  • You're amazing!! Well done, and keep going! It's very rare than anyone comments on my body changes, and I very much understand both being happy they don't, but also wanting some positive feedback/encouragement. I'm cheering for you!
  • Busting this stagnancy!
  • I don't post/engage often enough to get "in" here. And honestly half of that is just that I am intimidated by the speed of new comments coming in and the fact that everyone seems to have personal jokes that I just don't get. I kind of just...meh...gave up. I come check out the threads here on work days when I have not much…

  • I'm gonna get woo'd for this but you've got to love yourself. When you love yourself the way you may love others, you start to want the best for yourself. So it might be hard to do the work, but you'll grit down and get it done because you care about yourself. Just like I make my kids eat well and go outside because I love…
  • I was so excited yesterday that my data updated...but then nothing so far today.
  • Incredible! It's so inspiring to me as a beginning runner :)
  • I think most people likely think that about their running photos? My face always looks puffier when I'm running and for a little while after, I've noticed. But hey, you've gotten 2/3rd of your way to your goal and that's amazing! You can evaluate when you get to your goal and decide if you want to recomp a bit.
  • I would rather be able to run like I can now, shop in any store I wish, keep up with my kids, be able to jump up and go without pain or aches, etc than look a little less wrinkly. What is the point of looking young if I can't *do* anything because of my weight? You lose weight but gain a life!
  • I wondered about this...lol what you do for work? Administrative coordinator for a volunteer peer support program kids? I have two - 6 year old boy and 2.5 year old girl. why are you on mfp? I love tracking my data here and the community has been great too. married? Yep - it's our 8 year wedding anniversary tomorrow,…
  • This is so wonderful! You chose to get it done and you've succeeded! Congrats!!!
  • I started really slowly with walking 3x a week for 20-30 minutes. Then I started adding time, doing it more days. My pace picked up naturally. I knew that 20 minutes of walking at a moderate pace was not going to leave me more tired or feel punishing. What I did notice was that I felt energized. Exercise begat exercise and…
  • My MFP calorie goal to lose 1lb a week has me at 1480 calories per day (set for sedentary). However, I burn on average 500+ calories per day with running, strength, and general NEAT (my heart rate monitor is synced) so I tend to eat a majority of those calories back. I average probably 1700-1900 cals a day. Some days I can…
  • Wow, amazing transformation! I love that you're an avid barefoot trail runner. I feel like that would be so grounding and centering. I always enjoy my runs more when they are away from traffic.
  • I'm headed for flapville myself. Congrats on your weight loss and good luck with your surgical recovery. Also can I ask about your turtle running club photo? Is it a real club, and if so I feel like I should be a part of it haha.
  • This weekend, I ran 5km in 34:41. 6 weeks ago, I ran my first continuous 5 km at 39:49, so I have shaved 5 minutes off my time since that first 5km run.
  • 10 lbs in 2 months is decent! If you continued at that rate of change, you would lose 60lbs in a year. As someone who has lost roughly 2/3rd of that 60lbs, I can tell you, that is a visible and amazing change. Furthermore you may not have to change anything else to continue to lose weight. Just keep going at this rate and…

  • For me: I have lost 37lbs in 9 months through making slow, small changes and building on them. My nutrition isn't perfect, but I can survive my mistakes because my exercise and nutrition has some flexibility and fudge room built in. In May I tried to lose 7 lbs in 4 weeks to meet a certain weight goal. Near the end of my…
  • I love NEAT! I wear a step counter to track at least that portion of my NEAT. I take the stairs more now, especially at work (3rd floor). Walk my son to school rather than driving - often I carry my toddler on my back in a carrier to do so. Go outdoors to play with the kids after supper. Pick away at household chores…
  • I never give it a second thought when people tell me I've lost weight or look great - I know, it's on purpose that I've lost weight and I'm trying to look great. If I know that somebody has been working hard on their fitness I'll tell them that they look so healthy and strong/fit. Or that their hard work is apparent.
  • When I was young and before I started putting on weight, I was fairly confident in my body shape and really enjoyed that I was fancied so much. I'm enjoying earning back the ability to feel a bit vain/hot. I also love it every time I see someone I don't particularly like, and I don't have to think about what they must…
  • I didn't like feeling like I took up too much space. I also didn't like how things would dig in even if they fit properly - bras, belts, etc all had more chafing points when I was obese.
  • Feel free to add me! I have two kids - 6 year old boy and 2.5 year old girl. I'm 32. I'm down 37 lbs and have 23 left to get to what I feel will be a solid "good enough" weight to stabilize. My reasons for losing weight are very similar to what you said about wanting to set a good example - and I *am* more active with my…
  • I don't find it really affects my weight that much. Sometimes I will stay the same or go up half a pound, but then lose a chunk a few days into my period. My net trend by the end of the period is that I have lost weight overall. My resting heart rate goes up 5-10 beats per minute in the 5 days leading up to cycle start, so…
  • We knew of each other from attending the same youth camp as teenagers. Back then, as teens, I couldn't say I had any attraction to him whatsoever. In my early twenties I was on a dating site, and after a few really awful strike-outs, I had decided to just quit dating for awhile to focus on school and personal development.…
  • This is probably a matter of perception. As others have said, as you lose in one area, it came another area look a lot different in proportion. This is why measurements are such a strong progress indicator. I recommend taking some measurements today and then you won't have to wonder anymore.
  • 1. I packed a gym bag for my crazy work weekend away (30 hours in 2.5 days) and followed through by running on Sunday morning. 2. A colleague I hadn't seen since September told me I looked fantastic and it was clear I had lost a lot of weight.
  • First of all, BRAVO for still getting up super early and doing strength training. Sounds like a lot of people missed that you ARE getting up and working out in SOME form. I totally get not having the mojo for cardio in the morning. I pack a gym bag and do cardio on my lunch break. I eat at my desk either a little while…
