Doh! Stupid me, I could have told you before. There is a way to reset your streak OR set it to any given number, which you could have used to not lose it...just in case. That's when I need a nudge to wake me up...uh oh

Did you get doctor's approval to do that? If so, yes you just get out and walk but don't add too soon too early. Your doctor/physio can advise how much they feel you should do.
