Why would four a day be a definite problem? I don't drink any sort of soda, diet or otherwise, just because I have never really had a taste for it, but I have no issue with people that do. In the case of diet soda, tell me what would be the harm of drinking four zero calorie drinks a day. There is absolutely no credible…

Where did OP ever say her medical issues were ignored? She simply said her doctor attributed her medical issues to her weight. She never clarified and said she found out later that they were not, she simply said the doctor didn't know what they were talking about because that was their diagnosis. I do think it is ignorant…

Your personal anecdote doesn't change the fact that there are a myriad of health issues that are directly attributed to obesity. Is every doctor perfect? Of course not, but the OP claimed that they were "fit af" even though they were overweight/obese(they didn't specify). It is that type of thinking that is ignorant in my…

I think as long as you start off the conversation by saying "thats not how I saw that lift done on youtube" you shouldn't have any issues. Try it with a variety of different guys and please report back the results.
-
Ignorance would be you not listening to your doctor if she told you that your issues were weight related. I would value her professional medical opinion over your ego. You might not like what she had to say but it doesn't make it untrue.

Not to mention, if a person is concerned about saving money then it would be in their best interest to lose weight. I would think a person's overall health would be prioritized, but sometimes inexplicably money is more important.

I never said anything makes me feel dumber. I said I would possibly feel more intelligent. So in the case of your tips regarding raccoon meat, I was not necessarily smarter based on the tip(I have no use for this as I no longer live in the Chicago area although coincidentally enough I used to), but definitely entertained…

Does it have the "Stevie Wonder isn't really blind" conspiracy theory on there? That one is my favorite, and I'm not going to lie, I kind of sort of feel like that one might be true.
-
This discussion really has become quite the thrill ride. A dozen or so pages of debating cake culture with an angry person followed by a spirited debate about how legumes should be classified. If this thread were to ever die I would feel sad, yet a little bit more intelligent at the same time.

Maybe it is the best they can get at the moment, but a person always has the ability to improve themselves and their position in life. Some people have that desire and some don't. I believe the point was that there is a decent percentage that simply does not put in the effort to do that. Those same people tend to not be…

https://stateofobesity.org/healthcare-costs-obesity/ Its pretty clearly stated in the link above. Here is a preview: "Obese adults spend 42 percent more on direct healthcare costs than adults who are a healthy weight."
-
You could argue against this all you want, but you would be dead wrong. Your own personal experience does not invalidate decades of data. Statistically speaking @jdlobb was 100% correct.
-
Thank you, you explained this better than I did, but what you say is absolutely what I meant. I was not at all implying that people of a healthy weight couldn't get cancer. I lost my brother in law who was in fantastic shape to pancreatic cancer so I am well aware that cancer can get anyone.
-
Well yeah, obviously. My point was that their overall risk of cancer would decrease because they lost weight which is absolutely true.

I work in IT and my job entails sitting in front of a computer for most of the day. I had a small slice of carrot cake today that someone left in the break room. You know what else I did? I walked in the morning and the afternoon on both of my breaks. Tonight I will go to kickboxing, and when I get home I will chase my…

Someone brought a carrot cake with cream cheese icing in to my workplace today. We almost never really make anything like that at home so it is nice having the option to enjoy a treat from time to time. Plus carrots are a vegetable so its kind of like I am having a salad.

It's not the cake that made Bill fat anyways. Its genetics. Or his slow metabolism. CICO definitely doesn't apply to Bill. I think I've seen Bill posting in the forums before.
-
True, but obesity is actually a risk factor for cancer. Statistically speaking, if a person were obese and they lost weight their risk of cancer goes down as well as all sorts of other risk factors such as heart disease and diabetes. Insurance premiums are directly correlated to risk factor.

I don't see anyone glorifying any of the things you mention. What I do see is people defending the right to celebrate special occasions with co-workers. When we have potlucks at work, some people bring brownies, some bring cookies, and I normally try to bring a healthier option. I may or may not have a brownie, but whether…

Oh yeah, the sarcasm was pretty evident and your posts rarely fail to clearly make your point. I just know that even though you were being sarcastic, there are others out there who legitimately would love to ban this sort of thing.
-
Unfortunately, this is exactly how stuff like this gets banned. One person gets their feelings hurt, or feels offended when people are generally just trying to be nice and cries about it until nobody else can partake. Its cake. For people's birthdays. Good God, I don't even know how this topic has sustained debate. If you…
-
Pretty much. I just said "ok then" and I let go of the door and walked inside. I probably was at the store to buy cake or something.

There was something about offering alcohol to minors as well, but I didn't quite understand it's relevance...

I did completely get cussed out by a lady for holding the door open for her at Target once. She said something along the lines of "I can open the door for my *kitten* self". I couldn't believe it.
-
See this is where you completely lose me in this argument. Eating cake in itself is not unhealthy. Eating the whole cake would be. I can eat a piece of cake and still be well within my calorie goals for the day. Having a beer when I am out for a very rare date night with my wife is not unhealthy. If I were to do a kegstand…
-
If you don't eat it then why would you say "So to me, it's torture to have to pretend to eat some kind of gooey treat. Blerg." I find it odd that others bringing in treats out of kindness is such torture for you. I don't always have a cookie or cake when people bring in treats but I appreciate the thought behind it. I'd…

Being fat is unhealthy. Just like smoking is unhealthy. A current smoker may not have lung cancer, but their risk is much greater than it would be if they didn't smoke. An obese person may not currently have diabetes, or high blood pressure, but they are greatly increasing their risk for a number of health issues. Anything…
-
Or you could just not eat it.

You shared a personal anecdote to illustrate how it is hard for tall men to overeat, and then you say that personal anecdotes should be taken with a grain of salt. That's a bit ironic I'd say. As a tall man, I would have no problem throwing down 4000 calories(or much more to be honest) but I am also carrying quite a bit…

Not everyone loses weight as easily, or in the same manner, but the formula is the same across the board. Someone may be considered "naturally thin" because they live a more active lifestyle and were raised with a healthier relationship with food which prevents them from overeating. Others may find it more difficult…
