Because of the superbugs that were a result of over use of antibiotics: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/antibiotics/antibiotic-antimicrobial-resistance/#:~:text=The%20overuse%20of%20antibiotics%20in,Clostridium%20difficile%20(C. Not saying they can't presrcibe them at all - but they are now the last resort.

GPs are very very busy, especially now. It doesn't surprise me that they wouldn't have detailed knowledge about some subjects as they have a lot of general medical knowledge to cover. It also doesn't surprise me that we have overweight doctors eating crisps - they are under a lot of stress, underfunded and can't just…

I'm going to guess that they want to see if there are correlations with diet/exercise and covid. That's pure speculation from someone not in the know - have you asked in the support forum?

This is my position as well.

I see the whole gym etiquette thing as subjective to individual situations. The wider question could be - how suitable/appropriate is the gym as a place to meet people? Just like anywhere else I think it comes down to if it's warranted or not. If I make eye contact with someone I like, the type that invites me to go over…

Trust me you don't want to get into that can of worms. And yeah - she didn't even make any 'claims' unless you count 'really liking it' and 'feeling great'. Or - playing Devil's advocate maybe it's someone from the pro IF camp disagreeing with her saying that it gives her more room to eat bigger meals thus reinforcing that…

I didn't know that Lizzo was promoted by Prince, that's a very high endorsement in my book. As far as brits having different standards when i comes to attractiveness/talent I'd say it's pretty much the same. You do see the cream of our talent as Hollywood/Oscars is their goal. Especially comedy wise Steve Coogan, Sasha…

There are tons of attractive people trying to make it in entertainment although it's the ones with talent that make it. Even in today's reality TV culture it's the ones with character that tend to make it. Unless you're the (attractive) family of a lawyer who got a Holllywood actor out of a murder charge. We've come a long…

Adele and Melissa Mccarthy come to mind as exceptions, but they are rare. The entertainment industry does have a skin-deep shallowness problem. Until people stop buying it they'll keep selling it. I don't know Lizzo's music so can't comment.

I agree that it's unhelpful to tell people to just take responsibility and it's often a lot more complicated than that. I spent years battling addictions being told to just snap out of it or get over it would not have worked. I didn't watch all the video either, I got the jist early on and the tone of the message I don't…

I think this topic got covered in a bit of depth recently in another thread, it's quite a polarizing one. The guy in the video seems a bit angry and he's probably cashing in on the controversy to get views - marketing innit... IMO the debate boils down to life choices being 'privilege' and if you buy into that or not. I…

I'm reading a book all about this at the moment. They talk about how forced self-discipline is doomed to fail and instead going through gradual personality change and visualizing the sort of person you want to be (eg someone who chooses healthy options and doesn't crave bad stuff and is overall healthy) is better. It's…

Yep - 100%

I am only going on my personal experience comparing results from when I did and didn't do IF - and in particular fasted lifting & cardio. The bolded bit to me looks like it's still a bit open. On the flip side my gains are slow on this bulk. I'm considering dropping IF and fasted lifting for this bulk to make the most out…
-
When did I say that? IF just works for me - better than when I didn't do it. I don't care about 'statistical power' only my own results. If I near slandered you with my delusional, fallacious thinking, ludicrous and delusional 'bad faith' position then well.. What can I say?!
-
I'd be happy to just leave the discussion at that, I can also acknowledge that it's not magic and definitely not for everyone. I (like many others) only go by my own personal experience which is what it is. No one is touting false information or trying to sell anything - you just even said "I wholeheartedly believe it…

Don't think I had any credibility before, hence the tiger repelling ring (that was OK was it?) and the 'irrational' label. I'll wait for the next person to come in and state that they have had positive results from IF and see what happens to them. This debate has ceased to be about IF and become about belligerence and…
-
I can only share my personal experiences like others have tried to only to get very aggressively shut down and told that they are making claims and their personal experiences are somehow wrong. I've been doing the IF + lifting thing for a while now and it's been more effective than when I did just lifting + tracking and…

Basically the tigers kept eating my unicorns and when I decided enough was enough I set up a tiger repelling ring. It worked a treat for repelling the tigers but caught a flying spaghetti monster which is now eating the unicorns instead of the tigers. I'm thinking of trying to release it back into space but I'm not sure of…

Are you suggesting that I'm spreading lies and trying to recruit people into IF for the benefit of people selling IF related courses? Do you think I (and other pro IF posters) have some kind of nefarious agenda that you need to swoop in on and defend the fad dieters from? What are you positioning yourself as in creating…
-
I set up one of those tiger repelling rings (too many tigers venturing onto my property..) and caught a flying spaghetti monster in it. No one believes me when I tell them but that's OK, I know what I saw...

Amen!

The point was that I'll take my personal experience and keep doing what I'm doing and choose not to argue to death about it on an Internet forum. The tiger repelling ring (which I didn't bother to Google) I just went with as it is what you likened IF to, you could have easily have said 'flying spaghetti monster' and my…
-
No it wouldn't, if said person had tried several methods and through trial and error found that the tiger repelling ring worked for them they'd keep doing what they were doing as long as it worked. Flipping it on it's head - if the people trying to convince them valued their opinion above all else and it became apparent…

This is exactly my personal experience as well. I wouldn't bother engaging in the debate here, life is too short. Good on you and enjoy your results B)

Thanks for the response. The fasting thing is something I'm going to continue to do and not debate it on here any more, it's a way of life for me and I like the way it makes me feel. It's not the topic of this thread or my question. I think the upshot is that I'm not going to restrict white starchy carbs, fruit and dairy…

Guys.... Very simple question - I'll ask it again: Does sticking to slower release/low GI carbs and avoiding insulin spikes (as per Tim Ferris' 4 hour body and 'Occam's protocol') negatively affect gains while bulking? Yes or no? @sijomial -yes I am following Kinobody GGP program which involves IF. It's working very well
-
I agree with this for this particular example. I'd even go further and link the first site in Google when searching for "Strength standards": https://strengthlevel.com/strength-standards/bench-press Regarding the original query of the post I'm not really sure. Depends on the question.
-
I'm not looking to spike insulin or do anything out of the ordinary. I've been cutting all year on a 'slow carb' (4 Hour Body - Tim Ferris) diet. I'm still a bit in that mindset and sticking to lower GI carbs and avoiding sugar/fruit/dairy. I'm wondering if this will hamper a bulk.
-
I'm agreeing to disagree and sticking with what works until it stops working. I like IF and it had become a way of life for me, I like the way it feels, I like the results so far - I'm not going to stop doing something that's working. I have said 'it works for me - these are the results so far'. Never have I claimed to be…
