• AnnPT77 - thank you for the link re: NEAT activities. I'm going to focus on including more of that in my day. Lol - I always try to be more efficient in my movements, but now I realize I actually ought to intentionally be doing the reverse.…
• Just finished my Conqueror Challenge for Machu Picchu. The goal was 12 miles and I actually did a little over 15. Pretty good for three days!
• Posting after a long time away. Anyway, my main source of exercise right now is walking. I got an opportunity to try a free 12 mile mission with Conquerer Challenges, so started with that today. Haven't done the CC before because each mission has an entry fee, but what a great concept! Maybe it will keep me motivated and…
• I'm just starting to investigate foods that helps increase levels of dopamine, but right now I know zilch. I'll update as I go along.
• I'm in!

• Just a few ideas (embedded in my usual ridiculously long essay 😬).
AnnPT77 - I'm glad you write these, because i find them inspiring. Thank you! Bethe
• Argggh, time to get back at it. I fell off the food tracking and exercise wagon before xmas, and (of course) gained back most of the weight i'd lost. I'm one of those 'skinny-fat' people - my arms and legs are toothpicks, with all excess weight ending up around my torso. Makes me look like a toad, and I don't like it!
• Hey, I fell off the DDPY wagon, but need to get back on it. Are you still doing it?
• I bit the bullet and am going solar with my house. The panels were installed on top of my garage yesterday, and now I'm just waiting for the utilities company to come in and complete the connection. A lot of homeowners in my town are doing this now because the Texas grid is slowly failing, with upkeep at the state level…
• I'm plugging away with my DDPY. It ain't easy, but I'm getting it done. I'm actually starting to see some muscle development in my arms, and my middle is showing signs of being something other than round - lol. I think I'm going to start going for a burn of 500 calories via exercise every day, which means picking up…

• To the person with the broken washing machine (was it Carol?): A friend of mine is a plumber, and he's always told me to avoid electronics on washers and dryers as much as possible. Go for dials instead. That way regular plumbers have a good chance of being able to fix a machine when it breaks.
• Started doing DDP yoga a few weeks ago. I'm so out of shape, every session kicks my butt! Things are coming along, but I'll be glad to get to the point where I have more strength and endurance, lol.
• Lanette - here's another thanks for that anti-fragility video. I watched it and am working to absorb it. Lisa - thank you for your comment re: happiness and being anti-fragile. My siblings and I also had a pretty bad childhood, and we each have been very damaged by it to this very day. It is encouraging to read/hear others…
• I've been doing DDP Yoga for five weeks now, along with focusing on macros and shooting for 1200 calories per day. Getting enough protein (circa 95g per day as per my age) is not easy, but I just switched to a pea protein powder that has 25g per scoop, so that will help a lot. My calorie intake is mostly on point, but I'm…
• Thank you for the link! I'm really into this type of info. Turns out the sugar industry bought off the powers that be in the 60's to vilify fat instead of sugar . Smh - and then we had decades of inaccurate health advice based on that mis-information. How many lives could have been saved/improved, if we'd just gotten the…
•
Sorry - I worked for state parks rather than national parks. I know national parks had annual passes for seniors at one time, but my knowledge is very dated at this point. They may not do that anymore. Beth
• Hi Grandmallie! I was an interpretive park ranger at a couple of historical sites with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department. It was lots of fun because I got to develop and present public programming, special events, exhibits, etc. on lots of topics relevant to the sites where I worked. I also got to do skills…
• Hello! I'm a retired park ranger who lives in upper south Texas, and I just turned 63. I started DDP yoga this last month as a birthday present to myself, and it's kicking my rear end, lol. But, it makes me feel better so it's worth it. It's nice to meet everyone here.
• Great - I'm so happy somebody else here is doing it! I'm in my third week, so we will be doing the same workouts if you are doing the beginner section. And even if you are starting somewhere else we can still commiserate, lol. I'm really impressed with the program so far. I can already tell I'm getting a lot stronger. The…

• Thank you, AnnPT77 and Pdc654 - I appreciate your encouragement and comments. Re: strength training - it's funny, but I used to be sort of a gym rat in my 20s. I do not relish the idea of weight training in my 60s though, lol. But at this point I am so weak, even gentle yoga is giving me quite the workout. I had a…

• Still trying to figure out the best macro ratio for my body type. I'm a post-menopausal woman who is "skinny-fat", so I have skinny arms, legs, and shoulders, and a sizable spare tire. I've been focusing on keto, but internet sleuthing suggests that's not the best diet for skinny-fat women. Based on my current actual…

• Yoga is a great option too. Start gently and go from there. Frankly, the people who benefit from it the most are those of us who are stiff, carry extra weight, have mobility issues, etc.

• Just got back from a five day trip, helping friends pack up to move houses. Lots of strenuous activity, and I had to be extra mindful re: the muscle I pulled in my back last week. I of course fell off my diet, but oh well. I'm home now and back at it.

• I got back on myfitnesspal a couple of weeks ago and have posted here at least once since then. Last time I was active here was 2020, so naturally I gained weight while gone (doh!). Now I'm working my way into keto to see if that works for me. One thing I've learned recently is that women over 60 really need to be…

• Hey, are any of you folks still active? I'm thinking of joining DDPY and it would be nice to have some like-minded folks to talk to.

• I used to do yoga every day for several years when I was younger. Loved it, but eventually stopped. I've decided to start again because I'm in less than stellar shape due to having experienced Guillan-Barre last year. Anyway, I'm weak and out of shape, and about 20 pounds heavier than I should be. I started Day 1 with…
• I'm back with my fitness pal after being gone for a good while. I'm back in better health and need to once again address losing a few pounds. I figure I need to limit carbs since from everything I've researched, those seem to be the leading culprits re: the dreaded middle-age spread (which I'm experiencing worse than…

• LOL - that police post!!! And congrats on the loose pants - oh, wait...
• Had a big scare day before last with one of my dogs. She collapsed and I had to run her to the vet after hours. Brought her back home, and she started pooping copious amounts of blood. Stayed up with her most of the night, and got meds for her yesterday morning. She seems to be doing much better now, thank goodness. Its…
