  • Concert got cancelled at the literal last minute. Its been raining, and the rain got so heavy that there was flooding everywhere. Even the venue was becoming a lake. So they had to cancel. Driving back to the hotel took about an hour (we were only about 2 miles from the venue) because of so much surface flooding. I went to…
  • Hey all I'm doing Hal intermediate 1. I was going to do the novice plan but it was too easy. I'm training for a HM at the moment nd of the June, so right now it's just base building. Lots of hill repeats and tempo runs etc. Loving it. Though not looking forward to the hills this morning! I'm looking forward to this…
  • Hey Hugs @shanaber for needing surgery. It looks like a challenging one. I basically took this week off. Wasn't able to run as I was with the kids alone for the rest of the week, and my calf muscles were so sore after the hike I wasn't able to anyway. So finally got out today for. 6.5k run. I've started a Hal Higdon plan.…
  • Non running day today, instead a big hike to a local tarn that is a beautiful reflecting spot for our mountain. I managed an almost perfect postcard picture To think In March last year I made it to the summit of that mountain! Today was about 2600 feet of vert. Not running lol but the first 2hrs my heart rate was at a…
  • So i decided I needed a diet break foe a day yesterday. I just ate what I wanted, tracked for an idea but not stress about it. It was almost 3 weeks of deficit eating and I was feeling a bit blah. And I ate some pretty high calorie stuff I would normally not have. It was nice having the break and reminded me why I'm doing…
  • @quilteryoyo oh I may not have posted here. He got a job in June, executive officer for Bowls Taranaki. Bowls being a sport. And taranaki being our region.
  • @shanaber sorry I should have been clearer, I have a mirena IUD which has the wonderful side effect, if you are lucky, of reducing or even stopping your periods. I'm only 40 so yeah hopefully not perimenopausal yet. I love your goals. @runs_on_espresso awww I've been following you too. Insta can be such a good place to be.…
  • I ran a 6k sprint session today and it felt amazing. And I think my VO2 max is finally on the upward trend - it was 48 in April when I got covid. I'm feeling fantastic. Its such a good feeling to be on the improvement. Tomorrow is a long run. And I'm really looking forward to it. I'm finding the joy of running again.
  • Hugs @runs_on_espresso many of us are in that same boat. I'm 19 days into sticking to it, after hitting half way into the weight loss I originally had. I nearly cried. @shanaber I hope the rains ease. We finally have summer back! I'm doing well overall. Have had a stall this week. Not worried because I did some strength…
  • Night out was great. Nice to have a good laugh. Shift again today and tomorrow. Supposed to do a recovery run, I think I'll just have a rest day. About to take the kids bowling!
  • Wow I forgot how chatty we can be, I missed 3 days and over 90 comments! I skimmed, congrats @martaindale! I'm doing well, just plodding along. My watch only has me doing base runs atm. I assume its because I've done some shifts and a couple of nights on call so I'm a bit tired. I have increased the distance to 5k anyway…
  • @AlphaHowls biggest hugs. Dementia is one of the worst diseases I have ever seen. I work with dementia patients all the time and my heart always goes out to the family who support them. I want to say don't be ashamed, and I remember that shame well. I am also excellent at hiding my eating so no one can see it. And the…
  • Morning all. Busy day at work yesterday. We usually have 5 staff on the floor per day, but 2 were sick (dreaded C) and another was just sick. So we are going to be short staffed all week. Yay. At least we will only be 2 down not 3 for the rest of the week. Had call last night. 2 call outs so am feeling sleepy today but not…
  • Morning. We'll successfully got through last night. I even made my lunch when I got home for today. Planning and prep definitely helps, though not always lol
  • Morning all. Very very wet here today, still warm though (I'm in NZ for people not in the know lol). I worked shift last night (3pm - 11pm) and have work at 10am this morning, so was up at 8 to go out. I did contemplate staying in bed, my catch phrase is "I never regret a run" so out I went. Watch suggested 31 min at 7:45…
  • Day 11 today. I've been on evening shift for 2 days and I really notice how it affects my hunger levels. I'm always so hungry when doing latest (3pm - 11pm). So today was a slightly snack day, though I managed to keep it pretty light. I have made sure I have snacks for later tonight so I don't raid the vending machine lol
  • A easy 31mins today. I've been following my watch for the last couple of weeks and it's great, but now I want to do more 5k. I miss a 5k run. So I think im going to continue to do what watch says and just increase the distance to 5k.
  • I'm a morning runner, up. Clothes on, drink of water and out the door. Takes me 15 minutes. I find if I faff around I end up not going. Basically I'm not willing to get up any earlier if I don't have to. I used to always eat first - a banana - but got lazy and don't bother. Back when I was doing long runs I would have…
  • @CMorning99 that sounds like a lot of complicated and annoying things going on for you! Roll on end of work. Day 10 of eating well and exercising today. I keep thinking it would be amazing to do 364 days but I know that is impossible with my lifestyle. There will be occasional days of indulgence etc. It I keep to…
  • Morning all. Went out and did 31 min base run today. Definitely noticing that it's getting way easier. I try running on HR when not doing pace and when doing base runs I try keeping in the green. Definitely staying green longer on these runs. I keep checking to see if my VO2 is going up at all, slightly increasing though…
  • Welcome @AlphaHowls I also have that same beast that I just let roam unchecked the last half of 2022. I'm day 9 today of the beast back in the cage and it feels good. I had an extremely stressful 2022 looking back and I'm sure that's my biggest trigger. Currently no stress and feeling great. Now to figure out how to deal…
  • Morning all. Lovely night last night. Got Thai food and ate at home in peace and quiet without squabbling kids or having to nag them to get things done. Was fantastic. No plans for today, I'll go for a gentle run soon - I've left it pretty late so can only be gentle as its getting pretty hot here. Then will probably just…
  • Hey all! Thanks for the welcome backs. @polskagirl01 covid sux so much. Ironically I think my "cure" was getting the flu. I had Covid in april and it took 2 months before I could really run again. And I so so slowly got a bit better until September, when I got a flu. Ans this flu was a doozy. I was literally in bed for 4…
  • Hey everyone. Can I come back? I've missed you all a lot. I've had the year from hell really. Like @polskagirl01 I have done nothing but struggle since covid. I had it in April, though now I finally feel like im getting my fitness back. I ran a 5k yesterday in 30:08 and though it literally took everything I had to do that…
  • Morning guys, and Happy New Year! It's officially 2023 here lol. @quilteryoyo definitely a challenging year for everyone @shanaber yes there were 2 mediators, however I handled it well myself. Each tu. E she interrupted me I would stop and ask if I could please finish what I was trying to say. Or I would just let her…
  • Hey all. I dissappeared again. Life got out of hand and just insane. Students all passed and are now all working with us. Harrassment - had the meeting which was basically me sitting there while she complained about me for almost 30 minutes, followed by every time I tried to talk she would interrupt me. So didn't go great…
  • Hey all. Finally got out for a run today. I have had absolutely no mojonin the last couple of weeks. I set my alarm, and decided I'd do whatever I wanted when I woke up. And I felt like a run so off I went. Watch suggested 50 min slow so that's basically what I did. Ran 30 min before taking a few walk breaks. Felt good.…
  • Start right now. Don't plan to start tomorrow, of after x event because something always comes up. Start right now.
  • @CMorning99 I was lucky and got Monday off work. Haha. Yay for no tear! The lack of being able to download is silly and annoying! I kinda fell off the rails again cause I did call again on Tuesday night, ended up with Wednesday off. Been so tired this week. I got up this morning and did a HIIT run, walk/run intervals. It…
  • Well my weekend went to pot. I was on call and basically worked a night shift Saturday night. I was so tired and therefore hungry. Sigh. I'm giving myself a few more days cause I'm on call again tonight. And again the coming weekend. Oh well that's life.
