I read this whole thread looking for exactly this information. I, too, have my Fitbit Alta synced to MFP. Although I have been accumulating about 12,000 intentional steps, they are not strenuous. They are from marching in place or around my house or walking around a store. Sometimes I do jog in place. I get a approximately…

I agree - I have been totally inactive for about 10 months from an injury and subsequent surgery. That combined with inactivity and overeating led to muscle atrophy and fat gain. :(

I was wondering about logging or not logging the elliptical exercise too. Presumably Fitbit is counting each elliptical motion as a step. For me, that would be a slower pace and fewer steps than I would walk. Does Fitbit recognize the extra effort put forth with the elliptical?

I downloaded the iPhone app yesterday. I'm not sure I like it as it seems to interfere with the desktop version. For instance, I couldn't finish the day on the desktop last night. I thought MFP wanted me to eat more of my exercise calories, so I did. Still wouldn't let me finish. However, this morning, I logged onto the…

I don't think anyone can guess at your body fat. Just today I had a fitness health assessment. My BMI was 25. something, which indicated me sort of overweight. However, my fat composition was 39. something.

I have had this problem for many years. I wake up with an urgency to eat. It's not just being hungry. Folks who don't do this, probably don't understand the feeling. My choice of food seems to always contain carbs. One doctor I discussed this with suggested I need the serotonin from the carbs to get back to sleep. Anyway,…

After my shoulder surgery my prescription was for a narcotic plus ibuprofen. At one of my dr. appts I mentioned the fluid buildup to my dr. He said ibuprofen can cause that. He then prescribed the narcotic plus Tylenol. So, my answer would be, "No, acetaminophen does not have the same effect, based upon the doctors…

This was very helpful to me. Thank you. I didn't mean to sound snippy in my original post, but from a couple of responses apparently I did. I apologize.

So, 2 days after your date you were 12 pounds heavier than before your date. Hmmmm - a puzzle, but a couple of thoughts. I agree with this. I retained LOTS of water during the last couple of hot months I was in Florida. I returned to NY in July and much of the fluid retention decreased (not the fat gain though - lol). I…

Mine is sedentary as well. Presently I'm not logging any additional exercise other than my fitbit. I'm managing to log about 12,000 steps. I eat back most of my fitbit adjustment.

The only way mine syncs is through my iPhone. From there it transfers to my computer. I can't get it to sync on my computer.

I had shoulder surgery in January and was on a regular schedule of Dr. prescribed ibuprofen. I retained lots of fluid.

My calorie limit is 1200 also and I eat back almost all of my Fitbit adjustment. I've only been on MFP for 7 days, but I've lost 2 1/2 lbs.

I am stunned an inspired by these before/after pictures. Awesome job everyone.

I know what you mean about giving up. During my injury recovery period I was trying to cut calories. Because of my physical limitations, I couldn't exercise. I would actually wake up in the middle of the night and eat. My food of choice was carbs. The next day I would start again, rinse and repeat to eat more food during…

I'm sure pre-diabetes or diabetes is another issue regarding carbs. From my experience, the carbs need to be monitored according to what your glucose readings are, either daily or from meal to meal. Also from my experience, if I have a heavy carb meal (like pizza), I can work those carbs off with exercise.

A few years ago, I belonged to a gym and hired a personal trainer. The gym had some sort of freebee program and did fitness assessments. I think at the time I weighed something like 135 lbs. I'm female and 5'5". I looked thin to most folks. However, my fat to muscle composition indicated I was obese. That inspired me to…

I did this video years ago when it was a VCR tape. I LOVED it. I used it when I was low on energy and couldn't face the thought of a vigorous workout. I just happened to find it on YouTube. Now that I'm MANY years older, I plan to use it again. Oh - It's a Cher workout. Guess that shows my age.…

I have to limit my carbs for diabetic reasons. When I was first diagnosed a couple of years ago, I was only slightly overweight. I was scared because of the diagnosis and drastically reduced my carbs. I don't believe I was in keto. However, at the time I was exercising regularly. I had a personal trainer, not for weight…

I gained 30-35 lbs in 10 months. I hurt my shoulder in September and could not participate in usual activities (golf, swimming, pickleball (like tennis for old people), I had rotator cuff surgery in January and couldn't even walk for exercise because my gait was off with the sling. I couldn't even ride a bicycle until…

I'm 155 and I'm getting about 400-425 for approximately 12,000 steps. I believe this lesser adjustment is because of my age (67) and have a lower metabolism. Also, I pretty much just march around the house to get those steps, so it's not very strenuous. I've been eating those calories and in 6 days have lost only 6 ounces…

I'm 5'5" and MFP calculated 1200 calories. Although I set my goal at losing 2 pounds per week, MFP gave me the 1200 minimum, because otherwise it would be too low. I'm eating back most of my exercise calories and believe I'm am under my TDEE. I'm going to take a closer look at that. MFP estimates I will lose only .5 lbs a…

Actually, I don't really know how to measure the accuracy. I really like it and I depend on it.

HI folks. I'm almost 68 and wanting to lose 35 pounds.

Great job! Welcome.
