Coronavirus Memes
I know that many memes have been posted in the coronavirus prep thread but decided it was time for a thread of just memes. This is a stressful time for us all and it is important to be mindful of our mental health. Sometimes, we just need something to smile at to help us through. This was posted in the other thread but it…

Does a Reduction of Exercise = Reduction of Water Retention?
I know that increasing exercise will result in fluid retention but is the opposite also true. I am asking because over the last week I have reduced the amount of walking I do while slightly increasing my net calories in the hopes of slowly gaining a few kilos while finding an amount of exercise which is maintainable long…

Unexpected Outcomes With Weight Loss
What outcomes have you noticed that you never expected when those pounds started dropping off? A couple of mine are; Although chairs are more comfortable to sit in because you fit better, you can't seem to sit as long because your bum doesn't have as much padding. It takes so much less time to shave my legs. Not only is…

This is my remaining kilojoules at sedentary and this for very active Why is there such a big difference with the remaining amount of calories for the day as I would have thought that…

Personality and Obesity
I am often very skeptical of anything I read in the news about weight loss and diet but found this one to have some interesting points. It is all about calories in verses calories out but for some of us the impulsive decisions to overeat make dieting so much harder.…

Hate the term skinny fat
Someone mentioned this term in the forums the other day and it bothered me and got me thinking. It is such a negative term which just further teaches us to be ashamed of not having the perfect body. I was even doing some reading about it from body building websites who talked about how unhealthy being skinny fat was.…

Can't maintain but keep losing...
It is really doing my head in. For months I have been trying to find how much I need to eat to maintain. I think I have it as my weight is quite consistent for a few weeks and then bam, I start losing again. I now have the app set to gain 1/4 kilo a week and am still losing. My BMI is now around 20. I now have my…

Does anyone have Pacer Pedometer & Weight Loss Coach Synced with MFP?
If so how accurate do you find it with giving you the extra calories? Having a hard time working out appropriate maintenance calories as my step count varies greatly from day to day. The extremes are from 15,000 to 60,000.

Going by TDEE rather than NEAT?
I decided to change from NEAT to add my daily exercise calories and go by TDEE and then add any additional calories on top of that. I thought it would be easier to manage. However, I don't know if I can cope seeing how much weight I would gain in 5 weeks eating at that amount all the time when I am trying to maintain.…

Loose skin.....
Losing all this weight has been great, except for all the loose skin that came with it. The joys of being the wrong side of 40 for weight loss. Will this skin eventually shrink back closer to my current size or is it something to deal with for the rest of my life?

When to stop weight loss.
How do you really know when you have reached the 'ideal' weight and transition into maintenance? I am only 1 kg off of my goal but my body fat percentage is still 28% and I would like it to be a bit lower although this is still an acceptable amount for my age. My BMI is 23 but with an extra kilo gone it will be 22.5%. Also…

Resistance Training at home
I want to build some upper body strength but can't afford a gym. Wanting some good ideas that can be done at home without equipment. Everything has to be low impact on my knee though which can not cope with much more than walking on level ground. This walking is my cardio workout. I have exercises that the physio has given…
