  • Week 3 day 1 complete today. I'm using the NHS podcasts rather than any apps. It seems to work for me. Slowing down has made a big difference to the pain and therefore the enjoyment of running. I actually didn't mind the 3 minutes today and I'm quite looking forward to 5 minutes next week.
  • C25K week 3 day 1 for me today. The longest run was 3 minutes which wasn't too bad. This programme seems to be working for me and I'm enjoying seeing myself make progress.
  • 06/07 : 133.7. (starting weight) 13/07 : 130.8 20/07: 130.5 27/08: 129.8 A loss of .7kg this week and a total of 3.9kg
  • I stopped about 2 years ago. I started working in London for a few months (train commute) and then when that stopped and I was working locally again I was just out of the habit. I also sometimes have to nip home at lunchtime to walk my dog, I don't have time to do that using a bike. I'm thinking of getting an electric bike…
  • Week 2 day 2 today. I found that by slowing down the pain in my left shin was much less. So from a pain point of view today's session was fine, it didn't stop my heart feeling like it was going to explode.
  • I'm away all of August visiting my in-laws so probably won't be good at tracking. Sorry. I'd be up for something in September though.
  • C25K week 2 day 2 today. I found the NHS podcast to run with which I find better than any of the apps I found. A mix of music I don't know and some encouraging words from Laura telling me when to run and when to walk. I'm going to delete the app and stick with the podcasts I think. Hope you all have an excellent day.
  • A quick bike ride with my son this morning before work (at home). It was only 35 mins and about 4 miles but over 400 calories burnt according to my watch. Explains why I piled on the pounds since I stopped the 15 mile daily cycle commute.
  • Yep thanks, I got some Brooks fitted at the local running store - they did a gait analysis and recommended these. The shoes are good although I preferred my old Nike free shoes that had very little support. I suspect it's just my muscles getting tired and tight and causing my left foot to flop around. I'm about 60lbs…
  • I did week 2 day 1 of C25K today, so that's 6 X 90s of running. It was fine today, still don't like running but I do love the feeling of making progress and followin a plan. Tomorrow is a C25K rest day, normally I walk, but I think I'll get the bike out and go for a ride.
  • I read in a book last night about getting your mind in the right place. 2 things stuck with me so much I was thinking about them this morning: - think about what you're heading towards and not moving away from. So rather than "I don't want to be fat" it's better to think things like "I want to wear size ABC jeans". Studies…
  • You're the biggest loser this week so far! 3 lbs, well done.
  • Brisk walk for me this morning before work - approx 2 miles along an old railway line that is now a track through the woods.
  • 06/07 : 133.7. (starting weight) 13/07 : 130.8 20/07: 130.5 A loss of .3kg, less that 1lb. I knew my loss would slow in week 2. I was surprised I lost anything at all given the first week. My weight can fluctuate by 1kg a day quite easily. So this week I feel like I've consolidated the loss of the first week and that…
  • Week 1 day 3 of c25k for me yesterday, it felt pretty good and it made me make sensible choices at s BBQ later with friends. Hoping that shows on weigh in today.
  • Week 1 Day 2 for me today, felt pretty good today, didn't hate it quite so much and you can't beat the feeling when it stops. I also get to feel smug all day that I've been out and exercised. Good luck everyone for the exercise you'll so today. Keep at it.
  • My friend keeps telling me it's great for clearing your head and thinking about life. When I run all I can think is "don't die, don't die, don't die". Well done on getting out there and doing the first day! Day 2 tomorrow, let's keep going.
  • A brisk 2 mile walk this morning for me, followed by some scrambled eggs and then off to work (in my dining room). Today's walk was pretty much the same speed as my run yesterday, but it all helps.
  • So week 1 day 1 of the c25k programme for me today. I was out on the old disused railway track which is quite popular with runners, cyclist, horse riders etc. I didn't take the dog this morning, he's got a limp so didn't want him to run too far. Also he gets confused when I run - he thinks I'm having a seizure and keeps…
  • Telly (UK) = television (US)
  • I've been watching the biggest loser Australia on Amazon prime. I know it's not real life and there are hundreds of reasons why it sets unrealistic expectations BUT I still find it quite motivational. I find myself shouting "well of course you won't lose weight if your eat THAT" at the telly as I'm heading off to the…
  • Thanks! I know it's mostly water because no junk food means less sodium. So I know not to get dispondent if it goes up again. As long as the trend is down I'm happy.
  • I've found that if I clean my teeth when my son goes to bed (8pm) I tend not to snack so much in the evenings.
  • I'll be checking in each Monday 06/07 : 133.7. (starting weight) 13/07 : 130.8
  • I've notice that when I sit at my desk it feels uncomfortable on my right side - I think it's the folds of my body*. So this is a big motivator for me right now. It's the first time my weight has really made just existing uncomfortable. *Apologies for this mental image, but it might put you off your breakfast and therefore…
  • So just for today I'm going to have a big breakfast of omlette with vegetables and I'm going to avoid sugar. I was in a prett unhealthy habit cycle so I'm trying to break it one day at a time. What are you doing for today?
  • Hello, I did write a big long introduction but it didn't seem to work, so here's a shorter version. I'm middle aged English person who has put on about 30kg in the last 10 years, most of it in the last 5. I need to lose at least that weight and possibly 10 more. I'm looking for people who are doing the same who I can share…
  • I am European though so work in kg. SW 133.8kg CW 130.9kg
  • Count me in - I've easily got 100lbs to lose and am looking for a group of people who are active online. I can't work out how to friend people on my phone though, but feel free to add me.
