  • I'm tiny up top compared to below the waist. I'm barely a B cup so I can do girls XL tank tops. Bottom half.... size 10 jeans starting to get loose. Stupid Latina genetics.
  • Most of us are trying to lose weight! I decided to look this up: they generally range from 100 to well over 300 calories per serving. (The g-string is 2 servings....don't know why, but okay). And very little nutrition.
  • Set a new Total weight lifted by my triceps today. 22,870lbs in total.
  • There's a fine line between compliment and insult. Someone making a specific comment such as "wow, your traps are looking great" while I'm at the gym working on them is fine, but just "skinny", not always appropriate.
  • My doctor told me something about "ideal weight" after being significantly overweight or obese for more than 5 years. It's no longer that accurate. Weight training slowly increases bone density. Carrying an extra 100lbs for a decade, was in itself weight training, especially for my legs. So my "ideal" weight shifted up…
  • If you are truly sick: 1. Stay away from gyms/pools, don't get everyone else sick. 2. Slow down, let your body heal. You can make things worse by wearing your body down so it can't fight off the illness as well. 3. If you "need to do something" go for an easy walk outdoors. The fresh air will feel good and you're not…
  • I bought an amazingly good one in spring, from a failed New Year's resolution. $3500 NordicTrack with all the bells and whistles, commercial quality. Bought for $300. Spring as fall are the best times to find amazing deals on barely used equipment (New Year's buys of Christmas money sales of stuff that isn't used).
  • ^^^^^All day. 5lbs might not seen that heavy until you try to slow down or "hold", such as with lateral dumbbell raises.. holding for 30 seconds at a time, 5lbs gets pretty heavy!!!
  • I've had "plateaus" last almost a month, then drop 8lbs in a few days (losing that much fat is not humanly possible without surgery or loss of limb in a few days) water retention can be rather frustrating. Give yourself a month.
  • I prefer a regular gym. 1. They are a cheaper 2. I have specific goals that are better suited for a regular gym 3. I don't like "class" settings, I'm quite antisocial when working out.
  • Either/or. Any decent Dr or physiotherapist will refer you to the other one if that's what you need. I'd choose whichever one you can get to first.
  • My sports bra is always clingy.... Even when dry, they are kinda supposed to fit really snug to prevent a lot of movement. Now some of my tanks fit snug so they aren't a problem, it's the looser ones that I have issues with. I try to only wear the baggy ones on leg days where upper body ROM isn't an issue.
  • My advice. If it's a really nice machine where you can input your stats, and shows calories burned, just use that. If not, I always lower the "calories burned" by 10%. So if MFP of a generic machine that shows calories but has no way to input stats (how can that be even close to accurate) lists me as burning 400 calories,…
  • If they are nice, donate them to women's shelters. A lot of ladies there are getting away from some really bad situations and quite literally have only the clothing they were wearing. It'll help someone out, it gets rid of your old clothes without throwing them away, and it's easier to do because you know they are going to…
  • If they left it there, there is a very simple way to avoid being tempted. Throw it away.
  • It's pretty much crap. Think real carefully: could you be on Herbalife stuff for the rest of your life? Because as soon as you quit and go back to your normal habits, the weight will come right back on. You have to be willing to change your lifestyle, to true change. The only thing that ever works long term is to change…
  • Start with buying a digital food scale, you really do need to know what (how much) you are truly eating. Learn how to use it and for a while, weigh EVERYTHING you eat. After a while you'll stop having to weigh everything and use common sense for ultra low calorie foods (raw spinach has 7 calories per 30g ~ a cup), where…
  • Eating fewer calories than I use is the only thing that's work for me long term. As far as "diets" are concerned, most fail long term simply because they aren't designed to be forever. Now if a specific diet is also what you need for an underlying medical condition (diabetes, Celiac disease, food allergies), that's…
  • Oh dear yes, all of this. Ordering a salad, because I want a salad and get looks of "why are you ordering a salad, you can eat whatever you want, you're not fat". Clothing, well, they do make most things in an extra small. Or we could just shop in the children's section, it's cheaper anyways. And who knows, you'll just…
  • And beer. Why do I have so many beer ads, I don't like most beers, at all! Now wine, that's a different story.
  • And some foods are rather rediculous to weigh every time, like arugala or spinach or kale. If your off by 1/2 cup that's a whole 3 calories. Not something to be worried about. The eyeball method is just fine.
  • Oops, yeah USDA. I agree, it's great for a scientist of finding which apples to use for space exploration where weight is absolutely critical. It's extensive, just not very practical for most people. The database here is mostly good. If I can't find it, I'll either research something on my own, or use the higher calorie…
  • It's very similar to yogurt, usually sold in the same section.
  • I live in 90% gym clothes. The other 10% fall into a mix of lazy/punk/it's clean/it mostly fits.
  • Yep. Some of my motivation lies in proving a bunch of motherkittens wrong.
  • At your weight it is nearly impossible to lose 6lbs in a week, probably just water retention and loss. So the Aug 18 weight is less water retention than normal.
  • You cannot out train a bad diet. No matter how much you work out, nutrition is key. You need to be accurate in food logging. Also, how long has it been since you lost anything, if it's less than 3 weeks: don't worry. As long as you're in a calorie deficit, you are losing weight. You're probably just retaining water.
  • Eat at a calorie deficit to lose weight. Eat a nutritional diet at a calorie deficit and you will lose weight and be healthier. Eat healthy at a deficit and incorporate exercize, you'll lose weight, feel better and look better. You cannot out train a bad diet.
  • None of the above. I just listen to and do what my trainer tells me to do, no matter how sadistic or insane I think he may be at times. I am slowly getting to where I want to be, so it's working. And there is constant adjustments based on my feedback.
