I joined mfp wayyy back, and the weight was slowly dropping, and I do mean slowly.
Then in 2017 I was diagnosed with throat cancer. Refused a feeding tube many times because I read somewhere about how learning to swallow was hard. I ate, boost, ice cream with honey, yum, pureed soups (throat cancer is the cancer of 1000 paper cuts!)
Anyways one fight later, my weight started to drop, seriously DROP.
(85 pounds in about 2 months)
End of 17, beginning of 18, apart from Drs yelling at me, my weight was where it should be. Apparently chemo revs your metabolism.
I got threatened, hold the weight, gain a little or we'll have you in here and sort you out!
It slowly came back ALL of it, and now it won't go
Permanently exhausted, every side effect of radiation known and then some. Bad knees, bad hips, And the weight will not go.I watch my metrics,
Any advice greatly appreciated

There are times in our lives where weight loss should not be the priority. Perhaps this is one of those times.2

I'm unclear: Are you entirely post treatment now? NED at this point, or dealing with mets, or something ambiguous in between? That matters, as Sollyn implies. Also, are you still seeing an oncology team, for follow up if nothing else, or is that past?
FWIW, I'm a survivor of somewhat advanced cancer, different type (stage III breast cancer) who first got active, then eventually lost weight (obese to healthy range) much later using MFP.
I'm aware that fitness and weight loss (either, but especially both) can improve quality of life post treatment, and in some situations even reduce mortality risks. I'd like to help you, because those things have been so powerful for me. Knowing a bit more about where you are in the process might help.
Best wishes!2 -
NED at this point, I see Onc once a year.
As i said, every radiation side effect, baroreceptor dysfunction, fried thyroid, everything
I was so happy when the weight was falling off, yes it was very fast, but my knees loved me and I had so much energy. Lots of flabby bits, apron, wings, the works. So I never went sleeveless and tucked the rest in
But it came back, and even though I'm not eating more (it's just not pureed) it won't go away!
So yes, I have physical limitations, but I do miss the tiny jeans...1
