  • @quilteryoyo that sounds awful! Hope it clears up fast. Day 1 went well. I was alone in the house and just logged etc. Felt good. Today I'm mixing things up and getting out of my exercise rut. I'm starting an 8 week programme. Fortunately that means today is a rest day as I'm on call this weekend.
  • @shanaber the scheduling happened because I ended up picking up lots of weekends and evening shifts because no one else would, and they would get the calls because I was already on shift. The schedulers have been nice and given me 2 call weekends in a row, and have made an effort to spread things around a bit more. I've…
  • Hey guys. I really miss you and want to come back. 2022 has just been one struggle after another. I finally got to the point I could run again after covid and I got a cold. It was nasty and hit me hard. Then I recovered from that and had built up running again and got the flu. And it hit HARD! I was in bed for 4 days,…
  • Hey all. @swenson19 love you looking at sewing machines, I currently have a brother I really like. I keep thinking about upgrading it, as it can't handle thick projects, but since I'm now deep into masters it will be years before I see again I think. I had to put it away to clear my desk as a writing desk. I've been going…
  • Hey all. Been at a study day today that I organised. It went very well! Good talks. Now going to a friends for food and drink. Cannot wait to just relax. Been a long time sinc I've gone out to a friends like this. My mum has the kids Then birthday party tomorrow. Needless to say this weekend is a bust. Oh well
  • Ahh been on call the last two nights. Yesterday was awful, had no sleep at all and was sooo tired. Last night was better, no call outs. Also, I'm organising a study day for Saturday (tomorrow) so had about 1000 things to think about. Eaten everything sigh. Yes cake porn! Didn't make it for her birthday, but for her party…
  • Wow just seen the new dashboard! I like!
  • Morning guys! @CMorning99 that's annoying about the 6k. Can you fight the extra fee or is it just not worth it? And another year eh? Makes sense with the house stuff. I never thought about retirement effecting your insurance. What do you do for health cover when you retire? @swenson19 thinking of you! How was your daughter…
  • @CMorning99 yay for vacation! 87 days will go fast! I called it. Today I went out for a run and had to stop after 10 mins. I just felt tight chested - very mild but annoying. Also very sore with DOMS. So I listened to my body and tood a rest. Fortunately I did. Work was crazy busy haha. Foods been good today. Feels good.
  • Well i called it. DOMS have well and truly set in. I love strength training when I'm doing it but HATE the first few days. Always awful. But it feels so good to be back into it. I'm feeling good (ignoring the DOMS) so will try a gentle 30 min run tomorrow. Feeling confident I can slowly gently start building. I'll keep…
  • I keep meaning to read her stuff. Since she's a kiwi she's hugely popular here but I just haven't got around to it. I know she is an absolute pioneer in women's sports and it's awesome!
  • Thanks @quilteryoyo I do teach in my job. Sort of. I'm the clinical tutor, which means I supervise undergraduate radiographer students when they are on placement. So not masters or PhD (yet bahaha). @shanaber was that you who commented? That meant so much. I rarely actually look at strava but get notifications when someone…
  • Lol i don't know if it's a me-ism or if its what people say here. I will be working towards a masters degree, and frankly the amount of work this project involves I'll probably go all the way to PhD (because why not). In good news. I didn't need my Inhaler all night! And no chest tightness so far. Last time it hit before…
  • Hey guys. Well the last month has been awful and I just couldn't come here. I'll have to listen to @runs_on_espresso podcast of feeling like a fraud cause that's me. Covid hit me so hard I was unable to exercise. For the first few weeks after having covid, I could barely work. So I've been taking things very very slowly…
  • @CMorning99 that appointment sounds awful! @quilteryoyo glad you got your MRI results and there isn't anything too scary, though doesn't help figure things out. Day 2 of shift. So far the weekend had been OK. Only had 9 patients all shift, got to watch a movie - the eyes of Tammy Faye. I am NOT religious in any way, it was…
  • @shanaber that sounds positive! I hope your arm heals fast with all the exercise.
  • Am back at work. I have to take things slowly or I get really breathless and get chest pains. I'm working evenings this weekend, and ED has been very nice to me. The nurses are really helping with bringing me patients etc. I have to go very very slow. So far my first night has been fine. Thinking of you all.
  • Morning all. Well woke up with mild chest pains. Sigh. So cements I over did it yesterday. My best friend, who is a GP, was very unimpressed with me haha. I got a very stern talking to. So nothing strenuous till the end of the month. Then I can slowly get back into things. Not even allowed to strength train. I'm allowed to…
  • Well good news. I heard from the race organisers and they have kindly agreed to defer my entry till next year. 3rd times a charm eh. I'll really want to run it then.. Feedback from work mates is I'm an idiot to be running, especially as I had chest pains... So I am going to listen to wisdom and not run for a month. I don't…
  • @shanaber hugs. I've been told I need to give more time before I start running again, but I got through today an honestly i need the mental release running gives me. So I get it. I hope things improve fast for you.
  • Well some good news, I was able to defer my HM entry till next year! Yay. I'll go along and cheer on the other runners, and have a great girls weekend away with my mum
  • @quilteryoyo it was very helpful. Others at work have said it took them a month to get back to normal
  • Hey all. Today is my first day back at work after basically 2 weeks off for covid. My rapid test today is finally negative! I'm actually looking forward to going back today, nothing like forced boredom eh. And I'm starting with admin today which is good because I have to catch up with my students. We have had others go…
  • Hey guys. I'm back after covid struck. Went for a run yesterday, managed 15 mins. Today I did 18! So my goal is to build back up. Those who've had covid, any tips on recovery. Sadly it hit in the middle of my training for HM in June, and honestly I don't think I'll be able to do it now. I'm seriously thinking of dropping…
  • Hey guys. Popping in again. @swenson19 I thought the anniversary must be coming up soon. I agree, do something with DD that's for you two. Love the hitchhikers reference. I really need to read that series again. I'm back from covid land. It really hit hard. I had weakness and fatigue for over a week. The weakness was…
  • @shanaber yeah the whole family got it. Our girls friend who lives across the street got it Thursday week ago. Jessica and Katie were at my mums for Easter weekend, and Katie started getting a runny nose on Monday. Tested her Tuesday, positive. My mum tested positive on Tuesday as well (symptomatic by then) Tested Jessica…
  • Hey guys. Update. As some of you kn, I got covid. And it's hitting me like a tonne of bricks. So bed it is. Hasn't affected my appetite though haha. Still can taste. Damn it. I'll be back soon I'm sure.
  • I'm still just ticking over. Trying to get back to thing. Weight seems to be holding steady. I'm hardly weighing and not tracking at all. Honestly I feel much better for it. I get so obsessed when tracking and all I think about is food. I do get times atm when I'm like, I need to lose a couple of kg just so clothing fit…
  • @swenson19 so sorry about your husbands elbow! That's a decent fracture.
  • Hey all. I think im finally gettoback to my normal. Today was the first day I've been able to complete a training run as planned. I've had to cut all others short. It's OK, early days. So 9.6k this morning.
