I do a 12 hour fast. Every night I eat dinner and I stop eating. I have a mini chocolate (44 calories) at most. It's not easy, but it works for me.

...and it's a shame. So many of us are deficient in magnesium. I consider it more important than potassium. The latest government study shows a staggering 68% of Americans do not consume the recommended daily intake of magnesium. Even more frightening are data from this study showing that 19% of Americans do not consume…

The diet you can keep for life! So make it a healthy one.

Question: I once read never to heat protein powder. Something about it damaging amino acids. Any truth to that?

Doctors = They really don't know that much about nutrition. You are better off researching yourself on reliable websites. I believe they are extremely healthy. I have a grandma that cooks them in a pool of bacon grease and tops with it a lot of salt and cheese. A serving could possibly be 600 calories. Not including the…

I would hate to see a 1.3 pound burrito.

....maybe not an entire box of cereal. MFP shows a box of Cinnamon Toast Crunch at 5,850 calories.

I need to understand what gets weighed when traveling. I'm thinking only produce could be weighed, and for that, a guesstimate would be ok. Meals at restaurants that do not have caloric counts on websites would be unreliable to weigh. * I travel and would really love to see if this is useful. Many foods I eat in travel are…

But, if I eat 200 calories of Jello, I will stay hungry. If I eat 200 of chicken, it will satiate me. Eat lots of lean protein, nuts, seeds, greens, beans, and load up on all veggies.
-
If I had to eat only 1200 calories a day I would go insane. You have no idea how little that is. Especially for someone your height. Weight that you lose slowly, is weight you can keep off for life.
-
Count those calories. Consider getting a food scale if you don't have one. Just because something is healthy does not mean it won't pile on the weight

Don't be tempted to take potassium pills. They can be extremely dangerous. Use GOOGLE. Milk is high in potassium and magnesium. I believe that Americans are even more deficient in magnesium.

Get a food scale at walmart. Log every single bite. You won't believe how well this works. Just don't give up. I focused on protein, fiber, and sodium.

3) I have never found whey to cause hunger/cravings for food. If cutting out all dairy, make sure to keep an eye on calcium.

@komm That is a great explanation. Deprivation and restriction will cause cravings. Makes sense. On the flip side, seeing a donut as a bad carb really and truly helps me stay away. If, and only if, I think of it as bad for my health. If I see it simply as a treat that I can't have, I will crave it. So I now understand.…

Daily. This teaches me many things. Including that sodium can really make the numbers jump the next day. Does not cause me anxiety to see a higher number. I take it as learning.

Do you have 4 or 5 lb weights at home? Put them on your home scale and see what they weigh. If you dare, you can even go to walmart, go pick up a couple of 5 lb weights and put them on that walmart scale. Did you know a gallon of milk weighs about 8.6 pounds? I bet you the walmart scale is not calibrated correctly.

I quit a job because of all the junk food they bring in. It was a nurses office. Horrible atmosphere... all that junk on a daily basis. So hard to resist.

Don't forget to check your other answers since you asked twice. http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/10597397/night-time-munchies#latest

I do a 12 hour fast. I have dinner and I force myself to quit eating for 12 hours. Have you ever fasted? It's not easy, but it could work for you too. (I do allow a mini chocolate after dinner).

If you are older, you are smarter. Go climb in your car and go to walmart and get a food scale. Weighing food really made this place awesome. Stick to this and you will win. Making sure you get enough protein in older age is important. I aim for 70 grams of protein a day.

Don't do diets. Ex: Keto is a diet since studies show that people cannot do it long term. Short term fixes never work for the long run. Focus on healthy foods and you'll see that everything falls into place. Get a food scale at walmart and it will make this place rock. Tip: A sweet potato is healthy AND it's a carb. No…

That documentary is full of lies. Made by animal rights activists that will not stop until they save every animal on earth. Think "throwing paint on fur coats people". They are just doing it by video. Propaganda. So, if you want a piece of grilled chicken breast, go ahead and eat it. You won't die of cancer. If you want a…

Get a food scale at walmart.

I recently bought Almond butter. Delicious. Not even close to peanut butter. Try that for variety? Don't add the jelly (it won't need it).

I still can't get low carb cookies out of my head. So I googled it. Walmart showed a low carb cookie. 320 calories each. I can see there is a difference between going low carb and counting calories. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Low-Carb-Chocolate-Chip-Protein-Cookie/657675885 The print is really small, but I believe the…

How about home cooked grilled chicken with a side of veggies?
-
If you don't like veggies such as spinach and kale putting them in a blender will not help. I've tried. In a way, it's harder to drink the greens than just to eat them in a salad. The reason blending is healthier than juicing is b/c you get the fiber in the greens. In a cheap blender that fiber will not dissolve. You would…

What is your protein goal? You might not need 200grams a day.

This place will teach you how to use real food to lose weight. Better than VISA, priceless. I use a protein powder from walmart for days when I'm short on protein. Cost about .67 cents a day.
