  • I'm trying to shift my mindset so that I'm heading towards better health, rather than running away from being obese. So I've been thinking about what the new, slimmer me would do, what things I'm looking forward to. - Eating healthily, not binging "bad food" but not depriving myself. Not being embarassed by food. - Being…

  • Hello from the south coast - it's great that this thread is still going after 2 years. Very happy to have people add me as a friend - I could use some active friends in this timezone.
  • Thanks for the warm welcome all. I'm really excited by this group idea and the different teams. Just so I understand this - we're all going to move to a new thread at the start of July and I'll start weighing in then - is that right?
  • Winston Churchil once said "Perfection is the enemy of progress".
  • I'm using the web application.
  • I went to Community, Groups and then off to the right under the "group options" there is "create group" link, looks like this: There is also a Green button to create a new group.
  • I'd like to be part of a motivational group. Did you know you can create a group in MFP and have your own message boards. I joined this one https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/140760-100-pounds-to-lose but happy to join another if you create one (don't really do facebook)
  • I've joined some people on this group https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/140760-100-pounds-to-lose I'm sure they'd welcome others who want to join. The group is basically like a mini version of message boards but with the same people involved which makes it easier to have conversations and make supportive…
  • Is anyone interested in joining an MFP group where we can chat and support each other?
  • I'm in for this. I'd like to find a group of people who chat and encourage each other. I find my feed is just the automatic updates, rarely real messages from people. Would anyone be interested in creating or joining a, MFP group where people can chat and check in with each other?
  • I read something last night that stuck with me this morning. It was something like - A fixation with the end goal demeans the here and now. It renders the moments we live less important than the place we want to go. This means that I need to learn to love the process, the journey, and not focus solely on the end result.…
  • Many thanks all, there are some good things for me to remember here: - have a food plan - track food - take away temptation - find a positive reason for change - small steps
  • Very happy to join a little this little community. I want to lose about 100lbs and would love friends who are active on MFP and want to chat and support each other. Happy for anyone to add me.
  • That's excellent, congratulations, even upside down it's a big smile. I think I would snap trying that.
  • First day out of quarantine today so I started week 4 day 1 - I couldn't remember where I got to. The 5 minute run was fine, probably the most comfortable I've been while running, so that was good news. Glad I'm back on the programme.
  • First day out of quarantine today and I celebrated by going for a run. Back to week 4 day 2 of the Couch 2 5k programme as I haven't run for about a month. The run was fine, the longest stretch being 5 minutes but I managed it pretty comfortably. So I'm happy to be back on the programme. Hope you're all finding fun ways to…
  • I make little breakfast muffins of chopped veg, beaten egg and cottage cheese mixed up and out in a muffin tin, then baked for 15 mins. I find then quite a good protein filled snack. I've been reading a lot about fat and carbs recently. I naturally pick fat free food without thinking, but now I realise that's a mistake. I…
  • I hope you're ok. Fingers crossed you recover quickly. I'm about to hit the stationary bike, got 2 more days of quarantine and then I'm going to get out running again.
  • 06/07 : 133.7kg (starting weight) 13/07 : 130.8 20/07: 130.5 27/07: 129.8 (Holiday in France, didn't weigh in) 19/08: 127.1 24/08: 127.0 31/08: 126.0
  • I'm still in quarantine which means exercising is limited to the stationary bike, I did 30 minutes this morning before work. I'm looking forward to being able to get outside and restart the C25K running programme I was doing. What are others doing for exercise today?
  • Is there anybody still in this group?
  • I'm struggling a bit with food at the moment. I've cut back on carbs and I've been making sure I have a large meat + veg lunch, however we're in stupid quarantine which means we can't leave the house so we're eating through things in the cupboard before our grocery delivery arrives tomorrow. Yesterday's meals were some…

  • Right in the centre, in the Loire valley. It's farmland for as far as you can see so not hugely exciting, but lots of beautiful chateaus around - it's near where my wife's family life.
  • Ok so minor hiccup in training. I went to France where it want practical to run - it was 38C most days. I'm now on quarantine for the next 14 days so no running for me until September. I'm going to pick it back up in September.
  • I'm stuck in quarantine for 14 days so can't leave the house which meant yesterday was walking on the treadmill and cycling in the stationary bike. Not ideal but at least it was something. I haven't really exercised at all during my holiday but we are renovating a house in France so spent a lot of time gardening, knocking…

  • I'm back in England now after a trip to France to see the family. The government say I now have to quarantine for 14 days which means I can't leave my house. I ordered a delivery of groceries. While in France we had the main meal of the day at lunchtime and then a light salad in the evening. I'm going to try and continue…
  • It happens, well done for still posting and not hiding away. Good luck for this week!
