  • I'm in. Starting up again at MFP. I had great success after figuring out LCHF stuff that worked for me, and I got lazy about staying engaged with MFP. But, I'm back... Coming off a three-month carb "slip up" (more like a full-on Slip-N-Slide headfirst dive - Hahaha!). I've been getting more interested in the science and…
  • Yes please! Thanks!! I'm always looking for decent low carb dessert recipes that are good enough to take/serve to dinner parties etc.... You look like you CLEARLY know what you're doing!!
  • Wow - looks fantastic! Would never have thought of the radish/potato substitution!!! Thanks for sharing - I'll be making this tomorrow!
  • Last THREE days were 5 for 5! I can't believe I am actually back on track after struggling to get there for so many weeks! Whoo Hoo! This thread was clearly inspiring! Thank you! Hit (under - yay!) Carb target :) Hit( under - yay!) Calorie target :) No Booze :) Stayed off the scale :) Kick *kitten* attitude :)
  • Commitments for the day: 1. 3 planned meals 2. Hit carb target 3. Hit calorie target 4. No Booze 5. NAIL IT with a positive attitude! Check in tonight! All the best for a great day to everyone-
  • Hi there! I hope it's ok that I'm jumping in on week 2. I'm just getting back to working on my weight loss goal as of today. I LOVE this idea but don't want to wait until Nov 1 to start up - hope ya don't mind :) Daily Goals: * 3 planned meals per day * Keep Carbs to 20g or under * Cals at 1200 (I know it seems low but I'm…
  • I just wanted to add that it can often be "hard" to do this. It's frightening/horrible/sad/infuriating etc... to know you need to resort to survival instincts to protect yourself just for being out in public. I, as many of you I'm sure, have had some men get physically aggressive if you "disrespect" them. Perfecting user…
  • I have found a somewhat aggressive ( direct, a little louder than normal, neutral in emotion, a more formal address rather than just a "hey" or "what's up" etc...) "HELLO!" or "GOOD MORNING" etc... with direct eye contact is off putting for men. If you can get the jump on them and take away they're predatory drive ( you're…
  • Here are my two cents. I am the same height and currently 150. My goal is also 130. My BMR calculation is 1245 cals. My TDEE for maintenance is 1608 cals, for weight loss the calculation is 1108 cals. This calculation is based on "sedentary" lifestyle which I am fine with. I have been sloppy and eating 1200-1300 calories a…
  • Read up about keto on reddit.com to get you started. Their "Keto in a Nutshell" and "Keto FAQ" info are fantastic. If you are a woman ( I'm not sure since there a man and woman in your pic - lol ) go to the subreddit xxketo as it's more geared to specific keto issues/questions that women have. Good luck. There are a lot of…
  • Thank you. I'm 55 and I'm sure that has something to do with it :) Had my thyroid checked ( all the tests) etc.. All came back ok. For the month thus far I've eaten an average of 14 net carbs a day. Lately, I have been trying to keep it below 10. I lost 2lbs this AM but I would bet my house that I will have gained it back…
  • Thanks so much for commenting on this. Would you mind giving me your further thoughts? My A1c was 5.0 so considered ok. But, my fasting BG is 101 and my HOMA-IR ( testing for insulin resistance) was borderline at 2.7. as My C-Reative Protein levels were also borderline at 2.8 . I'm not sure what to make of it all. I have…
  • That's a good point. I had heard of it and it seems like the most likely explanation but thought it so odd to start out that way. It could be that since I was a dedicated low carber before starting keto that my body isn't interested in doing the "usual" initial weight loss. After this morning I've decided to just stop…
  • Thanks, I'll look this up - could be worth a try. Yes, definitely eating in a deficit. Even more so as I'm just not hungry very much 16 days into the keto program.
  • AAARRRGGGG! Gained 1 lb again! I have been losing, then gaining, losing then gaining the same 2lbs over and over again for 16 days! Is anyone else experiencing anything like this??? Between here and Reddidt I have gotten confirmations that I am doing everything right but I can't figure out what is going on! I'm BEYOND…
  • I've been reading a lot on Reddit keto groups ( they are another great resource) and there is a lot of info about how important keeping up electrolytes are - that I hadn't been doing. Bought some "Lite" salt today for the potassium and am going to really amp up supplementing with that, sodium and magnesium. Are you keeping…
  • Happened to me for the first time today ( I'm 16 days in ) and it was weird and awesome at the same time!
  • Checking in - Hope everyone is feeling great and looking forward to a fun ( keto friendly!) weekend :) Still no weight loss ( gained then lost 1lb over the last two days) but I'm feeling great and really think I'm hitting the "fat adapted" stage (?) as I'm NOT HUNGRY. So weird for me!! I came in under calories today and…
  • Funny reading through this. Oatmeal is like crack to me - LOL! Any form, all kinds. I would eat it until my stomach explodes. Plain, cream and sugar, hot, cold, salted, just butter, brown sugar and raisins - you get the idea. I haven't kept in my house for about 6 years because I can't be around it. Super weird, I know.…
  • Good Morning - I'm relatively new to MFP. May I join your group? I'm 55, recently put on 30lbs "all of a sudden" while starting hot flashes - whoo hoo! Let the fun begin! I've slowly and painfully lost 5 lbs since January-April. Ugh. Went to the doctor to start figuring out how to navigate "the change". LOL ! About two…

  • Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I guess I wasn't around for the vote deciding that "FUNG is a 4 letter word around here." LOL
  • I think that you have answered your own question in your post, that yes, it is a problem. The issue is not the weighing necessarily but the ritual, or compulsion you've built around it. Your need to explain in the post that "When we go out of town, out to eat, etc. I never bother with weighing" says a lot. It may be an…
  • Don't think of it as a bad day. I woke up this morning and after 12 days on keto ( averaging about 1400 cals, 17g,C, 67g P, 99g F) I gained back one of the two I lost. WTF? 2 lbs in 12, and now one gained back. I burst into tears I was so frustrated. I was so upset I ruined the rest of my family's mornings. LOL/UGH. I'm…
  • Good for you for "fessing up" ! LOL! We ALL mess up from time to time, so I appreciate your honesty :) Don't stress about it and just get back on the horse as they say! Cheers!
  • If you mean to calculate Net Carbs you can't :( It isn't something MFP can calculate. Hope they add that feature soon! Just subtract your fiber from your carbs at the end of the day. I'm going to start using the "Notes" section to put my daily Net Carb number in, so I can look back without having to do the math LOL
  • I like to hide behind my hero Baddie Winkle :)
  • What the HAES movement seems to want to do, in my opinion, is to try and normalize people being heavier than the human body is engineered to endure. They want people to agree that it's ok and just "different" . It's a little like people who smoke and say that they know someone who has smoked their whole lives and is…
  • Motivation? Complete and utter vanity. Narcissistic compulsion to still be the belle of the ball ( well, at least in a ballroom full of old people) Feels so naughty to say that out loud LOL!
  • Hi All- Net carbs 22g. Calories 1337 A tad over on both my goals but I don't feel so bad about it. Hungry and craving carbs ALL DAY after a rough night of insomnia so think I did pretty good actually :) Hope everyone is doing well!
