  • I try to do the same with skin-on chicken thighs but there's never enough fat on those to satiate me. I always end up either making a couple pounds of steak tips or breaking down the chicken into chicken salad with mayo, mustard and bacon. Also, pork rinds are amazing for avoiding carbs and being a snacky food. My local…

  • I found the Planters Spanish Red Skin Peanuts are 1g net carb per serving compared to all other nuts. They are now a huge part of my snack routine. Planters Party Peanuts are also very good - you get a lot of quantity per serving for not a lot of carbs. Just an FYI in case you're looking to save a few net grams here or…

  • Been doing keto since December combined with a 20/4 IF routine consuming max 1700 calories per day. I've lost 55lbs and I feel amazing. I typically eat between ~6pm-~9pm and have plenty of energy, no mid-morning crash, no afternoon crash and no cravings. I take a few supplements and drink 80-100oz of water per day. I've…
  • Yesterday's numbers: 1361 Calories 10g carbs - 6g fiber = 4g net carbs
  • I don't know if they have Vermont Meat Sticks in your stores but they are pretty awesome IMHO and a couple of the flavors are 0 sugars / carbs.

  • Don't forget, keto stix only show an excess of ketones in your system. Once you are keto-adjusted and your ketones are no longer in excess, the color may fade to almost white / pale. That's not an indicator that you're doing something wrong or you are out of ketosis, so don't freak out if that happens.
  • You're welcome to friend me. There's a large group of us from the keto sub on reddit as well. Don't put too much pressure on yourself for macros or calories the first few weeks, give yourself time to get keto-adjusted and finding and enjoying keto-friendly foods. Just remember to keep up with your electrolytes, drink lots…
  • I don't think this violates any rules of these boards, but this is a link to the Keto FAQ on Reddit and that's what I used when I started back in December. Good luck!
  • Hello! Starting weight in Dec: 280 lbs Current weight: 227 lbs Final goal weight: 175 lbs I'm also doing the r/keto 6-week challenge which started last week and my goal is 15lbs. My starting weight for the 6-week challenge was 230 lbs so I've lost 3 lbs in the last week - 12 lbs to go to reach my goal for this cycle. KCKO…
  • Yes. Meats, cheeses, mashed cauliflower w/ butter and melted cheese, parmesan crisps, moon cheese snacks. These are all much healthier alternatives than bread and will quench that hunger that you desire.
  • If you're counting and measuring everything you're taking in, what are the net carbs you're taking in per day? I know for me that if I'm at or exceed 30-50g per day I don't lose nearly as fast as when I'm at 25g per day or less. Make sure you're taking in a good amount of healthy fats per day too - just decreasing carbs…
  • Oh, lord no. I wish. I was young, dumb and screwed it all because I got bored with the food I was eating and didn't know any better. Been back on the wagon seriously for about 6 weeks. If you've been maintaining, congrats! Much respect. :)
  • I was a younger man then and only knew how to cook one thing. 3 egg omelette with either 3 hotdogs chopped up or ground beef mixed in and a handful of cheese on top to melt. Three times a day, 7 days a week. I'd also drink Diet Coke and enjoy a spoonful of peanut butter and sugar-free jello too. Some days I would do a…
  • Thanks! Ten years ago I did a high calorie LCHF with a lot of success actually - very similar to Sam Feltham's results but I didn't take in quite as many per day as he did. I only took in about 2700 calories a day which included 24 grams of carbs and I lost pretty steadily and regularly with minimal exercise. I'm guessing…
  • I don't know. Why wouldn't you? Have you had problems with a high calorie LCHF diet in the past? It sounds like if I did the same thing that Sam did you wouldn't believe me either, so I guess I'll just stick with what I've been doing. Thanks!
  • Why not? Send it over and let me take a look.
  • I don't have to - someone else already did.
  • Interesting ideas - thanks everyone!
  • *Not trying to hijack, just answering a question* Yes. I believe that if I were to change my macro split to a LFHC (200-300g carbs per day) type ratio and not change anything else I'm doing, my weight loss would effectively stop and I would, at a minimum, stay where I am if not gain weight. I could be eating extremely…
  • But is that really true? If you look at the Harvard Study that Greene did her findings weren't quite as definitive: "A study put three groups of dieters on different regimens. They included a low-fat group, a low-carbohydrate group that ate the same number of calories, and a third group on a similar low-carbohydrate plan…
  • Cool. Then I think we agree to disagree. While yes, calories are the same in terms of energy, I think the body processes the type of calorie very differently. Currently I'm at 1680 calories a day with Fat 60%, Protein 35%, Carbs 5%. If I changed that to Carbs 60%, Protein 35%, Fat 5% then I would continue to accumulate fat…
  • Sorry, I'm not familiar with the term macro split - is that the ratio of proteins / carbs / fats that you set to determine what type of calories you intake?
  • You need to know what your exact macro needs for the day are going to be. Then you need to measure, weigh, input everything into MFP. It's VERY easy to take in 40g a carb a day and get your body into a state of not losing weight. In Phase 3 and 4 of Atkins this would be On Going Weight Loss or Maintenance and you don't…
