a burpee is). So I've had to make a habit out…
