I made my goal on April 29, within a week had regained 3 lbs. A little readjustment and discipline, back to goal and more. Circumstances kept me and my wife from the gym for over a week now, but my weight has remained within a half pound range for that same week, despite a few meals out.

Yesterday I went to the mall to try on pants at EB, because my size 40 khakis have gotten way too loose (10 months and 81 lbs ago I wore size 44). Tried on size 38, still loose. :o So tried size 36, AND THEY FIT! I haven't fit in size 36 pants since jr high!! Totally skipped a size. B)

My AH-HA moment was that day when I found out that I have coronary artery disease, was risk for diabetes, and needed heart surgery for clogged arteries last summer. It was a jolt to my previous mindset that I was a little overweight (actually obese), but otherwise ok. So I decided to get healthy, with the full cooperation…

I finally made goal! Weighed in this morning at 204.4. B)

I don't normally give hugs to posts on here, lest someone think it's pervy, but dealing with family in that situation and handling it as you did deserves a hug.

78 lbs in 9 months, but I'm practically at goal now. Maybe 6 lbs more just to get below 200...

Todays NSVs: 1 - I walked a 5k today, with my wife (and best friend, support buddy, etc), in the rain even, and we didn't stop once. Finished closer to the front than to the back, too. It was the American Heart Association Heart Walk, and used to be that I'd see the weather forecast of rain as an excuse to stay home, but…

Here's a spear - now go get lunch. ;)

Oklahoma, USA. Like the musical, but with less singing. ;)

I've spent the past two days in seminars for work, meaning a lot of sitting and little walking, hotel lunches, and boring topics (I mean, some folks can get excited about auditing, but I'd rather be out counting steps). Anyway, two NSVs: 1- because Monday was my birthday, I allowed myself a brownie with lunch. ONE brownie!…

The jeans i bought a few months ago have gotten loose, so wife and I went shopping today. For the first time in decades, I'm able to fit in size 38 jeans. B)

Amazingly, it has not been difficult. A double-bypass is powerful motivation!

Most excellent! You gotta feel better emotionally and physically, to have that much weight gone. I'm down 66# and feel great.

I like good hoppy ales, and would rather skip a beer than drink the swill that is light beer and mass-market pilsners.

Very good!

As others have said, you have to decide for yourself to get healthier or it won't stick. I've been overweight since about the 4th or 5th grade. I was over 300# when I started college. I tried diets over the years, lost some but always gained it back. It took open-heart surgery at age 59 six months ago to give me that A-Ha!…

When my wife and I are out running errands ,and know we'll be out at lunch and/or supper, we'll take a protein shake as a cushion against hunger, or plan ahead of time where to eat out and what to get before we walk in the door. For me it isn't just about the calories, but sodium as well, even more so. Many supposedly…

Thought I'd provide an update: It's now 6 months in to my journey to get healthy, and as of this morning, I am down 63 pounds and two pant sizes, and am just 15 pounds away from my final goal weight of 205. My bp has improved to be consistently normal, and on the lower end of that range. Resting heart rate continues to…

Thanks for all the input. I suppose an appointment with a knee doc is in order...

Outside temps made it above freezing today, so I walked around my work building and parking lot at lunch for 30 minutes. My NSV was four times I broke into a jog for about 50-75 yards each time, which is a first for me! Felt real good, too.

Had a lunch meeting at work today, food from my favorite pizza place. I had a salad. Did not even start to reach for a slice.

Me too, but very small percentage of not. Sisters and I accepted our results as just another part of who we are. One elderly aunt, though, got real upset at the Scandinavian bit, insisting that we did NOT have any Scandinavian! :D But since Vikings conquered part of France where one ancestral line is from, it makes perfect…

I've done Ancestry dna and 23andMe. Differences in percentages because each uses different algorithms and database, but both give useful results. Both my sisters, a nephew, and an aunt have also been tested by one or the other, and it is very interesting comparing the information for each. Ancestry is more useful if you…

Imho, planning for cheat days is akin to planning for failure. I don't consider myself on a diet, but on a lifetime journey to better health through healthier food choices. Down 61 pounds since July 23, 2017. 17 pounds from my goal weight.

My cardiologist told me today that I was doing all the right things, and that if all his patients did as well, he'd be out of a job. I was pleased! Fwiw, I had a double bypass in July.

Feeling good about getting two more laps around my work building - about 900 steps - and get back to my desk to find my Fitbit. On the desk... connected to the charger. :o :/
