Brooks Launch 4. I read reviews on Amazon and then tried them on in the store near my house, plus tried on lots of other shoes. They were the most comfortable for my type of foot. I love them.

Another option would be to talk to a professional yourself about what you can do. Here's a national anorexia organization. They have contact info as well. I found them through a Google search. There are many more organizations like them. http://www.anad.org/get-information/about-eating-disorders/how-to-help-a-loved-one/

She wants to be 100 lbs for a 5'8" woman. That's an alarming eating disorder. She needs professional help. Hopefully, whoever prescribed the antidepressants will check her physical condition. Can you speak to her family who could talk to her doctor?

I went from a size 12-14 to a 6 and ate plenty of fruit and vegetables, which all have sugar and carbs. Calories matter for weight loss, not the type of food. Ketosis is not the only thing that works.

People will woo anything, that's why. People have dozens of different opinions about everything. If you've found a way of eating that works for you, go for it and ignore what other people think.

I love coffee. I started drinking it when I was 10 years old. It never affected me in any way until about a month ago. Then I ended up in the emergency room twice in 2 weeks with extremely high blood pressure 200/100. It was the caffeine, which I didn't realize at the time. I shook for 24 hours each time. The second time,…

You mentioned recovery from surgery and instructions not to lift over 10lbs, no stairs, no cardio. In that case, I would ask the doctor about exercise. Perhaps gentle walking or flexibility exercises? I had a medicine reaction to an antibiotic last year, which gave me severe tendonitis in my arms and shoulders. It lasted…

Many hospitals have free stop smoking classes. I took one and it helped me to stop many years ago. I was mad at myself for smoking and stopped cold one day, but I didn't trust myself and took the stop smoking class for support. It was well worth going.

OP, I'm sorry you're caught up in this problem. Here are some suggestions, which may or may not work for you: (1) Meal prep. Make some nutritious food ahead of time in batches, like casseroles and salads, fruit and vegetable snacks. Make sure your fridge and cupboards are always stocked with food you can easily grab. Buy…

I lost 10 lbs my first month. I started at an obese 177 lbs. It took between 4-5 months to lose 42 pounds, which averages out to a little more than 2 lbs a week. I didn't starve myself, though, so it is what it is. I'm at 135 now, which is a normal weight for me.

Edited to add congrats on quitting smoking! :) That's a major accomplishment. About your husband losing faster than you: men have more lean, fat-burning muscle than women and typically lose faster. http://www.prevention.com/weight-loss/5-reasons-men-lose-weight-faster-than-women "There's truth behind the Popeye and Olive…

Walking outside might help, if you're able to do that. It gets us out of our head and can lift our spirit. Walking is a low impact exercise where you'll burn calories, you're not likely to get hurt, and it's free. We get Vitamin D from the sun (or from a supplement), which can help with low moods.

I hope you aren't serious. Your fruit/yogurt diet sounds high in sugar and low in protein, fat, and fiber, as well as carbs, vitamins and minerals. Sure, you could lose some weight, but you will get malnutrition in exchange. I love fruit and eat a lot of it. I could win a Mrs. Fruit contest. However, I would never make…

More power to the people who have found success with moderation. However, moderation doesn't work for everybody -- it certainly didn't work for me. My own health improved dramatically when I changed what I was eating. Maybe it isn't intended that way, but advice telling the OP who doesn't want to eat sugar and junk food…

Nah, she probably saw the bird desperately flying around and beating itself against the window glass. I once walked by an old townhouse/office, saw a bird trying to escape from a sealed basement window, and told the receptionist. It's not that unusual.

edited out -- didn't realize this is an old thread resurrected from the dead

I cut out most added sweets because I have a medical problem. I tapered off them with a shake with chocolate in it -- that helped me in the beginning. I went through a period of craving and fortunately the cravings went away. I think treats are very important to keep us sane. I tried sugarfree chocolate and other candy,…

This is important about low Vitamin D. I asked for a Vitamin D test this past year and found out it is separate from other bloodwork -- you could request it. Vitamin D deficiency has many symptoms including aches and pains, brain fog, etc.

While I don't have experience with B12 deficiency or anemia, I think your concern about your medicine is valid. I had two medicine reactions in the past year that had alarming symptoms. I looked up your medicine and it does have side effects with all your symptoms and B12 problems. It sounds like a good idea to tell your…

I love salads. I eat a lot of spinach salads (baby spinach leaves) with shredded carrots, a little red cabbage, chickpeas, black olives, cherry tomatoes, green peppers, and cucumbers.

It sounds like you're doing well. I would just ignore those projections. One of my MFP friends used to say the diary predictions were from Zoltar, the fortune telling machine. That was the machine that turned Tom Hanks into an adult in the movie "Big."
-
I don't pay much attention to that statement when I close my diary, except for fun. I don't know about the weight aspect. I lost 40 pounds using MFP last year and reached my goal without problem. I got all kinds of projected 5 week weight statements. Most people vary in what they eat and how they exercise, so the…

Just to warn you, the youtube quality is very poor (at least the version I found). It's a seriously great program. The pilot interviews left me with this weird, wondrous, odd feeling where I wanted to go outside in the middle of the night and look up at the sky to see if I could spot any moving lights.
-
"Seeing is Believing" is flat out awesome. It has everything in it, including the skeptics as well as believers. The best parts are the pilot interviews and the section about a trucker who saw a UFO, called 911, and the interviews with cops who trailed it.
-
Aliens? Yes, absolutely. It would be unbelievable to think that we're the only intelligent (well, intelligence is debatable) lifeforms in this huge universe. I love the ABC News documentary "Seeing is Believing" with the late Peter Jennings. It has great interviews with commercial and military pilots who were very down to…

There are certain trigger foods I don't eat at all -- I don't buy them or try to eat them in moderation. Moderation works for many people but not for me. I stopped eating added sugar sweets over a year ago for that reason. I had cravings for about two weeks, which then went away. I eat fruit instead when I want something…
-
One more thing. I wrote that I don't make complicated recipes, just basic food. There's a mental trap here. If I'm willing to buy crap food, then I sure don't have to plan perfect 4-star meals in order to make my own food. There's anxiety there that we have to be perfect or something isn't worth doing. I make food in…

I have to repeat what other people said. Make time to meal prep and make food ahead of time in batches. That actually saves time later on when you are tired and super busy -- it's great to come home and find the meal is ready and all you have to do is heat it. I work and went back to college (which starts again in 2 weeks,…

I lost 40 lbs using MFP last year and am back to improve some health problems (and keep myself from sliding backwards). I'm eating a plant based diet and would welcome more friends.
