Well said!

If you have alot of weight to lose, and you are having alot of trouble losing weight- it's likely that you are insulin resistant, hyperglycemic, and have high triglycerides ( and prediabetic). That's a condition- in and of its self which- makes it hard to lose weight, and probably keeps you stuck in carb-craving/ fat…

. Your body will digest a big dose of refined carbs or sugar, and send it into your bloodstream so quickly- that unless you are running a marathon or playing basketball- most of it will be stored as fat before your body even has a chance to use it. The unused calories go straight to your fat cells and are not even…

Ok thank you

I have been reading through this thread and found it interesting- thought I would share this ( I know it will be useful to me!):

My grandmother- who is now 98 years old and in good health- swam for nearly 50 years. She was a member of a "spa" as she called it ( In the 70's it was a Holiday Health Spa, and later became a Vic Tanny's, and so on..) Anyway, she had the same routine three times a week. She would swim several laps in the pool which was…

yes- 1985 net calories

That is part of my symptoms......kind of a "first level". It starts with flu-like symptoms and then progresses into extreme physiological stress response, and then into even weirder stuff. But my blood sugar never goes under about 90. Figure that one out- my doctor can't, and as mentioned above- it's been about 5 years…

I really try to eat high fiber, low GI whole foods most or all of the time. if you look at my food diary you'll definitely see that. But when my BS becomes erratic, i don't get a warning, it just happens. It gets worse when I "push" my body ( exercise / restrict calories). I've been trying to figure it out for about 5…

That's interesting. I have not even been paying attention to the macros- at all. I think the current goal is either default, or something I set up 4 years ago. If you were to look at my build your first impression might be that I need alot of protein- maybe I do.
-
That's a good idea- yesterday it ended up being a 1/2 bag of potato chips from a filling station. I agree- I've always had weird, unstable "blood sugar" like issues- the harder I push my body, the more erratic it becomes.
-
Exactly!!! Like today ( keeping in mind that yesterday I didn't exercise, ate over my stated caloric goal, and was somehow wiped out / sick/ hungry the entire day) Meanwhile - today: Up at 7:30 am ( with less than 7 hours of sleep), feel great, stay active around the house all morning, go the gym and do an intense 45…

He's right- a net Calorie surplus is displayed in "RED"! But wait.....The exercise calories were added to the daily total, instead of being subtracted. It might have to do with how the exercise was entered. If you entered it manually ( from your own tracker or a separate app)- it needs to be entered as "-186"

OK I get it! fantastic- Thank you!

Interesting how it all works! I really try to consistently eat a whole food type of diet- I am trying to keep the stress to a minimum but yesterday I had a really condensed day, from like 5:30am- 2:30 in the afternoon without a break I wonder if that had something to do with it. Thank you
-
1000 calories seems like alot for someone consuming 1500 daily!! Where do you do enter the numbers? BTW- are you using the mobile app? Thank you
-
I understand. I keep a spreadsheet- along with my food journal here- wherein I enter exercise calories as "negative" calories, and it matches my daily total here on MFP, so I just tend to think of it that way- exercise calories are "negative" calories. And you are right- I could have been closer to a 1000 cumulative…

That all sounds very familiar- shots of carbs like bread, muffins, oatmeal or anything sweet/processed in the morning really sets me up for blind cravings of untold amounts of food throughout the day. I've been like that since I was very young. Those Slimfast shakes seem like they are some kind of highly processed food,…

Wow- Is that really true??
-
GREAT work!!

OK.....so I'm finally getting the concept. When I am already in a calorie deficit-- even if it's only 500 calories-- I really need to "eat back" the calories I've earned during exercise. That's so counter-intuitive! But I get it now. Thank you
-
Can you guys see my food /exercise diary? Just curious
-
Interesting! ok thanks
-
OK, thanks you guys- it's really helpful to hear your input!

You're right about it "catching up to you"... but I really thought I was eating plenty lol I selected "sedentary" and then subtracted 500 from maintenance calories...( and then I think I even rounded UP to 2100, so it's not even a 500 cal deficit!) My daily caloric goal is 2100 calories (this is approximately 500 calories…
-
You may be right- I have noticed the cumulative effect of a day-over-day deficit. It's like it builds up and all of the sudden- BAM! ...I thought I was eating plenty. Interesting that you mention carbs- I'm getting most or all of my carbs basically from quinoa and vegetable sources. No rice, no wheat or oats ( I did eat…

Yesterday- I "ate under" the calculated calorie goal (which included my exercise calories burnt) -by 281 calories. I felt fine. Today, I ate over my caloric goal by 319 calories, and I was physically miserable- and I still feel depleted. I didn't exercise today. And it's not just the numbers- it's the drastic difference in…

"eating back the calories"...Not sure I know what that means. Do you mean: did I add the exercise as a negative caloric intake, and then allow myself to eat additional calories while still staying under my daily caloric goals? If it helps any at all, I exercised late in the day yesterday- like from 7-8 PM- but slept…

Holy wow- that's incredible!!

I really like this board but it's better to seek out information elsewhere for anything non-traditional. People who contribute here are very helpful- but also very pragmatically minded about controlling Body Mass (and that's where it stops).
