There are times in our lives where weight loss should not be the priority. Perhaps this is one of those times.

🍿let me grab my popcorn first. Yes, of course you can. Do you want to? That's up to you!

You can really only do one or the other at your weight (which is already lean). You can gain muscle or lose fat. If you want to gain muscle, increase your calories and lift weights. If you want to lose fat, decrease calories. Pick the one you want most. If it's gaining muscle, then you can lose the fat AFTER you gain the…

1 inch off your waist and dropping pants sizes is amazing! So proud of you.

I wouldn't force myself to eat more. If you're feeling good, it's fine. You don't really "need" to eat enough to support all the fat you have, so as long as you're eating enough to support your body's important processes (and it sounds like you are) you should be fine. Just pay attention to how you feel.

Perfect!

This post is 14 years old. It's unlikely that any of the commenter's are still on MFP. And while you are correct about only drinking beer, I think you misunderstood what the original poster was saying.

You could reasonably expect to lose 2 to 4 pounds over the next two weeks. Healthy entirely depends on what you consider healthy, so I can't really speak to that. Name a food, someone will call it healthy and someone else will say it'll kill you, so it's really a moot question. Filling... I'd focus on protein. But…

Most programs, MFP included, will expect you to simply avoid any meals that contain eggs or use an egg replacement. Most are not capable of modifying for an allergy for you, as they are meant to be used by the general population.

You're already at the low end of normal BMI, so yes, it will feel extremely difficult. I agree with Tom that if you want to build muscle you're going to have to up your calories and focus on weight training first. But, your body, your choice, do as you see fit.

Gaining weight doesn't necessarily mean you gained muscle. How long did it take you to gain the weight? Muscle takes quite a while to gain.

I would actually argue that marriage causes people to become their worst self. They lose the anxiety that their significant other will leave, and then they let their freak flag fly. For example, it's common for abusive individuals to rush you into into marriage, because then they can begin truly abusing you without the…

It's your body. That's the beautiful part. You can do what you want with it. So just do what you like, see if it gets you results you are happy with.

It could be water weight from increasing your calories suddenly. Try one more week and see if it has settled or if you've gone up more. If you go up more this coming week, try lowering your calories by maybe 250.

I would say follow your doctors advice as best you can. He is the one who will be performing surgery on you, so he's really the one you need to be listening to in order for him to do his job as best he can.

Very well said! Of course using weight loss meds is not cheating or wrong or anything else. Do what's best for you, but I also agree that compound pharmacies are not ideal. I also understand that many people don't have the luxury of getting their meds through an fda regulated source.

Are you counting caliries? Eating "healthier" is great, but doesn't really lead to weight loss directly. Too much of a good thing is still too much.

You're already at the low end of normal weight for your height, so any loss will likely be slow and a challenge. MFP will give you an estimated calorie goal. Look at your diary section, go into settings, make sure you have all your stats set correctly and that you have it set for .25 pounds per week. At your size I REALLY…

This generally comes back to sodium vs. salt. Sodium only makes up a fraction of salt (the rest is chloride). If the salt amounts were added instead of sodium, the amounts would seem much higher than they actually are. This could be the difference you are seeing.

While this can be true in ultra processed products, it's not generally true for dairy products such as milk or cheese. Because they don't have sugar added (even the low fat ones), they have the same amount of sugar. That being said, the good thing about the fat is that it slows the absorption of the sugar into your system.

I know, I was saying that because there are people out there who might, and they may have been reading. Laxatives are fine when needed. I wasn't trying to blame or accuse you of anything, promise.

Track religiously. Make it routine. Every time you eat, it gets tracked. Find low calorie foods you can eat more of (fruits/veggies). Get plenty of protein in. That's my suggestion. It can be hard, for sure.

Maybe find a different coach? Or try it on your own? I wouldn't stick with a coach who wasn't listening to me. That's a big part of coaching, working WITH your client.

Yes, it can be subjective. She originally described herself as very thin, as I specified in that statement. She later corrected herself and said she *used to be*, which makes a big difference. Frankly, I rarely believe people when they say how many calories they are eating.

I'm with retroguy. I think you should try dumbells. Split squats and lunges could be helpful. But I've heard that machines can exacerbate muscle imbalances whereas dumbells force both sides to work.
-
I'd say lean bulk and focus on plenty of protein.
-
Yup. That's exactly what happened to m e with intermittent fasting. "Saving calories" can work for some people, but for me, nope.
-
That's making a big assumption. It's really common in the dieting community to use laxatives to "clean yourself out" and make your weight go down. People that do this are likely to have issues. Given that the op asks about constipation slowing weight loss, they could be teetering towards doing this. But yes, your average…
-
Absolutely agree. I think this is one of the biggest issues.

This really is a conversation to have with your doctor. Describing yourself as extremely thin and eating 1200 or fewer calories really is textbook eating disorder. Unless you have cancer. Either of which necessitates a doctor's help.
