As there are many opinions on this site and most are really helpful this is my 2 cents. First of all as stated above you need to make sure you log EVERYTHING that goes into your body. That's the most important step. Make sure you list your height, weight, and goal weight and MFP will make a daily calorie goal for you. In…

Use to run 5k around 18 min but then shattered my ankle and 2 surgeries later I'm running a 5k around 25min. From experience I can tell you the only way to become a better runner and drop your 5k running time is to run. Try to add a mile a week so say you're running 10 miles a week go for 11 the next then 12 and so on…

I use syntha 6 or musclepharm. Appropriately used protein powder can do great things wether you are cutting or gaining. Gaining have a protein shake in the morning with breakfast or at night before bed and a shake after your workout. For cutting I like to have a protein shake for breakfast as a meal replacement. Although…

I have ITBS in my right leg, quad stretches and squats seem to help me. Also a good compression wrap.

I had to have a third surgery to dig out the bone fragments they missed and lengthen my Achilles. Now I'm dealing with post traumatic arthritis as well which you may even experience at some point if not already. High energy impact on the ankle are prone to arthritis. Good luck with the Clouds, I absolutely love them and…

Yup you definitely have it worse than me lol I shattered my ankle and most the pieces were too small to affix so they just took them out and the one screw the did put in broke so now I just have half a broken screw in my ankle but I was looking at the clouds and I'm definitely getting them next thank you
-
Another question lol which model do you have?
-
Also do they run true to size?
-
Thank you, most helpful since you are in a similar situation as me. I checked out the On Runners and they look awesome. I think I want to try these out!! Do you use the quick laces or traditional tie laces?
-
It didn't get the name dreadmill for no reason lol it was 91 here at 10am Saturday and I went on a 6 miler it wasn't pleasant by no means
-
For $30 a year the app Endomondo is great and creates custom training plans based on your needs and current weekly mileage. It also links up with MFP which is a plus
-
Same here might give it a try on my next long run
-
So do the claytons run true to size? They don't sell the hoka brand here in Japan so I'll have to order them I wear a size 10
-
I live in Japan in the countryside so I don't have anything near me but a sports store and the staff are clueless about anything but location of products in the store lol
-
i have a few and my favorite is the one one my ribs of my kids initials in blocks
-
Thanks I will definitely check it out and yeah dexter was one of my favorite tv shows back in the day
-
This is what has caused me such a set back in my running from years ago still only have about 50% range of motion
-
The Hola One is actually what I been looking at. Have you had experience with them? I hear they run about a half size smaller
-
Oh yes that's exactly why I went away from asics that I use to wear. We have a sports store here that's where I bought my last 2 pair but the staff are just there for a paycheck and not knowledgeable whatsoever
-
Saucony and asics but I have tried them and just not the same I need more support now
-
There's no running store near me here in Japan. Use to be a semi pro runner years ago fastest recorded 5k was 17:46 and 10k was 40:12. That was years ago and now I have had 2 surgeries on my ankle and a bad back thanks to a motorcycle wreck so my running has changed a lot.

I been thinking about trying out podcasts maybe I will zone out to it like watching a movie and forget I'm running and before I know it I'll be 10 miles out before turning back lol
-
There's not even a gym near me so I don't have to worry about running on a dreadmill lol and I have the Powerbeats 3 I just don't turn them up loud so I can hear ok, I just don't run on busy streets
-
Here in Japan you don't need to worry so much about getting hit. At least where I'm at in the countryside, kids even walk to school from the first grade up here. Also the trails I mainly run cars are not allowed on it's just for bicycles and walkers/runners so safety is not an issue here. I've tried running without…

Way to go!!!

Is there any specific "running" podcast you ladies listen too? I've tried to find a good podcast but I'm new to the podcast scene so not sure what's good and what's not.

I'd love to try out the garmin forerunner 235 but I need a few new pair of shoes first, the watch can wait lol
-
I actually just purchased a year subscription to the premium so I can take advantage of the training plan, seems pretty good from what I seen. Start week 1 day 1 tomorrow on my plan
-
Sounds good I might try that

Not at all, pace doesn't matter as much as actually making the distance. But to increase pace and distance you definitely need to have a training plan that incorporates interval and endurance runs as well as long runs and tempo runs
