  • I never see lamb at $5-6/lb. it’s never on sale. I’d stock up if it was. It’s always at least $9.99/lb for ground lamb. Forget chops or leg. I never buy it, but would at that price.
  • Thanks! Probably just a policy here.
  • That’s interesting. I’ve always been swiped by a swab of something pre-vaccine. What are they using? I’ve always assumed it was an alcohol swab.
  • I share a similar view as yours. Buying bulk, meal prepping, sticking to portion sizes all bring down overall costs. If someone doesn’t know how to cook, there are a lot of recipe sites and videos available on the internet. If you really want to save money, teach yourself to cook. It’s not hard.
  • Cheating, to me, implies doing something bad/wrong. I just eat and log everything I eat and drink and work it into my calories for the day. Do I go over? Of course I do at times. The big difference now is not letting it continue. Back at it the next meal/snack. You can share a meal of pizza with your family without…
  • Sorry to hear that you are trying everything and it’s still happening. I know how painful it is. I know for myself, the usual suspects are the cause, not enough hydration, or potassium. As long as I eat a banana every day and drink enough water, I don’t get the deep muscle cramps, which I agree are quite painful and can…
  • Pizza night tonight. I make it myself. We haven’t had it since May. It’s cool enough now to have the oven on. No AC. Very thin crust, thin layer sauce, lots of veggies, sprinkling of cheese. Makes a full cookie sheet sized pizza. Two nice sized pieces 300 calories. Every Friday now through late spring.
  • I reduce sodium by eliminating processed foods as much as possible. Cook food in batches and use herbs and spices, making leftovers for other meals. Very little canned vegetables and the ones I do use, I choose low sodium if available. I even rinse low sodium canned beans. We prefer fresh or frozen vegetables anyway. My…
  • You are very young, but my husband went to work one afternoon in late May. He’d been having chest pains, and trouble breathing. His coworkers took him to the hospital. We had our 2nd Moderna shot in April. Turns out, he had developed blood clots in his left knee area that traveled to his lungs. The doctor didn’t come right…
  • I guess I’ve never had an instance that I was unable to make an appointment when I call to make one. Sure, I’ve had to hold when call volumes are high, but I’ve never been told that they would call me back to schedule an appointment. I certainly would call them back within a reasonable amount of time (24 hours maximum) if…
  • If they don’t give you a call back from the doctors office to schedule an appointment because of your concerns about having diabetes, find another doctor. This isn’t normal procedure for a clinic/dr office.
  • https://www.brachs.com/where-to-buy.html I don’t think so
  • Another vote for sheet pan meals. Protein of your choice, veggies of your choice, spices of your choice, oil of choice. Cut everything about the same size. Put everything in a gallon zip loc bag. Seal and mix well. You could use a big bowl, but the bags are easier to mix. Our favorite, turkey kielbasa, bell peppers,…
  • jenilla1, so sorry for your pain. I’m wishing for the very best outcome for your family and you❤️ Stay strong! Covid becoming a political issue was one of the worst things that has ever happened in the United States,
  • I’m not trying to be “unhelpful”. I’ve actually gained all the weight back twice, and this time, I’ve actually passed the 5 year mark🤞🏼 Everyone is different and I can only speak for myself. A member of MFP for almost 10 years. First 6, under a different name. Four year anniversary just passed under current name. Lost over…
  • Actually, the statistics show that, no matter how, fast/slow, or the diet you use, to lose the weight, within 5 years, the vast majority of people gain the weight back. Some gain even more back. It takes persistent effort, to keep weight off, longterm.
  • Make room for whatever you like, and spend the calories in any way that works best for yourself. Sustainability to a lifelong commitment, staying in your calorie budget and meeting nutritional needs, can get you where you want to be, and keep you there.
  • Diet pop. I actually prefer it, and few calories, almost as good as water calorie wise. I do drink mostly ice water now, but have some pop occasionally. Black coffee and water most of the time.
  • I eat anything I want in moderation, staying in my calorie budget, paying attention to nutrient goals. It’s not cheating. Cheating implies doing something forbidden. It’s part of eating sensibly for me.
  • Greek yogurt Jerky Built bars
  • It seems many of the people on 600 pound life don’t have their meals at the table either. A lot of eating in bed or the living room, maybe mostly because of mobility issues, for the morbidly obese person. Many eat this way as a family. We always sit down to meals at the table, and use washable utensils/plates/pots/pans. I…
  • We live in rural Minnesota. Less than 50 miles from the center of a major metropolitan area. We have very poor internet access. We both have smartphones, but rarely have more than two bars. Times everyday where there is no service. We also have a PC with an ellipsis jetpack for internet service, and the service with the PC…
  • I remember my first Thanksgiving after I started. Ate everything. Didn’t want to get on the scale the next day, but I did. Surprisingly, only up 1-1/2 pounds. By the following Thursday, had lost 3 pounds. This time I didn’t let myself give up, and tell myself I’d start over again on Monday. It can be a mind game.
  • I like rustic seeded breads best. Mashed with a little hot sauce, sprinkled with homemade Everything but the Bagel Seasoning. Just my taste, but I think Trader Joe’s has too much garlic, so I make my own and cut back on the garlic a bit. My recipe makes a lot of the seasoning, which is good, because I use it on a lot of…
  • I’m in Minnesota too. I usually have canned vegetable soup in the cupboard. They are low calorie and several brands have low sodium options. I make a big pot of soup/chili from fall through spring, for meals throughout the week. This weekend I’m making a Greek lemony chicken soup with veggies and orzo. I usually put in a…
  • We got our first shot in March, the second in early April, at our pharmacy. Moderna. Both shots we received hand outs. My husband got blood clots in his left knee, that traveled to his lungs, in late May, and was hospitalized for 5 days. The specialist did say it “may have” been a result of the vaccine, but that was not…
  • Just a little context on cause of death. My oldest sister had a double mastectomy at 38. At 54 she was diagnosed with lung, brain and adrenal cancer. Six weeks later, less than a week before radiation treatment for the brain cancer was going to begin, she died from pneumonia. Pneumonia was the official cause of death, but,…
  • My mother purchased unbreakable plates when my siblings, and I were very young. A couple of my sisters weren’t even born yet. Unbreakable every day plates have been around a very long time. I’ll be 70 in 2 weeks. When I was about 5 or 6, I remember the salesman, who came to our house selling melmac dishes to my mother. The…
  • Hardly use them ever. Sometimes for picnics or family gatherings with a lot of people. Even camping we have reusable plates/utensils.
