Did a little walk with my daughter this afternoon.5 -
Amazing job @martaindale! I was following your progress all morning!
I think I am coming down with something - sinus issues, achy - and knew I couldn’t manage a run, so I did a slow 3 mile walk instead just to get out of the house.7 -
@SummerSkier - still not 100%. Took today off. Will try and head out tomorrow!
@martaindale - Well done 😊
Look forward to seeing the Medals pics 😊3 -
Congratulations @martaindale! That’s a big accomplishment! I hope you are able to rest and relax and have some fun!2

Great accomplishment @martaindale on completing that tough Dopey Challenge! You are amazing!
I got in a pretty nice 8 miles this afternoon.

@spl8 I'm sorry about the migraine. I hope you logging on means that it is gone. Glad you got a walk in today.
Oh no @marisap2010 . I hope whatever it is you get over it soon!
Great job on your 8 miles today @Scott6255 !
Today is a milestone for me. Two years ago I was waking up in the hospital after having open heart surgery to remove the aortic root aneurysm. To commemorate, I did a 2.22 mile wun on the treadmill. I had intended to run, but waited to exercise until after I got home from a Sunday School party where I ate more than I should have and running just didn't seem like a very good idea. I did run enough to keep my HR between 110 and 130 bpm.

January Goal: 100 Miles
1/1: 10.50 miles
1/3: 6.01 miles
1/4: 5.11 miles
1/5: 5.60 miles
1/8: 11.03 miles
38.25/100 miles completed for January
I had a great run today. It was 35°F when I got up, so I waited until it warmed up to 40° before I ran. It was perfect runningq
weather. No wind, cool but not cold. The sun was shining. It was only 53°F by the time I got home, so I was getting warm, bit not too warm. I ran through the cemetery and saw 3 deer. They were so beautiful. It was a lovely morning for a run. I ran 11 miles. It was really nice to just run after a long and stressful week.
@quilteryoyo Congrats on your two year anniversary of the heart surgery. You are really an amazing woman!

Congrats on your 2 year anniversary @quilteryoyo and making yourself into an athlete that won't let anything stop her!1

Happy Heartaversary @quilteryoyo!!
No run for me today but I had a call from an agility friend who wanted to get our pups together for a walk. We haven't had class since early December and with the rain it has been canceled until the end of January at least. So today we made 2 laps around a local reservoir and the pups were so happy!L-R Jeep, Hobbes, Indie, Patriot8 -

Hello all!
Congratulations @martaindale for completing the Dopey challenge. I can't wait to hear about it and how you are feeling now after having completed all of those miles! I hope you have some time (and energy) afterwards for a little vacation before heading back home!
@quilteryoyo I would also like to congratulate you on your 2 year "heartaversery"!
@shanaber About your e-scooter, etc. rant. I also have to agree. Here in Germany it is more of a problem with people leaving/dragging the e-scooters that you rent and leaving them on the middle of the biking, jogging path. As a jogger, this is not so much of an issue, but it is very annoying when I am biking with the kids with the trailer and have to stop, get off the bike and move the scooter to the side, so that I can continue on my way. Also, my friend's 3 year old daughter lost the top half of 2 fingers! due to a faulty design on one of the rentable e-scooters here- so they will always be my enemy.
@tarun_yadavA Congratulations on getting a HM done even if you weren't feeling it and also on everyone else's weekend running/walking escapades .
@Fit2btied2016 Congrats on the new shoes! I have always trusted what was recommended in the running shoe store with the gait analysis and have, as of yet, never regretted my decision. About gyms- I personally also don't enjoy going to the gym, I am much rather outside in nature and love cardio exploring, but lifting, not so much, but I try to make myself go once or twice a week to cross train/lift, which I hope will help me avoid injury. Or, if the weather really sucks.
On Saturday I got a nice 70 minute run at pretty easy pace (10.5 K). I was planning on using Sunday as a rest day, but we had our house full of kids and ended up taking the 6(!) of them to go play soccer. I used about half the time they were playing to go on some easy loops with the smallest kids and was reminded of @AlphaHowls ' crazy loops (although my loops were outside and about the size of a standard track). I had to stop after 3.3 Km when one of the kids started crying. Then we did some cross training monkey bars together and I joined in on the soccer game (adults vs. kids - we weren't allowed to stop playing until the kids won which took awhile because my husband really wanted to win for some reason).
Today I planned to do a long cross training 60 minute indoor row, but I realized after 30 minutes that I just didn't have it in me mentally and physically. I have only been to the gym once since before winter break started and I haven't been lifting enough. It was just a bit too much to jump right into. So I think, I will have to work up to the 60 minutes in the next month as an additional January goal.

Thanks @Laurz9191 ! 😊
Taken today off from running too. Just feel horrid.
Well done on the rowing and weights sesh!3 -
Forgot to post on the weekend, but Saturday I finished week three of the 5k running program. We've been very lucky here in Alberta with a mild start to January and it was only about -7 C when I went out.
Runs are starting to get longer now and my pace is improving slightly, we'll see how it is on some of these longer runs this week.

Thanks @kgirlhart . Great long run yesterday!
Thanks @Scott6255 !
Thanks @shanaber ! Looks like such a nice walk and a lovely place for it.
Thanks @Fit2btied ! Hope you are feeling better and love the "prank" you played on your hubby.
Thanks @Laurz9191 Sounds like you had a great, fun "rest day" playing with all the kids. Great run on Sat and 30 min of rowing is nothing to sneeze at. You're doing great.
@tarun_yadavA Sorry to hear you are feeling worse. I hope you feel better tomorrow! You may need to see a doctor.
You're doing great @JennieMaeK !
I had planned on doing a longish run today, but got asked to work at daycare, so I went in for 6 hours. I had some errands to run afterwards, so got home later than I had hoped. I went down for a treadmill session when I got home. Since I wanted to be finished before 7, I decided to do half mile warm up walk, ran 1.3 miles (no walking) and then walked half a mile to cool down. I alternated running 2 min at 4.2 mph with 2 min at each of the paces from 4.3 - 4.6 mph. Final average pace was 13:56 min/mile or 4.3 mph. Avg HR was 136 with a max of 148 mph....so not too bad.

@quilteryoyo Good Morning. Thanks for checking in on me! 😊 Still feel a bit rough. Hopefully back on it tomorrow. My little sister is a Doctor (GP), so a lot of diagnosis'... and mouth pics(!)... and what not via text. There are Pros and Cons of having a Doctor in the family I guess. Lol
Hopefully back on this tomorrow.7 -
@tarun_yadavA I'm pretty sure there are more pros than cons to having a doctor in the family. I hope you are feeling well enough tomorrow to do a short run.

@shanaber The pups look so happy to be together!
@quilteryoyo Happy 2 year anniversary! You've done great coming back from such a major surgery.
@Fit2btied2016 I'm so glad you found some shoes you love. It really does make a big difference in how your runs feel.
Thanks for following along all the congrats everyone!! This was an amazing experience and I'm so glad I did it. And now I'm looking forward to not training for a marathon, getting back to a more normal schedule. I'm pulling things together to post about the weekend and the marathon specifically but here's my castle pic from the marathon morning.

@quilteryoyo thanks for the encouragement.
Yesterday was an easy pace "recovery run'. Only 15 minutes, but proud to say I didn't need to stop to jog and actually felt I could go longer. Building up to some of the longer runs that I know are coming in the next few weeks.
No run today, but I will try to go for a walk at lunch. Or sometime during the day. My computer needs some updates and our IT guy says it will take about 30 minutes, so maybe I'll pop out the office then if they don't need me around.

Thanks @martaindale ! Looking forward to reading about your experience. Love your picture.
Congrats on the 15 minute run @JennieMaeK . Building slowly is the way to go!

@tarun_yadavA hope you feel better soon. A doctor in the family sounds super useful!
@quilteryoyo wow, I can't believe it's 2 years already. Time flies! When will you hear about the results of your monitor? Or did I miss that? Speed reading atm, busy week.
@martaindale looking forward to reading your report, what an amazing feat! I can understand it feeling nice to not have to train now.2 -
Wow I forgot how chatty we can be, I missed 3 days and over 90 comments! I skimmed, congrats @martaindale!
I'm doing well, just plodding along. My watch only has me doing base runs atm. I assume its because I've done some shifts and a couple of nights on call so I'm a bit tired. I have increased the distance to 5k anyway and am enjoying doing a regular 5k again. 9 months after covid. Sigh. Now to slowly speed up.
Wonder if I can get to a 6min/k pace for a HM again before the end of June? I'm doubting it but you never know... I suspect this HM goal will be just to complete. Last year I was aiming for a sub 2hr HM.6 -

So uplifting to see all the new people (and returning people) and read about the tremendous running accomplishments. Keep it going, everyone!!!!!10
-
Thanks @Teresa502 ! Great run and love the murals. Enjoy your time in Richmond.
@eleanorhawkins I'm not sure when I will hear back from the Holter Monitor. I'm hoping for late this week, but it may be next week since it had to go to IL to be read.
@Avidkeo You never know until you try, but "just" completing a HM is a feat in itself, esp. after having such a hard time with CoVID.
Nice to see you check in @Tramboman !
I helped with health screenings for some high school kids today. After I got home, I changed to go down to exercise and sat on the couch to find something on TV to entertain me. I woke up 20 minutes later. Guess I was more tired than I realized. LOL
I did a run/walk of 4/1 minutes at 4.5/3.8 mph. I ran 2.30 miles in 31:38 minutes for an average pace of 13:45 min/mile (4.4 mph). My avg HR was 131 and max was 146 bpm. I also walked a mile total for warm up and cool down.

Hey nice to see you back @Tramboman
10 miles this evening. Wow 82°F for this run! That's pretty rough. But have to get in some longer runs during the week because going to Austin this weekend and probably won't be able to do much (or any) running.
