  • * I stood behind a 13-ish year old girl and her mom ordering at Panera while the young girl was absolutely horrid and terrible to the worker. I was irked with the mom for condoning the behavior and the girl for not having common decency. * People who can't 'read the room' in regards to volume level. I have a desk mate that…
  • <3 I thought my car was broke an it seems to be fine, huge relief. <3 I don't have any cravings today. Just need to avoid the after-work binge. <3 The weather is finally starting to cool down in Iowa for Fall. Love it.
  • - I'm freezing, like all the time - If you have to dress professional like I do everyday, maintaining pants that fit can be a challenge lol - Saying 'No' to peer pressure is harder than saying 'No' to food - My husband, "I can feel your ribs", was the best compliment I think he's ever given me LOL I'm starting to see my…
  • First, good for you! That's a really challenging situation when you don't necessarily have your spouse's support but I truly hope you stick with it so you become example for your loved ones. Sometimes I think when we say "no thanks" or get something not as "fun" off the menu people tend to get self-conscious about their…
  • No, I just watched the documentary again and thought I'd see who in the MFP community had tried it. I didn't see how old the thread was nor do I see why that matters if the conversation is still relevant since people still juice? Brag about my juicer? :D I was comparing it to the outrageous $200-400+ juicers that are…
  • I can't believe how irked some people get over juicing. I agree it isn't a sustainable meals choice but I do believe the fruits/veggies are a great boost for your system! I do a 7 day cleanse sporadically. Usually to mix up my meals or because buying bags of fruit and greens is SO much easier than meal planning. :D :D I…
  • Yes sarjenki! I use to live like that too and that's why I think I hated fitness and nutrition for so long. That extreme all or nothing attitude just left me failing constantly because I couldn't live up to my own expectations. It's all about balance! I had a a bowl of chkn/veggies and a pumpkin bar today, no regrets. :)
  • You keep jumping back in the arena after you fall off the wagon! I've been on a two week break because I've been traveling, stressed at work, lacking sleep... I refuse to live in guilt because I needed a break, I told myself as long as I'm not putting weight back on I'm alright. Friday at 5pm, I'm going for a run so I can…
  • My husband has been gone for 2 months and I'll get to see him again for a wedding late October. I have a gorgeous black slim midi dress that I would love to surprise him with. I've lost 20lbs since he left but I've been stuck at 210 with no motivation. My birthday is Oct 6 and I want to break 200 for me, then be under 195…
  • I'm getting bored with my meal planning food and therefore not overeating in calories but eating junk. So I've hit a plateau and haven't been motivated. I've been 10 lbs from 200 for two weeks and over the weekend I went up 2lbs so that was kind of a kick in the butt. Setting my sights on drinking A LOT of water this week…
  • I absolutely love this thread, the whole app is worth just this thread for me! Love motivated and positive people! I just FINALLY broke out of a two-week plateau around 220. Seriously, I have no idea what was going on with my body because I was drinking more water, working out more, and killin' it on my meal planning.…
  • Graduated college 30 lbs heavier than when I started and I wasn't in the best shape to begin with. I started a new job, moved to a new city, and as i was "reinventing my normal" I decided now was the perfect time. I'm ready to work on who I've wanted to be for a long time.
  • True, technically it is "lethal" if you die from the flu. I guess I meant the probability of it being lethal is so small that it doesn't justify the risk of taking the flu vaccination. Something like the measles vaccination completely eradicated death from measles except for in rare cases where people didn't take the…
  • You have to look at numbers with context, meaning compare it to the US population or other leading causes of death and flu deaths are like nothing. I consider "lethal" to be something I should actually be worried about dying from, like heart disease or cancer.
  • I can't really dispute numbers with you here because I Google'd a number as I'm sure you did. However, even in your worst case scenario of 500,000 ppl dying from flu out of the US population of 326,474,013. That's still less than 0.153% of deaths resulting from flu and we don't even know if flu was the sole cause of death.…
  • Kid you not, I was so excited to see these last night at Target!! I compared the Regular Stuffed to the Thins though and they are almost exactly the same. Really, there's like no benefit to the Thins. Just get yourself Regular Stuffed and enjoy your cheat
  • Partner A doesn't have to 'change' for partner B.....but when she's struggling with something like sweets its not unreasonable for her to ask him to support her and keep that stuff to himself. Maybe not forever but at least while she's battling serious cravings for that stuff. "Be an adult" is a ridiculous justification,…
  • This is great  My husband and I cut a lot of the junk and sweets from our cupboards in the beginning of our weight loss journey because it was SO tempting to cheat when you're in the initial sugar/salt detox phase (first 2ish weeks). Now we are about 2.5 months in and I have a much better grip on the implications…
  • Flu shots coddle your immune system. There are vaccinations that are indisputable (measles, hepatitis, meningitis, etc.) because contracting them is commonly fatal. Then there are band-aid vaccinations like the flu shot where roughly 36k die/year from the flu which is usually complemented by other complications. Not…
  • curve ball....retired yacht owner
  • Yasssss. Very rarely it might be medically necessary but it absolutely disgusts me how easily doctors will approve this as necessary so the person can WLS covered by insurance. My sister-in-law used this as a cop out for eating healthier and exercise because it was a faster fix than learning about her body and nutrition.…
  • "You need other weight-loss friends to motivate you and be accountable." No. I love talking nutrition and enjoy this MFP community but when I've worked out with my husband or friend in the past and they try to "motivate" me in the gym or make comments about what I'm eating....I want to go Game of Thrones on their a** and…
  • ME TOOO!! I get judged so hard for this by nugget police
  • Dark chocolate graham crackers with sea salt from Trader Joes. Truly the best of both worlds and only 50 calories a square so my typical cheat. Otherwise salty for sure, specifically a soft pretzel and cheese with course salt. :p :p
  • I have a desk job, not currently working out but walking, and trying to create a deficit for gradual weight loss. Calories- I usually do 300 bfast, 250 lunch, 150 snack, 300 dinner. Lots of veggies/fruit/protein and daily fiber and general vitamin supplements. I'm currently down 12 lbs in the last 30 days and never hungry,…
  • Soft pretzels and nacho cheese :p
  • Down 2.2 lbs this week, mini goal is not to destroy my progress over the weekend.
