  • If what you do works for you then continue doing it. If it stops working then try a different approach. For me, I have always logged my fruit and vegetables, weighing as I add each to my salad or whatever, but when I eat 10 or so serves a day those calories really stack up.
  • Better off downloading an app that measures both time and distance. Something like Strava or Map My Walk.
  • Mine sure doesn't, even if I drink the entire litre in one sitting.

  • This is normally a result of inaccurate logging for most people, either with the calories going in and/or the calories going out. If what you are doing works for you and you are losing at a healthy rate (no more than 10% of your body weight) there really is no need to change your approach. If it stops working then…
  • Do you know what I really think is bad for weight loss? It is people that label foods as good or bad, people that put so many restrictions on what they think they should and should not be eating and when they should be eating them. These rules make weight loss much harder for the average person. As long as you meet the…
  • You are not with him 24/7. It isn't hard to get something to eat on the way to and from work or during a lunch break.
  • This is what I was thinking.
  • I just sync my Fitbit with MFP and use the calories it gives me. So much easier than adding exercise individually and any exercise that is step-based is normally reasonable accurate this way.
  • Eating those 90 calories will slow your weight loss down a little which isn't necessarily a bad thing. Slow and steady wins the race. Also, have you chosen a 2 pound a week weight loss? If so this is most likely too quick, to begin with. Losing weight too quickly is unstainable, which often results in yo-yo dieting, and…
  • Your BMR is the basic number of calories needed if you were in a coma. You should never eat less than this amount as long term undereating will result in significant health problems. Your deficit should come off of your total daily energy expenditure instead which is much higher for most people than their BMR.
  • There are a number of aspects in the OP's comments that raise red flags for disordered eating and comments that justify them will do nothing to encourage treatment if there are issues. You are right that many of us walk while eating at times. That is not the issue. The issue is the compulsiveness to do this with most meals…
  • Add me to the list of people who do not see a pair of legs that is disproportionate to the rest of her body. Instead, I see someone who has a beautiful figure that many females would envy.
  • If you are that addicted to your step count that you are walking while eating I think it is time to get rid of the pedometer. It really isn't a healthy frame of mind. Having a salad before a meal is a great way of getting all those nutrients but aim for balance. Rather than just lettuce make your salad as colourful as…
  • There are some added steps while driving but I think most would do this when you change gears or drive on bumpy roads.
  • Some great tips but things like grocery shopping or housework should not be added as intentional exercise if you use MFP as intended as they are really just part of your day to day activity level instead.
  • I have a Charge 3 and like both the style and functionality of it. It seems to be quite accurate too. Just a little under what I actually seem to burn. I do know that others with the same model have had some problems with the watch not working properly. Updates have helped with this for many though.
  • I am relieved that you are seeing a doctor sooner rather than later. Fingers crossed that it turns out to be something relatively easy to fix.

  • You are eating way more than you think you are. It really is as simple as that. If you were in a deficit the weight would be coming off. The loss would not be linear but the trend over time would be downwards. As already mentioned there are many common logging errors that are made and most of us here also made them when we…
  • I think you will find that the treadmill calories are 300 extra calories (just exercise calories) and the watches 750 are total calories (exercise plus normal BMR calories) burned in that time.
  • I find it hard to believe that a grown woman would be needing to only eat 900 calories a day to lose 1/2 pound a week, regardless of how old they are, unless they were closer to 4" than 5". My guess is that you are actually inaccurate with your logging and instead of eating 900 calories a day you are closer to 1200…
  • I'd get very sick of logging and tracking too if I were so anal about getting my macros spot on and would be yearning for a break from it. The great thing about weight loss is that it is much more about your calorie deficit than it is about hitting particular macros. As long as you are meeting the minimum requirements for…
  • Look up the symptoms of gallstones and see if that is a possibility. If so then eating small meals and limiting fats might help ease symptoms until you see the doctor, or at least give you an idea of when you should seek more urgent attention.

  • Users have entered those foods too! I know I do when the scanned bar code is inaccurate or missing.
  • That is why you double check with the nutrition labels first. If 100 serves of 1 gram are the same as 1 serve of 100 grams which will always be on a label you are good to go.
  • What works for me is eating 5 smalls meals a day which includes plenty of protein and plenty of fibre with a nice serving of fat thrown in. I also love my veggies so can eat a lot without heaps of calories to go with it. What doesn't work for me is a low carb diet and IF. Doing these made it harder to stay on track. It…
  • You can always change the weight to grams, from the drop-down menu as you add the food. Then you can simply put exactly how many grams you have weighed.
  • You have mentioned all of these things that you are doing but how are you actually tracking your food intake? While there is likely gain because of the increased exercise, unless you are weighing the food you eat, there is a pretty good chance that you are eating more than you think you are which can affect weight loss.…
  • I have to walk around 20,000 steps to eat that amount. I don't know if that is really anything to be jealous of.
  • I'd strongly suggest talking to your doctor about these concerns rather than posting here. Hopefully, a doctor would successfully point you in the right direction. We can't help you, as you are not at a point where you want to take on advice. It appears that you just want someone to confirm that what you are doing is ok,…
  • Your dog could also give as much solid advice as some nutritionists out there, or at least nothing harmful. The things some say is just plain scary. There are some that know their stuff but it is very hit and miss.
