  • First off, you probably need to see a physician about your depression. Once that is under control, you may be able to control your binge eating better. Good luck.
  • I can't say I have an answer, but we lived in for several years, and about the only decent protein we could purchase was chicken. So I know how you feel. Thankfully, I loved fahitas made with chicken and made them all the time. I am not one of those people who obsess over foods (except pasta), so rather than trying to find…
  • Wow! Congratulations. You look amazing and I'll bet you feel great.
  • Thank you for all your insightful replies . . . but they raise yet another question. Here goes... I am 5'7" and my starting weight was 179. As of today (Wed) I have lost 2 lbs. My goal is to lose 26 lbs at 2 lbs a week. My normal diet was comprised of a lot of sweets and pasta. The only thing I've changed is I've cut out…
  • Yogurt and tofu. I'd rather eat dirt.
  • I am the same way with sweets. And my answer is to avoid them altogether. So it would probably work better for you to avoid alcohol completely. Probably not the answer you wanted to hear.
  • Well . . . I am past menopause and it was difficult on many levels, mostly with the weight gain and fatigue. That's when I gained my 26 lbs and I am only now serious about taking it off. My suggestion would be to not wait like I did, but to pay close attention to your diet and exercise while you're going through menopause…
  • 5 lbs. a week sounds impossible for most people. And if you were to lose that amount of weight so quickly, you would probably just gain it right back. Most fitness plans suggest losing 2 lbs. a week, which is what I'm striving for and so far am very comfortable with the 1200 cal per day I have.
  • According to MFP, I am allowed 1200 calories per day. I totally cut out sweets and bread and after doing that I find that I'm only using about 850 calories per day. So I guess that speaks to all the sweets I was eating. 2,000 calories a day sounds like a lot to me, but I guess it depends upon your current weight. I am…
  • Congratulations. That's amazing. I'll bet you feel great.
  • I forgot to mention that I also hate exercising. I mean really, really hate it. I am recovering from an injured back, but as soon as that's okay I will start walking. That's about the only real exercise I think I can stick to. Gyms and workouts are out for me. I'd rather starve myself. lol
  • I just started Tuesday, so I'm new too. I've also been in denial about my weight and am addicted to chocolate. I have gone cold turkey on all chocolate and sweets, except for those nasty fat free Fig Newtons. Yes, they're not great, but they're pretty harmless and tend to take care of my sweet cravings. Good luck.
  • I have a chocolate addiction and I can't just eat once piece. For me, the only solution is not eating any at all. When I want something sweet I eat a couple of fig newtons.... I know.... yuck....but since I don't love them, I don't tend to pig out on them. They're not chocolate, but so far it's working for me.
  • Goddess: I suggest that you take a few photos of yourself from the front and from behind. Then compare them to old photos. I think this will convince you that you're looking good and doing great.
  • Given everything I've read on the subject, Splenda and other sweeteners are not okay because your body doesn't know how to metabolize it. My advice is that if you want sugar, use it - but sparingly - or use honey. Personally, I would NEVER use any artificial sweeteners. I realize Splenda claims it's not artificial, but it…
  • Joan: Yes, my husband has finally convinced me that I must cut out all sweets, which I started doing this week - cold turkey. I am actually not finding it very difficult. I am having difficulty with my pasta cravings, however. I have found that this tracking program works so well and enables me to figure out how to work a…
